Wish we lived closer. The Chop House never disappoints!
Food and service was outstanding!
From the time we arrived until the time we left, we were treated like royalty! The meals were awesome as well.
had the pleasure of treating my fiancé to dinner for his birthday, we're from out of town; he said it was the best steak he's ever had. we plan on coming back. beautiful restaurant.
The service was great and the food delicious! We sat at the bar first for happy hour which is a great deal and the bar tender was exceptional. Our waiter was also very good. A very good experience and we will return.
My husband and I went here twice in one weekend to celebrate both of our birthdays. Both times were excellent, but to be honest, the second time was better as I knew how to order my steak the second time around.
Word of advice: The Chop House will tell you if you haven’t been there before that you should order your steak a warmer temperature than you would elsewhere as the undercook their steak. This turned out to be very bad advice as I ordered my 11 oz filet medium on my husband’s birthday and it came out medium rather than medium rare like I had been advised. When I came back two days later and ordered the Porterhouse medium rare, it was cooked medium rare. Lesson learned.
Food recommendations are as follows: Cowboy Steak with Barbecue Sauce, Delmonico (when it’s available), Porterhouse, Caesar salad, Wedge salad and the chocolate dessert.
I do not recommend the filet Oscar style because my steak was over cooked, the sauce was vinegary and the lobster meat did not taste fresh.
Also, when you dine here on your actual birthday as a party of two you will receive 50% off your meal (excluding alcohol) so be sure to tip on the pre-discount total. The value here is unbelievable so why not dine here for a special occasion?!
Excellent food and service, as always. Our waiter Andrew was fabulous! Had a cake specially made at Dolce Vita for a friend's birthday and it was the BEST. CAKE. EVER!
The steaks were cooked perfectly. The sides were generous. The service was very slow. We waited 18 minutes before someone took our order. We also noted on our reservation that it was my son's birthday. They did not provide a free desert, discount or mark Happy Birthday on the desert plate as I saw on other diner's plates. I felt the meal was over-priced.
Last visit my husband got sick from the cowboy steak and left overs the next day and the filet had a coffee taste. The scallops were perfect. This time we had the pork chops and shrimp with too many leeks/vegetables . It was a bit better and no one got sick but not as good as I remembered from previous visits. I would still recommend because of all the great quality food previously.
Really enjoyed the evening with my wife. She had lamb chops and I had the pork chops - both excellent. Started with cheese plate and beef tenderloin appetizer. Added the king crab gnocchi and potatoes to the dinner and finished with dessert/drink. We have plenty of leftovers for dinner the next day.
This was our second visit to The Chop House, and once again it was an outstanding experience. Wonderful ambience, delicious food, and superb service. All of the staff are excellent, and the food presentation is impressive. We requested Andrew J, to be our server again. He is a delightful young man, and brings a special touch to service. Lovely birthday celebration, best Tiramisu ever. Definitely our favorite restaurant.
We took our son who will graduate later this month for dinner. We decided to do something special since it is likely the last time we dine with him in Ann Arbor. The Chop House was the perfect choice. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, the menu diverse, the food spectacular and our waiter, Andrew, was terrific. Truly a great dining experience!
Combination Easter/Birthday celebration - wonderful experience: started with cocktails freshly & expertly mixed at tableside; food was excellent - cheese plate very nice mix of flavors with grapes/almonds, steaks cooked to perfection, scallops & sides delicious, 'chocolate decadence' dessert perfect way to cap it off; our waiter Sheldon was fantastic - completely attentive but unobtrusive & down to earth, added a lot to our enjoyment of the meal. Expensive but well-worth it for a special occasion!
Great food and service!
We had one of the best meals we have experienced at Chop House. Every item we ordered was delicious and superbly presented. Flavors were outstanding. The service was impeccable and our amazing waitress went above and beyond to make our evening special. If you are in Ann Arbor go to Chop House!
The Filet Mignon and Porterhouse steaks were very good. We didn't care for the calamari (too rubbery) and the side dish vegetables, not tender and little bit rough. But the service was pretty good. Overall a good experience! Will go back for the Filet Mignon and try the bread pudding.
