Our server, Bryant, was excellent and our meals were delicious. My husband had the filet special....meat was cooked to perfection. I had crab cakes and they had very little filler and lots of crab and lobster. We always go here for special occasions.
My negative feedback is principally because of Brian, the server, who was rude, ignored us when we attempted to contact him and had his own agenda. I rarely say this but this guy needs to be fired.
Tiffany, bar tender, is terrific! Very personable and knowledgeable, polite, hard working. She handled a busy bar with the mastery of a veteran, which she is.
Conclusion: the food was good but wasn’t tremendous. For the money, go somewhere else.
Awesome place. Pricey, but you are going to pay for quality steak anywhere. Literally one of the best filets you will eat in the state. Be prepared to drop 150-200 dollars for two people. Would highly recommend though!
There are no crackers or appetizers routinely brought to your table anymore. The waiter first said he would bring me bread. He returned with a plate full of butter & 1 (one) very small roll & never offered to bring more.
Their menu mentioned a 1lb baked potato. I received a small potato that had been split lengthwise & chopped up to give the illusion of more volume.
I ordered a well done porterhouse steak. The small steak I was served was red (not pink) in the middle.
I ordered a glass of merlot with the entree & asked the waiter if he could make a suggestion. I was told there was only one Merlot they offered by the glass.
The food was very good. Our server was just ‘good’. Not what I expect at a restaurant of this caliber.
Arrived on time and were immediately seated. The waitress appeared quickly and took our drink order which was promptly served. She gave us just enough time to relax and enjoy our drinks before reappear to explain the menu and take our order. Four of us had filets and I had the venison chop. All were prepared perfectly. A general comment was “among the best fillets they had ever had”. The venison was also excellent. They also pour an excellent drink.
For dessert I recommend there flourless chocolate cake. It is unbelievable.
The restaurant is not inexpensive but it is well worth the price.
Our steaks were great, but they always are!!
It was a great dinner with great service! The food was fantastic.
The Chop House gave us a great evening as a married couple needing a wonderful and memorable meal. Very thankful for the staff and chefs for providing a fantastic evening!
Excellent service from our waiter and the food was great!
We have been to Chophouse dozens of times. Consistently great service. Food is always very good. Menu doesn’t vary as much as I would like to see, but then we also always know what great selections we will have. Overall a very valuable option in our city.
Fabulous service and the food was to die for!
This was my second visit over the last two years. We all ordered the beef tenderloin and all were cooking to perfection. The quality of the meat was exceptional. Every bit was tender and had no fat or grissel. Would suggest a small compliment of specialty scauce to help with palatability. Maybe a small garnish would help with plate appearance. The first time we were there we were impressed with specialty bread made with basil and garlic. These breads were memorable and was slightly disappointed to receive a small cheese filled bread that was rather heavy and somewhat oily. Would suggest going back to the lighter specialty breads and please provide a larger quantity. It would have complimented the salad to have a bread available to accent a super balsamic vinigaret. The vinegaret would have meshed better with the salad if there was a variety of vegetables rather than just chopped lettuce. The coke beverage was delivered in a glass that was poured into my glass on the table. Transferring carbonated beverages from one container to the next causes the liquid to lose carbonation. My beverage was almost flat. The cola companies have a science behind carbonation and the quality if their products cannot be maintained if the intended amount of carbonation is not present. Consider changing policies. The restroom was clean but the hand towels were dispensed in a basket. Previous users let a lot of residual mosture on the remaining towels in the basket. The wait staff was very professional but should allow customers to apply their own butter, sour cream and shallots to the baked potatoes. People know how much or how little to apply and it is cumbersome for waiters to scoop the round butter patties onto a baked potato for an entire table where everyone has ordered a baked potato. Change this policy and your staff will applaud you. Will plan on coming back for the next concert at the Civic Center and will decide if it will continue to be our spot to eat.
Great food, great atmosphere, wonderful/ knowledgeable/ personable waiter
great experience food is excelent service was outstanding would eat there again
It was my boyfriend’s birthday and the staff helped me to surprise him by bringing out chocolate cake with a candle. He received lots of birthday wishes from the staff and he felt very special. The food was exceptionally good!
Meal was good but was probably a little overpriced.
The bread has been removed and replaced with a bizarre Parmesan gluten free cheese ball type “roll”. I understand trying to be creative but it was unsatisfying and simply odd. I think the bread assortment should still be available. Otherwise the food and atmosphere are still excellent.
I had a great birthday dinner with my out-of-state boyfriend. He thought everything from food to service was amazing.
Nice ambiance and great deal for birthday meal. Overall a little overpriced for what it is, but food was very good.
Great filet mignon, chiefly cooked it to order—medium rare. Well prepared broccoli side dish, not steamed too much—just right!
Fantastic food and ambiance. Excellent and professional staff!
It was a wonderful experience from reservation to end of our time at Chop House. The service and food was fabulous!!
Exceptional service. Just not pleased with our meal; especially at those prices, we expected better. Venison chops, although seasoned but at this juncture, we’re in no hurry to return.
The service is first class, the food is masterfully prepared and presented. The restaurant is quiet and very well suited for a date or special occasion.
The dinner was very good but we really
missed the assorted bread / cracker plate that you had in the past. The cheese pastry didn't measure up. Our waitress tried hard but because of all the tables that she had she couldn’t serve us as expected of a restaurant of your quality.
Excellent salmon! Good wine choices. Great steamed broccoli! Salmon served with sautéed spinach. Chocolate decadence desert was good, but because raspberries were out of season, the dessert lacked the menue described sauce.
A well-aged filet does not necessarily guarantee great taste. Nothing beats a ribeye for flavor. And why when there are only three occupied tables do they place everyone next to each other. The guests next to us were very loud.
Superb filet mug on, perfectly cooked to order! Nice side dishes, also.
Food quality is taking a turn downwards, maybe it was an off night. I’ve had plenty of good meals here. They should work on their pork chop, could be much better.
WE HAD A DELICIOUS MEAL AND GREAT SERVICE. I CANNOT STOP THINKING ABOUT THE CREME BRULEE.
Excellent across the board. Always try to visit when in Charleston, WV.
I took my wife here for her birthday. We sat in the bar/lounge area where it is quiet and cozy. Our waitress was attentive but not overbearing. The wine list, though not extensive, is full of great choices. We both ordered steaks, and they were prepared perfectly. Prices are on the higher end, but that is what you'd expect to receive this level of service and quality.
Linda was fantastic. Always a perfect evening with perfect food at the chop house. Thank you!
My wife and I split an 11oz filet, it was cooked to the proper temperature, full of flavor and extremely tender. We were traveling so unfortunately we can’t go to The Chop House more often.
Strip steak was difficult to cut and under cooked. Otherwise good place for a working
Excellent food. Bianca was our server. She was very friendly and knowledgeable.
Great food and service.
Fabulous dinner, atmosphere, and the service was the best ever!!
