Sublime experience at The Clam! Superb and friendly waitstaff service. Delicious and beautifully presented. We had a magical time!
The welcome was very warm and friendly and everything I tried was delicious. The outdoor patio seating is very appealing.
Excellent food, although the portions are small. But everything is flavorful. Very attentive staff
Overall, I would rate the restaurant closer to 3.5 than 4 stars. The very positive aspects of the restaurant are the number of reasonably priced small plates offered (including some vegetable items) and the many seafood items which can be eaten individually or shared. There is a wide variety of good seafood dishes. Restaurant has a lot of good outside seating and is kid-friendly. All the above positive aspects have made the restaurant more popular and more crowded compared to the pre-pandemic status. However, the extra-crowd seems to have stretched the kitchen and the service staff. The result is that the dishes (eg, seafood chowder, skate) have lost some of their pre-pandemic edge and taste and the service has gone down. These are easily correctable problems with appropriate addition of experienced staff
Our food was very good, the wait staff super friendly and attentive. The wine selection was heavy on the pricey side, some more affordable good options would serve the overall guest experience well.
Far too noisy. Ridiculous.
Uniquely delicious and desirable food in a lovely setting with superb service!
Had a good experience but was disappointed with the happy hour. They apparently “get destroyed” within the first hour of happy hour so weren’t offering any happy hour food deals. This was the reason my boyfriend and I went here, so it was a bit disappointing.
In the three times, that I'd been here, I only ordered the lobster slider.
My most recent visit, I ordered spaghetti with clams. I finished my dish painfully; the sauce (tomato) was too sour for my palate.
That special hour of our visit was a bit annoying. Before my guests came, the open kitchen was extremely wild. The maitre'd explained it was because of the soccer game. When the second guests came , she requested to lower the music.
The bill was okay but altho the wine bottle has the right amount of $90, I ordered a Saumur not a Chateau Yvonne Cab Franc.
I expected A class act but it happens. I will think twice to recommend and make sure, the diner is not as "fuzzy" as me.
Agree with some other reviewers…there were hits and there were misses. The restaurant is a lovely space and, although small, there is room to negotiate between tables. A few tables around us were clearly regulars, which is always a good sign and definitely indicates that generally this is a really good place. Service was very good although slowed a bit when restaurant became completely full. Highs as far as food were the appetizers and dessert. The entrees were more disappointing, especially the spaghetti and clams, unfortunately. Very gritty, chewy clams. All and all it was a nice evening, but not quite worth the money. (Even considering it’s nyc, so of course everything is pricier, which we understand.)
Everything was good, appetizers, desserts & cappuccinos were delicious but main course was just a so so
would not recc. will not return. terribly overpriced barely mediocre food. staff all seemed miserable to be there. something is up w this place from the inside for sure.
Every meal I have here is better than the next. Absolutely one of my favorite restaurants in NYC; it never disappoints.
I always love the spaghetti and clams but this time I went for the halibut and it was delicious.
Service couldn’t be better. Bravo.
Excellent scallops, very good branzino, great grilled asparagus; overly seasoned beans. The ice cream sandwich was hard but tasty; the lemon tort was great.
Food was great, portions were a little small for the value, but really nice spot in the Village!
Excellent friendly service and great food. Love the location and the vibe.
Food was fantastic. I had the clams and spaghetti and my wife had the skate. My dish was seasoned really well and had a little heat to it which I really appreciate. We also started with the lobster arancina along with some fresh oysters. Nice selection of wines by the glass and promoted cocktails.
Delivered what was promised. The staff didn't rush us. The food was delicious and as expected.
All was well. Food was amazing and our server, Pierre, was fun! The only drawback is the restrooms...filthy. I realize that the public is using them and so some responsibility has to lie with others, but there should be regular checks by a member of staff to keep them at least reasonably clean.
Other than that, we love this place and will continue to come back
Excellent seafood with creative flavor combinations and accompaniments.
Its quit a bad feeling to be an after thought, thats how our server made us feel
Best meal I've had in awhile! Absolutely delicious cocktails, wine, apps, entrees and dessert. Blown away!
Great food, but service was rather slow. Would go back but not rush back
Wonderful food and service. The spaghetti and clam was amazing!
Great as always. The outdoor pavilion is outstanding and perfect for summer -- lots of light and fans at the ready!
My husband and I celebrate our anniversary at the Clam every year because of the delicious food, cozy ambiance, and fantastic staff, and this year was just as wonderful as we have always remembered it!
You can’t go wrong with anything you order, but be sure to grab their rolls to go along with the chowder as a perfect starter combo.
This place nails it every time. Get the spaghetti and clams.
Terrific staff, delicous food, charming ambience. Everything you want for a night out.
My dining experience at The Clam since pre Covid couldn’t be more disappointing. We sat indoors, the loud music can be distracting at times. We ordered fries+ 3 appetizers and the portions (except for Bibb salad) are smaller than they’ve ever been. BTW oysters are now $4/pc. Really?! For entree, we ordered seared scallops, baked halibut and a seared salmon fillet. All had 2 things in common: under-seasoned and 30% smaller than pre-covid portions. The delicious brick pressed roasted chicken is off the menu. We ordered all 4 desserts, spent over $340+tips on dinner for 4 in the end felt rushed and was ultimately told our time was up. Wtf?
The Clam is not what is was. They’ve managed to at least double their seating capacity by building out their front and side street structures. Fully booked on a Saturday night and they are charging 5% covid fee? Really?
I’ve been there over dozen times in the past 5yrs, taken friends and clients there.. this was by far the most disappointing meal I’ve had there.
Soooo good! Great food and wine. Wonderful team!
Great service & fabulous food!
Delicious food, strong service, a little pricey (a sense that wasn't helped by charging for a refill on club soda).
The food was disappointing and the service was scattered.
Delicious- and wonderful service. Everything from the crab dip and spring rolls, fish entrées, beautiful dessert, and gorgeous martinis.
Amazing deals for happy hour! Service was stellar even though we came during a change-up time—seamless.
Great service, really good outdoor dining ambience (with the exception of the 90s/early 00s pop music, which felt out of place & time). Food is just so-so.
This is always one of my favorite restaurants, a top choice of mine. Things were slightly off this time, they were out of my favorite item, the whole fish, which our server neglected to mention until after he came back to take our order, they didn’t offer a second round of drinks, had to find the server...nothing bad, just not as enjoyable as always. The salmon w leeks was very good, the beet salad delicious. My friend seemed to enjoy her sliders (after noting the portion seemed small). The fries were excellent. I will be back, I assume lots of Covid challenges. Also, there’s a Covid surcharge which probably should be noted. But again, not a big issue. It’s still one of my favorites!
