The Chop House - Ann Arbor
Once again we had a wonderful experience at the chop house. The menu is fairly classic but two relatively recent additions have increased our pleasure there: first, they’ve replaced the bread basket with delicious freshly baked Parmesan popovers, and secondly they have a very talented seafood chef. We dined on tuna, gnocchi with red crab, Brussels sprouts and sautéed mushrooms. Everything was perfectly cooked, seasoned and served. This remains our favorite restaurant for celebrations.
Amazing food great service . amazing steaks and salads ... Wine selection just wow
Beef Wellington this time was outstanding with all the components of the dish, such as the liver pate and the mushrooms, making their presence known. Delicious. Service was great as always though the food was a bit slow, perhaps because it was being prepared to order so this is understandable. Everyone is exceptionally friendly and thoughtful. What a pleasure!
I have been here twice the first time June 2015 for my birthday and it was amazing. The second January 2018 for restaurant week, and while the service both times was phenomenal, my steak for restaurant week was terrible.
Food was amazing. Best steak i ever had and I travel a lot. The waiter was nice and knowledgeable about the menu and I took his advice and got the cowboy steak plain. Incredible . Sides are shareable ! The birthday deal they give you is so good we will be back for my birthday! Also even if your full get the cheesecake! It’s just as good the next day!
Went during restaurant week. Given it's excellent reviews, expected an experience to warrant becoming an on-going customer. We were very disappointed. Salad was nothing exceptional. Interesting that there were bread plates on the table but no bread served or offered. My Wagyu beef was difficult to cut with a steak knife and very chewy, not at all tender. Waitress did not ask how I wanted the steak done. The brownie dessert had some flavor but the brownie was very dry. The one good dish was the one that we paid extra for - a brussel sprouts side. All in all, very disappointing. We will not be back.
Used to dine at the Chop House often. Horrible experience this time; dessert was precut and dry, drinks were spilled by servers twice and one drink ordered at appetizer serving didn't arrive until after main course was finished, mashed potatoes were cold, vegetables were undercooked (couldn't even put my fork in my carrot) and meat was tough. Not what one would expect from the Chop House. Very disappointing and won't be back!
a totally enjoyable evening. Everything was perfect ! Thank you Sheldon
Restaurant Week dinner, very disappointing not usual quality
Ann Arbor Restaurant Week
Par Excellent! The lobster bites (scrumptious), lollipop lamb chops (great deal), the cowboy (ribeye) steak, and the scallops (beautifully plated) were cooked to perfection. Our server, Annise, provided superb service and the manager on duty made sure that we were pleased with our entree selections.
This is a favorite spot for us; we return for the quality food and great service.
Good food. Good service
Amazing dinner tonight! Loved our meals and the ambiance. Our waitress was awesome.
I'm never disappointed by The Chop House. From cocktails to entrees to desserts, everything is excellently prepared. Portions are outstanding also. Service is second to none, waitstaff is accessible but never overbearing.
We were celebrating my daughter's recent graduation from university. The meals all steaks were exceptional! The service was spot on and the wine was a perfect pairing. Overall, we truly enjoyed our visit, the food and the service.
The salad dressings were awful and we have dined here before. Everything was VERY salty. The wine steward was great. Our male waiter seemed put out when I ordered a Spanish coffee. The entire night seemed he was doing us a favor in serving. On a side note. Very slow evening. Many empty tables for a Friday evening. Will not return.
Would have been a perfect evening if the server had given us all of the leftovers to take home. For some reason, she really skimped on one dish.
It was a great place for New Year’s Eve dinner!!
Great restaurant and food
It was a wonderful experience. We will definitely visit again.
The food was wonderful but the service was very slow. It took almost two hours to have a meal paired with a salad and no dessert. I understand fine dining is an experience but two hours is a bit much.
Annise our server was spectacular...what a gem. Made the evening great despite the hustle and bustle from our seating.
Always a delight to eat at the Ann Arbor Chop House. Our waitress was efficient, pleasant and funny every time she visited our table. The food is fabulous. I had the French Onion Soup for the first time and it was delicious. Instead of the usual bread basket they had a gluten free cheese filled muffin (okay, that's not what she called it but...) that was a nice change. We were too full for dessert.
They did a great job. It was birthday with family. They were amazing with all of there professional courtesy.
Usually the food is awesome. This time it was not. Our crab cake appetizer was over cooked on the outside and raw inside.
I sent my steak back because it was chewy and grizzly. The asparagus was too thick and very fiberous.
My husband had the Chilean Sea Bass and was up all night in the bathroom.
Just very disappointed with our meal.
Service was just so so.
Extraordinary Christmas Eve dinner with my family.Excellent and memorable.
Excellent service and experience as always. Our server Pam was exceptional! Highly recommend!
9 year anniversary
Perfect as always!!
The service was extremely below standard. All of our food came out lukewarm and not prepared to the expected quality. Very disappointing. In addition to this the cigar bar refuse to serve us after the wait staff forgot to put us on the list therefore we missed the “last call”. When this was brought to the attention of the manager on duty said there was nothing her could due. The waitress customer service was poor.
We had an awesome meal. The French onion soup was amazing. The steaks were cooked perfectly. The banana fosters bread pudding was like I had never tasted before. Sindy did an amazing job. Hope to have her wait on us again.
Fantastic service. Good food with a price to match. Expensive but great for a special occasion.
Food was awesome service was awesome, a little bit pricey.
Superior wait service, exquisite food, fantastic ambiance.
The food is always the best and the service is awesome without being overbearing. We love both Pam and Sheldon as servers.
As always excellent service and outstanding food. Delightful wine and always a bag of good leftovers for lunches
Birthday excellent service
As always it was amazing!
Always an amazing experience and impeccable food whenever I go there. I have been going every birthday of mine and my friends’ for the past 4-5 years, particularly because of the birthday deal. Overall would highly highly recommend if around the Ann Arbor area and looking for an exquisite meal. Very pricey though! That’s why the birthday deal is impossible to miss.
Our always favorite special occasion restaurant, especially once they added seafood to the menu. We started with the very flavorful lobster bisque (and the wonderful cheesy popovers) and followed with gnocchi, sea bass and crab and lobster cakes. Service was attentive, food was excellent. Desserts tend to very traditional, and we passed on those this time. Instead, they served delicious rich truffles.
