The Chop House - Grand Rapids Ratings and Reviews
This place is scrumptious! The lobster cakes and cowboy steak are to die for.
I only gave the service a 3 because we told our waitress in the beginning that it was my birthday and she forgot. Since we came the year before for my birthday I know I was supposed to get a cute dessert saying Happy Birthday, and was disappointed that it was not offered, because she forgot😢
My boyfriend and I went to The Chop House for Valentine's Day. We had a wonderful dinner and were given EXCELLENT service by our waitress. Our food was delicious, albeit the potatoes were a little underdone. The atmosphere was pleasant, although their "mood lighting" was a little too dark. All in all, we had a great time and the food and drinks were good. Would highly recommend their Pepper & Coriander Crusted Tuna.
First I was 25 minutes early for my reservation and they took our coats and seated us immediately so we're off to a great start. I asked for a quiet corner and got just that. Lobster bisque was to die for and when we split it the accommodation was perfect. Filet's were cooked to perfection my wasn't the best cut ever but it was still awesome. Our waiter was good as was everyone we encountered. I highly recommend the chop house
We like the chop house and go there to celebrate birthdays and special occasions. We had a business dinner to attend and I recommended the chop house for this dinner because of the great experiences we have always had. I was disappointed this time. My filet was cooked like I had asked but the meat was extremely dry this time. I did not want to send it back or make a complaint as this was a business meeting that I was attending and also because I had made the recommendation of the restaurant. It must have just been a bad piece of meat. Not their typical norm. I will be back.
We dined here for a birthday and what a great place. We had amazing salads and soups to start and due to a delay in getting our steaks (from a large order going through) the manager came over, explained what was happening, and comped our entree’s!! Steaks were fantastic, sides were great as well.
Must try the creme brûlée cheesecake...OMG!!
From when we entered to when we left everything was fantastic, definitely our go to place for a fantastic meal in an awesome setting.
Great dinner, celebrating our son-in-law and daughter buying their first house. Catherine was our server and did a GREAT job, explaining menu choices and options. Matt much to our surprise sent over champagne for a toast after dinner (really a classy touch). Overall it was a wonderful evening, outstanding food, exceptional service (nice touch with "Congrats" on the desert). Thank you for a wonderful evening.
This was our first visit to The Chop House, and we will definitely return.
We were celebrating a very special birthday and the whole experience was wonderful.
Noelle was very attentive and made our evening top notch.
From the ambiance, to the service to the food, well deserved rating.
We were promptly seated, drinks and appetizers followed nicely. we weren't rushed. The food, in my opinion, was average. Having dined here before, I was expecting a food experience, an uplifting taste that would say"WOW". But tonight, this was not the case. The lamb ribs were done to our request, but were placed on the plate with no garnishment of any color at all. The crab/lobster cakes were buried under a mound of onion straws - I had to dig down to see the cakes. I've been to other establishments that made the food a piece of art. Sadly, this was not the case.
The service was excellent. However, the broccoli came with a slab of Parmesan that was melted but became chewy as it cooled. The broccoli was tough and chewy also. The 11 oz filet was under cooked for medium. I much prefer grated cheese for my salad and broccoli than slices. If I were to go there again, I would ask for grated cheese and medium well done meat. I would recommend The Chop House with caution.
The Chop House is hands down our favorite place in Grand Rapids for a special occasion. Their attentive service makes you feel like you’re the only person in the restaurant and the food is exceptionally delicious. We will continue to make The Chop House our go-to place for celebrations.
Everything was good with one exception, my Beef Wellington was overcooked. I had asked for something towards "medium well" and the waitress said she wasn't sure the kitchen could do it. Nothing more was said and when my entree came out is was way past medium well to well done +. And I think they have microwaved it because the meat was scalding hot when it arrived. I should have sent it back but foolishly did not because it would have taken too long. Terrible waste of a $50 entree. They did offer us desert on the house but after the fact is never really compensation for something poorly done.
