The Chop House - Annapolis Ratings and Reviews
Great steak house. Expensive but that is part of the steakhouse experience. Very good food and service. We found it comparable to local favorite Lewnes but with a brighter atmosphere. Great birthday deal helped us afford giving it a try. See details on their website.
We had an absolutely wonderful experience! It was my wife’s birthday and she felt very special and pampered. Everyone who helped us did a great job, but in particular I would like to mention the special care shown by our main server Ariadne, our water and bread server Michael, and the dinner manager! We have had many meals at this Chop House since its opening in Annapolis and this has been one of our most enjoyable.
After reading other reviews I feel liked I dined in a different restaurant. Service was friendly and they aim to please. The iceberg in our wedge salad was limp. They were out of 3 of 4 dishes we ordered. How does a steakhouse run out of mushrooms, potatoes au gratin, and lobster? We settled for a baked potato and it came out 10-minutes after our entrees. Our steaks did not have the sear I expect out of a serious steakhouse. The best part of the meal was the peanut butter bombe. Bottom line: if I am going to spend Chop House prices, I will go to Lewnes’ in Eastport/Annapolis.
We were kindly greeted upon arrival and seated earlier than reservation. Staff were professional, informative and friendly. The dim lights and distance between tables provide for comfort and privacy. The food was fresh, cooked perfect as ordered and delicious - filet mignon melts in your mouth! Enjoyable time as always - oh, and happy hour is also a fantastic bang for your buck!
So I will never be coming back to this place again. So supposedly corporate came here and totally cut the menu in half and decided to keep what they thought are the good cuts of meat. In reality it was just the steaks that sold better than the rest. They got rid or all the unique cuts that set them apart from just being a typical chain steakhouse. I was not the only one in my party that felt the same way. Our waiter Ryan E. was great. Even when we were complaining about the new menu. He went to the chef and tried to see what and if he could do anything. Unfortunately there was nothing he could do so I had to order off the menu. I went for the porterhouse but it was nothing like the Outlaw Ribeye. There was just no flavor. I was about to go to Mission BBQ to get their black plate special which was a rancher steak this moIt ruined my birthday and will not return until they go back to what made them different from the others.
Another wonderful visit to The Chop House. The filet special was AWESOME - definitely ask for it. This has been our favorite restaurant for quite awhile now, and the main reason for that is consistency in terms of the quality of the food, the stellar service, and finally the creativity of the Chef - that consistency is rock solid. We look forward to returning in a couple of weeks to celebrate a birthday!
