The Churchill Hotel
Begin your visit with a relaxed tipple in the airy atrium, or cosy bar before taking a seat in the brighter, more spacey dining room. Here you’ll enjoy food with a fresh, seasonal flavour. Imaginative and but with a nod to traditionalism, The restaurant’s cuisine is skillfully and carefully prepared for you by the kitchen’s talented and well trained chefs.
Please note you are booking for the Brasserie and not the outdoor beer garden.

I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel, staff were lovely room was nice only issue was a dusty fan when we turned it on the dust went all over the floor but not that big of a deal. Love the outside area we never got a chance to use the atmosphere was lovely. If my partner and I come back to York we’d definitely stay at the hotel again.
P.s in love with the hats in the dinning room.
Excellent food and service, we were married there 10 years ago and try and go back to celebrate and never disappointed
The food was beautifully cooked and presented. The portions were not huge but the quality was there. I certainly left feeling pleasantly full. Reasonable wine list reasonably priced. We sat inside. The dining room was beautifully lit, as were the gardens.
We have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the hotel is excellent!
Excellent meal will stay again
This was our last night staying here at the hotel so we decided to stay in house to eat.
That was the worst decision we made, after being seated and left with a carafe of water we waited over 30 minutes for someone to take our drinks order, we then waited a further 30 minutes to receive our first course, after complaining to the duty manager we eventually received our main course which really left something to be desired, our fish was very wet and swimming in a pool of watery sauce, with micro vegetables and nota very good experience, we were not impressed as we also had our wine spilt whilst being poured and waiter did not return to clear the spillage until again I complained to the duty manager.we were not offered desserts or coffee which in hindsight was probably a good sign as it meant we did not waste any more of our hard earned cash.
After being seated at our table, we waited half an hour before anyone came to take our order. Our food order was taken and I had to ask if we could order drinks. We were seated in a smaller room off the main dining room and at this point we were the only diners in this area. It felt as though we had been forgotten as we couldn't been seen from the main dining area.
It then took another forty minutes for our first course to arrive. We then waited nearly as long for our desserts to arrive. We dined early on a weekday night so the restaurant was extremely quiet. There were only two or three other occupied tables for the majority of our time in there. Extremely disappointed for what was a special occasion.
Excellent meal and service. Despite being a new menu the chef had obviously cracked it straight away (even if both the waitress and I struggled with pronouncing one of the new desserts!)
I would definitely eat there again.
My sisters and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal at the Churchill.
The only downside was a rather loud group on the next table. Not unpleasant but just speaking without consideration for others.
Apart from that it was top notch.
Traditional, tasteful decor and menu, low lighting, friendly service. Enjoyable evening out - delicious starter and wine - though I found my burger/chips choice too salty to eat.
The food and drinks were lovely and so was the setting, however I feel it was a little too quiet and it made the atmosphere a tad flat. However, I would still come back and still recommend to others!
Breakfast was very good but I think it was a bit expensive.
My lamb was cooked perfectly, would've liked a bit more cream in the dauphonoise potatoes but they were nice. My partner said his fish and chips were too dry but the fish had a nice flavour. Drinks were nice and not too expensive. We really loved the decor and ambiance. Service from the young waiting staff was excellent.
Dark access to room
No air conditioning
Window would not open
Poor selection at breakfast for asking price
Pre booking for jus about every thing is a put me off
Charge for parking is another put me off
The beer garden concept cheapens the quality of this hotel
Dinner was for a birthday and this was detailed on my booking, but there was no acknowledgement of the occasion. Not even a token candle in the desert, not the end of the world but disappointing all the same.
Excellent all round. No complaints. Good service food and environment.
Enjoyed the food good social distancing and the service was very good
Lovely , good service fab food! Thanks! We’d love to get married here, hoping someone will eventually contact me regarding dates!
Very good food, could have been a bit quicker with the main course, but very tasty food and reasonable value.
Soup was nice. Mains came out quick but my steak was underdone, I asked to pop it back under to get it how I asked and it was returned chargrilled and tasted awful and burnt and chips were cold. My onion rings got brought out mid way through the meal and were so pale I couldn’t eat them, the lady that cleared my food saw that there was a full steak on the plate and a full bowl of onion rings and didn’t say a word, just returned with the bill. Eventually got offered free ice cream after bringing up the issue, but a £5 supplement for a £25 awful meal wasn’t the best option. Wouldn’t be dining here again if we were to come back to York.
I was surprised to have to sit outside in 6 degrees heat. The menu had been restricted to 4 mains due to “COVID” so no steak or pork belly I’d been looking forward to from their online menu. Made worse by the fact there was no notification online or when we arrived at the hotel.
Service was shocking. We had our mains thrown on the table. A second drinks order, ordered through the app wasn’t delivered until we were leaving.
I realise there are complications around the whole COVID situation, but Felt very disappointed by the whole experience.
Great food staff welcoming and friendly great place
Very nice hotel, the brasserie was lovely, food excellent and out waitress could not do enough for us.
Excellent hotel perfect location staff excellent & friendly
Grate food and good service set in a fantastic environment
Great food and service.
Lovely clean room . Food quality excellent and good portions. Selection of dishes was good. The staff were on the top of their game . Freindly and professional. Advice given on local things to do was very good with a map and directions. A short walk to all the center of York was a bonus with on site car parking. Reception was well managed. Thank you very much. Will go back
Delicious food, pleasant ambiance, great service.
Food was excellent, service fantastic. Staff were really good and could not do enough. Absolutely recommend.
Good choice, good presentation, overall excellent.
The food and ambience were pleasant but the young guy serving us was on another planet!
Great food and friendly service
Great service and good quality food. Prices are reasonable and the garden at the front is lovely.
We booked a table at the Dewsnap's Brasserie at the Churchill Hotel last minute on a Sunday and we definitely weren't disappointed. As soon as we got there, we were greeted by the attentive staff and shown to our table. The service throughout our meal was outstanding and the food was exceptional. The ambience of the brasserie was relaxed and chilled and the décor of the restaurant was stunning. Even though we were inside for our meal, we noticed the lovely outside area and we will definitely be returning to sit outside very soon.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Well worth a visit, especially now they have the lovely garden area with heaters and plenty of blankets for cooler evenings.
We had a very good meal. Great staff. Excellent NZ white.
Ok menu choices but service was outstanding with friendly ambience. Found restaurant a little quiet (although busy) but these things are subjective / down to personal preferences.
Nice venue and food
I am adding these words because it has to be a min 50 character before I can go to the next screen
Great staff - very warm and friendly.
Food was excellent and all great value
Lovely quirky restaurant. Food good would definitely return
