The Chop House - Ann Arbor
Excellent dinner, the birthday special is a good deal!
Discernible quality of service. Well trained empathetic wait staff. Responsive servers. Timing for delivery of food and execution were top notch. There is a noticeable pride in the work being performed.
Absolute must for any birthday or special occasion. Service is great, food is even better.
Outstanding night as a whole. Server was excellent and they provided a discount for my birthday. Only complaint is my significant other's steak came out overcooked, but the kitchen staff promptly made her a new one.
Slower and less attentive service than we are used to. Similar presentation of food, but not quite up to the same quality and service we have come to expect. Not busy, later evening when we had dinner.
Enjoyed our 35th anniversary with family and friends. Our waiter, Sam, was outstanding and made us feel very comfortable!
Food was good, pricey but to be expected. Not a huge fan of the super dark environment but not a big enough fault to not return.
Ann Arbor Chophouse is way over priced. Especially when there are great restaurant options in Ann Arbor. Shrimp cocktail was average. Steak was okay but $50 for an average cut of filet? We grill better steaks at home. I think what was the most disappointing part was how severely overpriced their wine was. We drink wine often and understand the mark up when you go to a restaurant- especially fine dining. However, their prices were outrageous. $20 for a sub par glass of Cabernet Sauvignon is just too much. The positive part of the experience is the impeccable service. Our server was awesome and so were the rest of the staff.
Absolutely loved this restaurant. I would love to come celebrate every special occasion in this serene environment.
Food was just ok lobster bites deep fried tasted like oil steak not much flavor way over priced.
Absolutely amazing! Best meal I have ever had. The filet was cooked perfect (medium rare) and the chocolate decadence desert was heavenly!!
The beef Wellington was exceptional this time - there was plenty of the foie gras and duxelles, so that we really could savor them. 🙏 hope it’s just as good next time
Second time here and it was every bit as good both times. One of the more upscale restaurants in Ann Arbor and it doesn’t disappoint.
Unfortunately, The Chop House has changed since I used to frequent it in the past for business related dinners. The food was definitely not good. There was a dish named Morrocan Shrimp that should be named Buffalo Shrimp. It tasted like hot sauce was poured over it. The lamb chops were different temperatures than we requested. The Caesar salad was mediocre. The only decent appetizer was the tuna. I will never return here. I'm better off cooking at home. And the server should clean his fingernails. This was a very disappointing experience.
Our favorite place in town! Always an amazing experience.
Amazing dining experience. Our waiter, Trek was an extra perk to our wonderful dinner.
Just trying something new and everything was amazing!
Birthday dinner for my husband. Our server Andrew was simply outstanding. Food fantastic. Only negative and not the fault of restaurant is we were seated next to a very large group so the noise level was high
Great restaurant. We will definitely come back. The food and service were amazing.
Delicious! I don't think I've ever had a steak as tender as my filet mignon at The Chop House. Their garlic smashed potatoes have just the right amount of garlic (a lot :P). Our server was lovely and helpful. We went on my husband's birthday and were table to take advantage of their generous birthday special, 50% off the food on the bill!
We went on my wife’s birthday. There is 50% off of 2 meals, appetizers, etc. on the day of your birthday. So we had a phenomenal meal with great service for half price. This was a great value and was a wonderful way to celebrate a birthday.
As alwaqys the Chop House does not disappoint. The setting sets the mood and the service and food are commensurate with the atmosphere. It was our anniversary and the chef sent us a little surprise with our dessert which we loved!
We go every year for our anniversary! Great place, and we will continue to go for many years to come.
Delicious food, impeccable service - exactly what I had expected. The choreographed placement of plates by multiple servers is outstanding! Well done!
Sheldon is the absolute best waiter. He goes out of his way to make dining a memorable experience. Thank you Sheldon!
Went for our 6yr Anniversary and couldn’t have picked a better place to celebrate. Remarkable food, and remarkable service. Our Server: Brian Thanks Brian for making our day even more special!
The Food was Amazing !!! Went there for our 5 yr anniversary and the place is top notch !!
Probably the swankiest places in A2 but the food is amazing!!
We have already recommended this fine dining experience to friends and family. Stellar experience from the moment we walked in, seated right away. Wait Staff were wonderful and the food scrumptious. We question all the time that rarely do we find a cheese plate as an appetizer and yet at the Chop House, there it was. The entrees of steak and salmon were also delicious.
We plan to bring our family back in July and will definitely ask for Lisa, our gracious server.
It was ok. Waitress was great, but think it’s a bit pricey for what you get. Food not very flavorful.
Our experience at the Chop House was world-class. The service was prompt and impeccable. The food was delightful and savory. And the atmosphere was warm - not too loud to enjoy the company you’re with. It was an absolutely perfect experience!
Went for restaurant week in June. I was disappointed in the steak. We had gone during winter restaurant week and it seemed like it was so much better. Meat was a bit tough and chewy. I think for a high-end place, I really expect it to be outstanding. Maybe I was expecting too much. I always seem to be satisfied when I go to Knights or Metzgers for their meat.
Dinner with my son who lives out of state.
With Knights, Ruth Chris', etc., competition is stiff for a great steakhouse in Ann Arbor. But the Chop House delivers. Love their steaks, but the Dover Sole is the best around. One lesson from Ruth Chris's is they need to store their vodka and gin in a freezer for martinis. Too diluted.
Or server, Andrew, was superb!!
Overall the dinning experience was good and everyone enjoyed their food. However, there are a couple things that would make it better: 1. Separate the tables more. The tables are very close together. In fact, the waitress almost tipped over my water every time she was serving the table next to us. 2. Slow down. We were at dinner with friends that we haven't seen in awhile and the waitress kept rushing us to order.
As usual the service was outstanding. the beef wellington also done perfectly.. another ordered the scallop appetizer x2 as an entree also very good ( maybe a touch salty for my taste ) still 5 stars for the food
Outstanding lobster tails, wine and Trek was perfect. Matt Johns made sure we had everything we desired. A perfect evening. Thank you! :)
The steak was not what I expected but still good. As always the ambience cannot be beaten. No other place like it in Ann Arbor.
