The Chop House - Charleston
for any occaission the experience is memorable and well worth the money on all levels.
A wonderful evening
Truly a fine dining experience, yet not stuffy or pretentious. Excellent food - with a large number of appealing suggestions on the menu - and friendly, attentive service.
The food and service was very good. I’ll definitely be enjoying it again.
Most everything is very good to excellent. However, a high end dining establishment such as this should not list a porter as a lager on its menu, and should not serve creme brulee cold.
Wow what a gem of a restaurant. The wait staff was great and the steaks that we ordered were the right temperature and were just spectacular. Will go again when in Charleston.
First off if you've never been here before the prices are a little high. However, the food here is about as perfect as you can get. I had an 11 oz filet mignon creamed corn and scalloped potatoes are they were fantastic. The staff here is about as helpful as any staff that I've ever seen. Everyone genuinely seems to care about you and the quality of your food. This place is definitely worth a repeat trip.
Travis, our Server is New.
He did an excellent job in taking care of us.
Even though he is new, he gave us several excellent Menu suggestions.
He will be an excellent Employee for The Chop House.
Great service from the moment you step foot inside. Food is incredible. Beautiful atmosphere.
Derek, the bartender, and Bryant, our waiter, provided excellent service with a very personal touch.
Apart from the gluten free dinner roll that I found rather gelatinous, the food-lobster bisque and lamb chops-was was excellent. The vanilla ice cream is outstanding too!
The birthday half-off deal is the bomb! Go to place for special occasions.
Ate dinner at the bar, tiffany's service was excellent!
We requested a bar room only table. We were going to a concert and knew that is where would we like to sit. I put my request in with my reservation. Upon arrival, we were told that the table wasn’t available in the bar, but they could accommodate us at a regular table. BUT, there was an empty table in the bar with a reserved sign on it. The host proceeded to tell us that he knew that we requested a bar table but the empty table was for someone who had a reservation before us. This could not have been true. There is no way that EVERY bar table was reserved before us. We made our reservation a week and a half before our arrival. we noticed a four person table on the patio while walking in and decided to take it, opposed to the dining room area. I was very disappointed in the way that my party and I were treated.
On another note, our waitress was incredible. She had a total of ten tables and was very apologetic when our food and drinks took forever! We actually received our appetizers before any bar drinks.
Excellent all around! Halibut special is the best! Service was top notch! A little pricey but worth every penny and then some.
Enjoyed our dinner for 2 - we both had the filet which was cooked to perfection and was easily cut with a fork. Dessert was on the house because I am recovering from brain surgery. The service was excellent! Highly recommend and will return.
We were celebrating a birthday and everything was wonderful, as usual!
The filets were delicious. We also enjoyed the Brazilian cheese bread made with tapioca flour and Parmesan cheese.
I ordered birthday cake to be presented and they didn’t bother looking at my request nice server made it lovely. My first lemon drop had almost no alcohol in it so I had to get another one (on the house).
We originally had a large party and the manager was very helpful and flexible. The food was tasty but everything was cold. When we told our server she just shrugged. When you pay $40 for a steak, they should be a little more apologetic.
We chose several appetizers and salads as our main meal. I had the lobster crab cakes which were amazing. My husband and I both had salads which were fresh and crisp. The popovers were very tasty. Our server Mateo was very helpful and attentive. Overall an enjoyable evening
Misleading wine list. Promised a 2013 Cakebread, server brought a 2016.
Seafood platter didn’t have lobster on it...
Fast and responsive service. Filet mignon tender, and nice special included garlic mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli.
Friendly waiter. Nice experience.
Love it every time
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner because they provide 50% off a bill for 1-2 people on a birthday. It was a magnificent experience! Our server was wonderful, the manager came around and made sure everything was good, and the food was delicious. He thoroughly enjoyed his steak, saying it was probably the best he’d ever had. I’m a vegetarian so I didn’t partake in the steak but I had a wonderful kale and quinoa salad and we shared the Mac and cheese and grilled asparagus. It was all so delicious we wish we could have it again today! We also took a scrumptious piece of cheesecake home with us and wished we had gotten two so we could’ve each had our own. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a fine dining experience in Charleston.
