Service was fantastic. Food was delicious. Wonderful place for special occassions
It was amazing! The food and service were excellent.
The Chop House has been consistently top notch. The most tender lamb chops I’ve had in many years. Though a solid upscale meal the service was warm and inviting (thanks, Malina!). One of my recommended places for a higher end meal in the Ann Arbor area. Take your time and get dessert.
Excellent service and meal. Expecially great value for birthday celebrations, given the discount.
The menu has a wide variety of choices and the food was delicious. Only complaint is that it is extremely pricey.
Celebrated my birthday tonight at the Chop House. Beef Wellington was very delicious. Service was outstanding as usual.
We took out our daughter and son in law, as they just moved back with him getting out of the Marines. We love it here and brought them for their first time. Great Food, Layed Back, Love It!
Went after a football game. Brought out wrong wine, right winery, wrong year. Ordered different bottle and same mistake. Meat was mediocre.
Our family loves the chop house. The cocktails are wonderful, and they have a happy hour with $5 drinks if you sit on the bar side (where it's first come first served). But it's worth getting a reservation, especially if you plan to eat here on the weekend. The filet mignon with the au poivre sauce is so delicious, and just melts in your mouth. The accompaniments we tried were also wonderful, including the spinach with garlic, garlic smashed potatoes and potatoes au gratin. The lobster bisque was also incredible. So far we've been too full to try the dessert, but I'm sure that will be equally impressive!
We always receive excellent service and fantastic food, regardless of the occasion.
Food, staff and service were all excellent! Surprise Bday party in Carr room!
Both our steaks had to be returned to be cooked more;
They forgot the Oscar and didn’t apologize at all. Took 15+ minutes to bring it (Oscar) out after the fact and then realized the steak and everything else should be warmed up again because of the delays in delivering everything we ordered and then to re-cook the steaks. Total disaster for a $400 meal!
Had the lobster bisque (without the sherrie sidecar) and French onion soup to start, both were outstanding. Husband had the steak au poivre, I had the beef Wellington and we shared the potatoes au gratin. Be warned the beef Wellington is done very rare but that's fine with me and it was amazing! Husband was very happy with his steak. The potatoes were a huge serving and just ok, but got a tip from the waiter that he fried them up for breakfast so we had steak and potatoes for breakfast the next day :). Finished with creme brulee and a French coffee, everything delicious!
Excellent services. Pam was beyond terrific. Love the electronic menu on the tablet. The food was wonderful. It was a great experience.
We had a group of 5 visiting Ann Arbor for the weekend. We took in the Michigan football and hockey games and, in between, wanted to treat ourselves to a special meal. We couldn't have made a better choice than the Chop House. The food, service and atmosphere were phenomenal. This will be an annual destination.
Outstanding meal, service and experience- I’d come back to Anne Arbor just to eat there again!
Great family dinner. The steak is fabulous and we love the wine list. Very extensive and great selection in an array of price points. Highly recommend The Chophouse! Fantastic food and service.
Disappointed that the table I requested and the server i requested were not honored. I specifically asked for a certain server and table and that was overlooked completely.I don’t believe they read my comments for the evening, I had guests from out of town and I wanted a certain table and server. Perhaps they didn’t see the notes I had left in the special requests section.
The food was phenomenal. The steaks were some of the best I have ever had. Their crab gnocche was also amazing. The Moroccan shrimp was great.
My wife and I waited about 10-15 minutes for anyone to come to our table after being seated, so that was disappointing. Our service otherwise was great. Lastly, the drinks were disgusting. That’s not hyperbole. My old fashioned tasted like watered down grain alcohol with a hint of citrus. My wife’s pomegranate martini tasted like cough syrup. Simply inexcusable at such a place.
I gave the restaurant four stars overall because the food quality redeemed the negative aspects. If you desire a drink before/with dinner, I suggest you have wine or beer.
Excellent food and service
This is the premium dining destination in Ann Arbor.
Beef wellington served cold
They took it back and warned it up and it tasted bad and congealed when it came back and waiter argued with me that I didnot understand what medium rare meant.
Our server made the evening even better....I want to say Anna - name escapes me at the moment.
I had a great experience with the place, food and service. However when paying the bill they made me walk out to get cash from a atm machine because their card machine was not accepting my card, which had no problems at all.
