The Chop House - Ann Arbor Ratings and Reviews
Me and my now fiancé came to the Chophouse for our anniversary. The food was of course amazing and our service was beyond subperb. My boyfriend had planned the perfect proposal and our server went above and beyond at helping him make it perfect. Having another server record the proposal and all the servers, managers, and other guests that came by and congratulated us made the night so special for us. Thank you for helping make the night the best one of my life.
This restaurant has been our go-to place for birthdays. Unfortunately, the menu hasn't changed in over 20 years. The meal we had was not cooked to our satisfaction. The dover sole was fishy and even the manager agreed, suggesting the oil may not have been good. The steak we ordered well done was bloody. The manager did take off the fish as I was unable to eat it and offered to replace it but it was too late. I lost my appetite. Main Street Venture restaurants are no bargain when the food is so uninspiring and definitely not fresh. Take a road trip to Common Grill to find out how food is prepared and served.
Having been to most of the great steakhouses in the US, I find it annoying when a restaurant tries to emulate them in price only and leaves quality and taste relegated to trash heap. Unfortunately this was the case with the chop house in Ann Arbor. Needless to say it was mediocre meal with a bored waiter at exorbitant prices . Never again
We visit a few times a year. My husband rescheduled our vacation to go for his birthday. Great place for lovers. It's such a great experience. We both love the Cowboy Ribeye (blackened & BBQ). We drive from West Bloomfield for this great place. Happy eating! Thank you S & S!
The Chop House offers a phenomenal steak along with great service, a nice location and a good selection of drinks and other menu items.
The baked French onion soup is one of the best I’ve had.
I enjoyed the peppery steak au poivre during my last visit and it might be the most enjoyable steak I’ve had. Great cut of meat and very flavorful sauce and seasoning.
Our server was very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable.
Thanks for an awesome dinner!
Outstanding bar with great mixed drinks.
Inspired desserts like choc bombe filled with fruit mousse.
Recommend the seared scallops, filet mignon, sweet potato, brussels. Caesar and seared romaine salads just so-so.
Restrooms downstairs are thick with cigar smoke.
Perfect service. Filet was great, prepared perfectly. My porterhouse steak was 30% inedible, much gristle, veins, etc, otherwise prepared as requested. This was thebfirst time I ever ordered porterhouse, will never again order it at Chop House, will order filet.
Wonderful experience our 1st time there celebrating my birthday. Very attentive staff and our waiter ( I believe his name was Andrew) was great! The food was excellent. I had the filet and my husband had the scallops. We split the Roasted Romaine salad which was still huge as a 1/2 portion. Our waiter guided us appropriately for menu choices and all his suggestions were good ones. We will definitely be back.
I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a traditional high end Steak House from years past. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The Beef Wellington was amazing and the house salad with real Roquefort cheese was delicious. Service was excellent - well-timed and friendly.
Our server was fantastic. He really made our night worthwhile and truly made it an experience to remember. His recommendations were spot on and we appreciated his feedback on dishes we were in between. We haven't had that great of service in a long time and it was really appreciated.
Had a great experience overall at Chop House - the food was delicious and the service was good. The only downside was the location of our table; my girlfriend and I were seated at a four-person table on the main aisle (the seats immediately next to the aisle) that was near the kitchen, so we had *constant* server traffic swooping by at a fast pace, holding trays over our heads as they passed. It was just distracting enough to take away from the intimacy of the evening - a two-person table along the wall would have been preferable.