Dinner was excellent, as per usual, at The Chop House. We enjoyed some old favorites (the grilled romaine salad is wonderful) and the steak is always truly delicious. The wait staff was excellent as well with suggestions, comments about how the food is prepared, and even drink selections and service. We brought a bottle of wine (corkage fee $25) and the presentation by the waiter was very good. He also was very engaging with respect to our special occasion. The only thing which could have been better was we felt a bit rushed as the entree came out before we were finished with the salad. I have a feeling this was more timing in the kitchen and a desire to not have the steaks sit too long under a heating lamp and possibly overcooking. I think maybe next time we just need to indicate we are going to be a bit more leisurely. As far as the ambiance, the luxurious feel of The Chop House is one of my favorite features of dinner here.
For what the prices are on the menu, one would expected The Chop House to be a very pretentious restaurant.
It is not! Waitstaff kind, understanding and willing to accommodate the patron.
Omg, food is soooo good! It was my birthday dinner and I had the cowboy steak + baked potato + asparagus and 2x whiskey smash. Delicious! And plenty leftover for the next day :)
First night out since baby. Had an exceptional time due to the friendly service by Andrew. He gave us very good recommendations whenever we asked and did everything he could to make sure we had a good experience.
Best romantic, high class dinner ever
Fantastic food, ambience, and service!
An excellent experience. We wanted to do a date night upscale and was not disappointed.
We have been to chop house several times and enjoy our experience overall.
This time was no different except for one thing. Our server was great until the very end of our dinner. We were treating our friends to a celebration dinner so our bill was quite high. We had $200 in gift cards, which did not even put a dent in the bill. Upon giving our server the gift cards and our credit card , she return the service slip to us with the original amount circled on all the copies (as if to signal to us to make sure we tip off the original amount and not the amount less the gift caRds). I thought I was reading into this but my wife thought the same thing. Chop House is not a cheap place to eat and we know that going into our dinner, and to make this type of a gesture, I find it tacky and below the standards this type of restaurant should practice.
We had always planned on tipping a minimum of 20% of the original bill (and still did after this gesture).
We will probably be back to Chop House in the future but this event will surely weigh into our decision when choosing a nice place to eat.
No need to say more than... Absolutely fabulous in every way!
As always, great food, terrific service, and a wonderful evening.
This was our first visit to The Chop House, and we were very impressed. We were warmly greeted when we arrived, and loved the ambience and the decor. The menu was extensive, offering some excellent choices, using the very best ingredients. Our meals were wonderful, and our server, Andrew was outstanding, making this a memorable evening. We consider ourselves to be tough critics, as we enjoy cooking at home, and have dined in restaurants all over the world. This is now in our top choice of restaurants, and we plan to return.
The service was very attentive and the food delectable. It is expensive but very well prepared and many dishes are designed to be shared.
All in all it was great, server was mostly attentive, food good. My main issue is when you're paying $50 for a steak, it should be cooked perfectly. I ordered medium/medium well, it came back closer to medium rare, by the time the server asked how it was, my wife was almost done with her meal and aside from my steak, I was done, no I do not want to send it back to get recooked. For the prices, I believe everything should be perfect from the beginning.
Steaks were outstanding, sides were ok, dessert was spectacular and service was mediocre .
We had a wonderful meal and a special birthday dessert surprise. We enjoyed celebrating at the Chop House.
The Chop House is always a favorite when we’re in Ann Arbor! Great service, great food and fabulous cocktails!
Great Service. Our waitress was very nice and offered great suggestions and very willing to always listen to our questions. Would definitely come back and refer my friends and family
I️ asked for the chef to toast the bread and they said that no because they were too busy but other tables had theirs toasted... I’m not sure what that was about but I️t did not make me feel like they valued my presence by doing that. Mash potatoes came out really cold. The filet and calamari were good. Noise level was good, not too loud or quiet.
Fine dining at its best! A treasured experience. Thank you to the entire staff - and especially to Andrew our head-waiter. The service was spectacular, the food was incredible, the atmosphere was perfect for our special occasion.
Everything was excellent as always except the seating. Seating is to close to the table next to you very cramped and not private at all.
Excellent Steak , good service.
In town to visit son. This is his favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor.
Fine dining in Ann Arbor. The service is exceptional. The steaks were great and prepared exactly as we requested. And the desserts are incredible.