We have been here twice a year for 10 years for birthdays.
First year we were disappointed with the steak....one cowboy and one strip steak.
They were thin, grisly and no taste.
The bread basket is no more, replaced with a heavy, cheesy popover.
Drinks, shrimp cocktail, augratin potatoes,Brussels sprouts and dessert were as goo as usual!
Let’s get back to a great steak!
As usual, a very enjoyable experience. One of our favorites in Ann Arbor.
Always consistent and the best restaurant in Ann Arbor
This is plainly one of the best restaurants in Ann Arbor -- I would personally put it in the top 3. Food, service, and ambiance all hit the bull's-eye.
This was probably one of the least attentive service we have ever had there. We usually go 3 times a year. We were just the two of us and it seemed the larger table got the most attention. Bummer. The Cowboy steak was rare. Medium rare was our order. The flavor was excellent however. The wedge salad was meh. I usually get it with ranch dressing. They changed ranch brands. This one is terrible. I’d like the old one back. Hidden Valley Ranch powder with mayo is what it used to taste like. We celebrated our 13 yr anniversary. We received two fudge balls and happy anniversary spelled out in chocolate. Nice touch. Thank you.
Excellent service and great food! When the wine we picked wasn't available, the manager came over and recommended one that tasted excellent for just a few $ more. We loved our first visit here and will definitely be back next time we're in Ann Arbor!
Traditional steak house, no surprises and it delivers exactly what you came for: excellent cuts of beef cooked to perfection.
Yearly trip - always a good date night - excellent food and service
Every time I’m in town I have to have dinner here. One of the best steakhouses I’ve been.
We go there at least once a season to celebrate a UofM football victory (hopefully). The food and service are always excellent and worth the price.
We had a wonderful dinner with wonderful service.
Went for birthday celebration. The meal was fantastic. The service was also fantastic. Really loved the rolls provided before the meal. May be are most favorite restaurant ever! Definitely will be back.
From start to finish everything was prepared perfectly. Wait staff was attentive but not overwhelming. Food was excellent. High end dining but you get what you pay for and it’s worth the $! Enjoy.
Service was very responsive. Waiter was helpful in describing temperature of meats. Pricey with all sides extra. I did not appreciate a big difference in flavor of the steaks. As part of Main Street Ventures , we chose this for the birthday discount. When we mentioned the birthday to the waiter, we received the full bill (expected, so as to reflect the actual amount to tip), and no instruction that if we provide a drivers license, the bill would be adjuated. We double checked that this actually was Main Street and then asked. Only then did the waiter mention this. I
Service was prompt and it was on a gameday. Appetizer was calamari and although it was good, it was not as good as the last time I dined here. We ordered the hand rubbed aged Waygu steaks. They were delicious but I believe I can grill meat from Wal Mart or Sams to the same outstanding level for significantly lower cost. I don't believe I'll go back again unless its for a special event and even then there are other great restaurants in the area that might take preference.
Food was fantastic. Service was ok. Plan to spend $$ but if the price point surprises you then this isn’t the place for you.
They tried to handle our allergy concerns well but my son with a dairy allergy had goat cheese on his lamb lollipops the first AND second time they brought it out.
They forgot my Voss water and my daughter’s lemons for her water. When they brought the Voss water out they mixed it with my tap water instead of getting me a new glass.
Our shrimp cocktail never came out. But that was ok because we over ordered. I didn’t double check to see if we were charged.
Other than those hiccups the service was otherwise good. Ocean Prime in Troy is our go to place for special occasions and we have never had any issues like this at that restaurant over the last 10 years.
The food though...... wow!! Everything that everyone at was just super. We had a large party and this is what we had......
Lamb Lollipops-perfectly made
Ahi Tuna-sushi grade and delicious
Oysters - Bluepoint (the two sauces that came with it were to die for!)
Seared Sirloin Tips - excellent
Scallops - I’m personally not a scallops fan but this was so good!!
Dry aged Prime
Filet Mignon ah Poivre
Mac and Cheese
King Crab Gnocchi
Everything was perfectly cooked. From a foodie perspective the food was top notch. The service for $1000 dinner was not quite what one would have expected.
I would probably return as a couple but I’m not sure that they handle large parties very well from this hopefully isolated experience.