As always the food was wonderful. Service is always the best. We will be back.
Great food and service. Highly recommended. Atmosphere was prefect as well.
For the dollar spent, I would have expected far more in the way of satisfaction with the food and the service. When one orders a bottle, it’s customary for the server to refill when dining at a place of this caliber. The food was ok but I’ve had far better at similarly priced establishments. The courses were served in quick succession with little break btw and ultimately it left us feeling like we were eating vs dining. You pay for a place like this to allow you to dine. The place was not that busy or in need of the table. In addition, my meal was lukewarm. Overall, not a great experience.
A relaxing evening out with another couple. Our service, food and whole experience was wonderful.
The food is absolutely delicious and the service is top notch!
Food as usual was great. For the first time since I have been going the service was totally unacceptable. Especially for the price.
Evening at Chop House was disappointing. It was my husand’s birthday and we had gone to celebrate. We love to go there and what a value to get a free meal for a Birthday! We were seated at a table in a corner with no light. It was very difficult to see. The hostess even apologized for bad lighting. I looked around and we were seated at darkest table. Our waiter did the minimum. He took order and brought food with nothing in between. My water glass was never filled the entire meal. I felt ignored and not privy to the great service we have received in the past. Maybe we were treated differently since we got a free meal. Maybe it wasn5 the case but it is how we felt!
We celebrated an "out-of-town" friend's birthday. They were impressed and we had a delightful experience. Chop House has a very attentive wait staff, great menu and they're a bit pricey, but well worth it. As always, we'll be back.
My suggestion is that when Open Table is used for a reservation the restaurant should honor it as quickly as possible. In this case, it was not. We waited along with every one else who arrived withOUT a reservation which was 35 minutes beyond our reservation time.
We had a phenomenal meal. The steaks were cooked to perfection and our sides were delicious. Our waitress was knowledgeable and most helpful in our menu and wine decisions. She gave us outstanding service.
The only negative to the whole experience was just a touch more light, not a lot but just a little more. The table visit by the Manager was abrupt and presented as he was annoyed to do it. His longer hair appeared to be greasy and unkept. His lack of charm and appearance did not fit the Chop House nobility and sophistication.
I will always recommend the Chop House, the food and service are always outstanding!!
Service was slow but they recognized it. Food is high price so value not great. Food is good and good wine list.
Dinner at The Chop House is a special treat. I reccomend trying the grilled romaine salad. My filet was prepared perfectly, and the meat melted in my mouth. The dining room was tranquil and quiet, which was great after a long day at work. Our server, Renee, was pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. The manager came by the table to ensure we had a pleasant experience. Overall, it is everything you expect when eating at a fine dining establishment. I look forward to my next visit.
This was our first time here &, won’t be our last! Our service from Matayo, was outstanding. He was attentive, quick &, informative with menu questions. We had the lamb lollipops that where so tender you didn’t need a knife, along with out filet & New York strip. Cooked to perfection! Also, the sides where just as good, potatoes au gratin and broccoli. Even the martinis and dessert, cremé The best meal weve ever had. We can’t wait to go back!!
The staff here couldn't be better. They are very attentive and are friendly. One of our servers was an intern and I can honestly say he's an asset to the Restaurant. Thank you for making my birthday dinner a very enjoyable experience.
The food was good as usual. The lighting was a little too dim at our table and a little crowded. My husband is 6’ 5”, but most aggravating thing was the table was extremely wobbly. When my husband cut his romaine salad it splashed my water out of the glass. Missed having the bread and crackers on the table. Over all we enjoyed the meal but felt the restaraunt has gone down hill. The ladies restroom was closed for at lease a half and hour for burnt out light bulb.
