The Circular at The Hotel Hershey Ratings and Reviews
Very disappointing. Sat for almost 10 minutes before the waiter finally approached the table. Ordered cocoa scallops for appetizer- very tasty but there were only two of them! Not worth the $13.00. Wife had the endive salad. Throughout dinner the food runners had to ask which of us ordered what! That aspect was sloppy. Entree was the ribeye. Undercooked, not very flavorful and tough. Again, disappointing for $40. I have had much better steaks and Longhorn or Hoss’s. Wife had the pork chop and was very good. Did I say I was disappointed? Well, I was. Waiter was slow, bus staff was very efficient. I don’t mind spending money on meals but will not be doing so at this place again (at least for dinner). For fine dining I will go elsewhere. A big letdown.
It was my girlfriend and I’s first Valentines Day together so I wanted to do something real special. The circular did not disappoint. The food was amazing, the service was incredible, and the atmosphere was spectacular. Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable, and quick. I will be recommending this establishment to friends and family for their date nights as well. It was well worth the price and drive!
We come to the circular dining room frequently and really enjoy the meals, especially paired with the wonderful wines! Last night they had a special dark chocolate dessert paired with a sparkling Italian wine. Delicious!
The sommelier, Ray, makes every meal memorable with his selections.
My sea bass special was excellent and the “Thai” Brussels sprouts were the BEST I’ve ever had - such an interesting, creative spin on an otherwise “blah” veggie! My friend really loved her apple walnut salad and the presentation was very nice as well (and a nice portion). Even though The Circular is more casual now than in the past, the service is still tops and a great place for a special dinner!
Brunch at The Hotel Hershey is always a special treat. The newly redecorated Circular Dining Room is beautiful, the service outstanding, and the food varied and delicious. There's something to suit everyone--freshly shucked oysters and beautifully steamed shrimp with accompanying sauces, a delectable assortment of appetizers, cheeses, salads, made-to-order omelets, poached egg creations, meat and seafood main dishes as well as carved to order prime rib--it's a wonderful spread. And, of course, the desserts are divine! Milk chocolate creme brûlée, many-flavored macarons, assorted cookies, crepes suzette, chocolate cream pie, truffles, blintzes, and other treats are offered in sizes allowing diners to sample several. Even the coffee is delicious.
Perhaps a few minor suggestions for the Hotel would be to offer freshly baked breads to accompany the meal, and to pay closer attention to vegetable preparation. Salads were uninspired and beginning to wilt. Brussels sprouts, broccoli rabe, and green beans were all overcooked, but that may simply be due to having sat too long in warming trays on the buffet. The lamb entree was also well done, as was the main dish fish, which was very dry and flavorless.
Considering everything, though, the Sunday brunch at Hershey is a delightful way to spend an afternoon. With the myriad offerings, everyone can come away happy!
My husband and I went for an early Valentine’s Day brunch. We enjoyed everything about our experience and will certainly be visiting again! Our server Yvonne was delightful and extremely friendly and attentive. Thank you for a wonderful start to our Sunday!
Disappointed it went from a white table cloth restaurant to everyday restaurant. I have dined at this restaurant many times in the past. Did not like the wicker place mats. Did not feel the quality of the food was worth the cost for dinner. The breakfast was much better and I would return for breakfast. Also, what happened to the famous chocolate pie?
Saturday night date night went well. Excellent service. Valentine's dinner specials. Ordered porterhouse steak for two and it was appropriately cooked medium rare as asked. Creamed spinach was very, very creamy so not really to my liking but perhaps others would like that. Potatoes were good. Complimentary Prosecco due to a table mixup was appreciated and really not even necessary as it wasn't a big deal. We were happy with our window table. Loved our salted caramel treats!
The service was great and food was as well. We go to dinner here at least once a year while we stay at the hotel and is always a nice treat. I look forward to going back again. Last year it was much busier, and I still remember service staff bumping into me, while I was sitting and dining. I did have breakfast here once as well and was also just as good (service and food).
Our welcome and the service staff were excellent, as were our complete meals. The anniversary recognition in the form chocolate-covered strawberries and a congratulations message in chocolate were a much appreciated surprise. The window views (specifically at breakfast) and the ambiance were pleasing. This meal was the highlight of our stay.
We spent the night of our wedding anniversary at Hotel Hershey and enjoyed our stay very much. The spa was 1st rate and we were treated well by all staff. However, we made a reservation for dinner at the Circular restaurant and were disappointed by our experience. The menu is underwhelming and the steak a huge disappointment. I ordered the 1855 rib eye and assumed it would be a small cut as it was the lower priced rib eye. It was 3/4 of an inch thick and slightly over done. That wasn’t a bad thing for me as I can’t eat that much anyway. My husband ordered the cowboy rib eye and it was the exact same steak as mine but with a huge bone attached. No kidding, 3/4 of an inch thick if that! No upscale restaurant would serve that. I was also surprised by the fact that they didn’t have linens on the tables etc. just not what I consider an upscale establishment. Won’t eat here again. Disappointing. The host/manager was a nice young man who wanted to make things right but there wasn’t really anything he could do. We ate the meal and its only right to pay for it. The restaurant was empty with only a few tables. Was the kitchen staff perhaps a skeleton crew? Anyway, we enjoyed the hotel and spa and will definitely stay again, and eat elsewhere.
Food was very good. Grilled Scallops and Shrimp a bit pricy at $33, but well executed and tasty. Side of spicy (harissa, raisins, capers) cauliflower served in a cast-iron pot was remarkably tasty. Server Patrick was exceptionally attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and wine options. Another server came by and folded my wife’s napkin when she stepped away from the table. The staff clearly pays attention to details of hospitality.
The Circular, despite their changes over the recent years, is always on their game. It is so very expensive, and we have found that the Saturday brunch is the best value during the week, and also is the least crowded and pleasant. I think it is now $29.00 per person. There is always a great variety of both fancy cuisine, and something basic, a carving station, and never miss the soups--they're outstanding, and of course the dessert buffet. You will always get a window seat, a lovely view, and easy access to the buffet. My favorite this time was various styles of fish sauteed in a lovely sauce, with delectable fennel. Of course it's always a great place for a special occasion--there was a large table next to us, celebrating a 98th birthday! Always a delightful experience!!
Very disappointed with both the appetizer and entree. Extremely salty duck that I barely touched. Noise level was ridiculous as there was a boisterous party being held. Even wait staff was rolling their eyes at the situation. Would not recommend and will not be going back. Very disappointed overall.
Food was delicious! It’s a lot of money but it’s nice to splurge once in awhile. I was impressed that the waitress knew we were celebrating our birthday and it was because I mentioned it when making a reservation on open table. Nothing was said to her directly. She brought over a dish with two cupcakes,
Hershey kisses and a plate that said happy birthday!
