The Chop House - Ann Arbor
Always love it here!
The service was amazing. My steak was perfectly cooked and my sides were delicious. I loved the lighting in the building. I appreciated the patience of our waitstaff.
It was nice.
Assigned table for six requested move and got better table but next to service area.
Outstanding Birthday Celebration! My daughter selected the Chop House to commemorate her 21st milestone birthday. We were not disappointed. From the moment we sat down Sindy took great care of us and made excellent suggestions (the espresso-rubbed filet is a must!). From beginning to end we enjoyed ourselves. No need to wait for a special occasion, the Chop House would be an excellent choice whenever you'd like a delicious, memorable meal.
At least we laughed. They tried to seat us (3) at a huge table in the basement. Strange. Then they tried to rush us out by announcing “good news” here is your bill and ignoring our dessert order. Refused to bring extra spoons upon request until about 10 mins later.
We celebrate our birthday's at The Chop House every year. The food is to perfection, the staff treats you like royalty, and we love the ambiance. We highly recommended The Chop House to all our friends. Dining there is a really special experience all the way around.
Food good, service just ok.
Nice time , great server for a pre-Valentine's date night.
I have been to this place several times. The place has great food and excellent service. It is a place to enjoy a great meal, have nice conversations, and relax.
This was my birthday dinner. A fantastic 50% discount on dinner for 2 is given on the day of your birthday on all food except for dessert. This was a great deal for an excellent meal.
Our server was very exceptional - attentive, knowledgeable, and appropriately interactive - one of the very best servers I have ever had.
Food was excellent overall - steaks were perfectly prepared, house salad and lobster bisque were really good. The “bread” was a mini cheesy popover and was fantastic. Overall a great birthday experience.
We had a fantastic evening which started by being seated by the window where we were treated by a surreal winters Ann Arbor scene. Our appetizers of French onion soup and Kale salad were spectacular. Our beef Wellington literally melted in the mouth. All in all it was a perfect birthday adventure. We are already looking forward to our next visit
Good food and service. We ended up at a table near the kitchen which is never preferred, but overall we thought The Chop House was very good.
Service was very slow.
Don't really understand the "exclusivity" of this restaurant? It seems that you can never get a reservation because it is always booked solid. I finally had the opportunity to eat there after making my reservation almost 2 months in advance.
Service and atmosphere are great, food is mediocre, at best. The filet that I had was cooked properly, but lacked any type of flavor. We were a party of 4, and all of us felt the same about the steaks; cooked properly but absolutely no flavor. No big deal, but don't know what all the hype is about for this restaurant, when there are definitely much better steakhouses in Ann Arbor.
Great food as usual but it might be nice to change up the menu now and then. I realize it’s a steakhouse but not everyone that comes there is a red meat fan...maybe add a few more fish/chicken dlshes and veggies for more options? Still all in all a fantastic place to eat with a charming atmosphere. BTW, never let Sheldon leave...he’s awesome!
Over the years we have ate at the Chop House in Ann Arbor and in the last year they have switched their pre-dinner rolls which taste like they have pudding in them. Our hostess said it was Brazilian style bread.
They use to serve great bread and crackers before dinner. I believe the bread was from Zingerman's which is an Ann Arbor institution. No doubt is was a cost savings for the Chop House stop serving Zingerman's bread. Bring back Zingerman's bread.
Thank you Walter for ensuring another birthday celebration was all it could be! As always, a great evening!!!!
Food and service were excellent, we will be back!!!
Unfortunately I have to report a semi negative review I never thought I would make for my favorite restaurant. I have frequented the Chop House Ann Arbor for years and almost 100% of the time get the Kobe and for years this has been the best steak I have ever had. The last few visits it has been not great at all I may not try it next time I am in. The service as always was awesome Sindy and Walter and everyone else took great care of our party of 8. I do hope they fix the issues with the Kobe a restaurant of this caliber should always have the best not just mediocre. The Cherry Krisp was awesome great job.
Birthday experience was excellent
Wasn’t all that impressed. For a supposedly top tier steakhouse the food and experience were just ok.
Amazing. Always a great meal! Great food, great service!!
We had an absolutely wonderful experience! The food was delicious and we loved the cigar bar.
The food was good the service was good the atmosphere was good but nothing special or remarkable for the money spent
It was my husbands and my 34th anniversary. We had an amazing waitress, Annise. She was professional, energetic, funny, attentive. All around a great person to be on their staff. The food was amazing as always. Thank you so much for the truffles! Perfect with a glass of Cabernet.
We come here for my husbands birthday, and The Chop House never disappoints!
Annise was our server Friday night. She was perfectly attentive and extremely thorough with her description of the dishes on the menu. Her service made our experience both enjoyable and comfortable.
The food was perfection. As always! Both traditional and new items met the Chop House standard. It was a memorable experience. From Appetizers to dessert!
Great service, excellent cuisine. I ordered the Roasted Venison and the server made an excellent suggestion on the temperature it should be cooked at. Would recommend to family and friends.
We took our son to dinner for his 35th birthday and had a wonderful time. The food was excellent as well as the service. We will definitely come back.
Friendly service and great food and presentation. A little pricey for a college town.
Excellent steak, oysters and seared tuna, as always. Attentive waitstaff. Pricey, but well worth it.
The Chop House has a special for birthdays (a bit complicated to explain, but for two people, it's half off the food bill if you go on the day itself). My daughter loves steak and they have some of the best around. She likes her steak on the well done side, and The Chop House knows how to cook a filet mignon for her that is well done yet still tender and juicy. (Other places have simply served it less well cooked to keep it tender--which works for me, but it isn't what she likes.) I take her every year, and she enjoys it every year. This year was no different!
I have never had a bad experiance here. The service is always fantastic and the food is always spot on. The only criticism I have is the calamari could have used less sauce and the brussel sprouts left something to be desired. We are used to charred and crispy Brussels (personal preference). We come to the Chop House because we are going to get a good meal. If you are looking for something more innovative and new world then this isn't the place. If you want a fantastic steak and great service this is your spot. Thanks for a great night!
Coming into Ann Arbor from out of town. It’s always a pleasure to have a meal at this special restaurant. Love every minute of it .
We had a good dinner, however, when asked is we were there for a specific occasion, we let them know it was our anniversary and never received an anniversary dessert. We ended up getting a dessert we paid for and it was not as exciting. A little upset about that. Over all, food was amazing and out waiter was excellent.
Birthday dinner. Great recommendations and food.
Date night with my fiance. Had great evening, great service, great food, great drinks, and fun people watching. Our waitress (Annise?) was fantastic, with excellent recommendations, prompt service, lessons on beef cattle massage techniques for the best tasting steaks, confirmed by additional staff with more massage details. (who knew???) Evening ended with a kitchen walk-through and laughs all around. Good times!! Jim & Kelly had fun!
I have already recommended this restaurant to friends as well as told them to request Brian. He was awesome. It is true, first impressions are lasting.
The service was wonderful, waiter was very attentive and explained the menu thoroughly. Atmosphere is quite upscale, this is a good spot for special occasions and they offer a nice discount if you are dining on your birthday. The lobster bisque with the sherry float is decadent and all of the steaks are prime cuts of meat. Hands down one of my favorite places to dine in Ann Arbor.
