The Chocolate Bar Ratings and Reviews
We came before a concert to have a light affordable meal. We both had steak, mine was the 6 oz filet. I never saw such a thin filet before, but it was only $17. It hit the spot and the meal did not leave me feeling stuffed nor was anything greasy. Perfect for going to a concert. Always love the chocolate martinis. Was not impressed by the belgum chocolate pyramid (mousse dessert though). Stick to a martini only for dessert.
Worst experience ever! 3rd time here was definitely not a charm. The martini rim looked like it was dipped in water, instead of chocolate. The food was mediocre at best. The music was so loud you couldn't hear the person right next to you. The service was fair, at best. Very highly disappointed on the decreased quality of not just one thing, but every single thing. We do not care to return at all after this experience.
im a big fan of their martinis so my husband and i go often on the weekends after our movie dates , every time that we go around midnight it is a hassle to have them give us the chance to have a drink they close at 2:00 but they don't want to seat anybody after 12:00 or at least that what it seems, last time which it was 2 weeks ago there was a concert in cleveland we got there around 11:30 it was busy i had no reservations so i just wanted to get on the waiting list , the manager basically tried to have is go somewhere else, he noticed i got upset and insisted to get on the list and "magically "a table opened up as quickly as the nlink of an eye ...when we sat there were at least three open tables??
i don't know as a customer experience is awful the way this place is manage, today we decided to give it a try in the morning to see if it was just the way it's handled at night , we went for brunch, it was not busy at all... let's start with our server nice girl but her clothes were filthy , that to me is a big turn off , i didnt walk away because i was hungry, ordered an espresso coffee and it was dead cold , food was average but my biggest concern is when i looked around not only the server was filthy but the restaurant as well , if you care to look at the ceiling is completely covered with dust, horrible!!!
Chocolate bar management if you care for your customers and you take our health seriously you should make sure your staff look appropriate and you should keep your restaurant up to meet your health codes so not only your food taste good but also looks good. Hope you can fix thay because we really like your martinis but i dont feel safe there anymore.
Phenomenal managers, amazing food and drinks, and a birthday to remember
This is the place to go for the best food, drinks, and friendliest service in Cleveland. This is hands down my favorite place to go. I have been there several times, and love the chocolate martinis, and the triple mousse. Of course, there are plenty of "non-chocolate" items too. Saturday, my cousin was in town from Connecticut for her birthday. We made reservations through "Open Table." The manager called me ahead of time to try to accommodate my special requests. My cousin couldn't drink alcohol, so the server took time to help her find a "no-tini" that fit her tastes, and they gave her a chocolate shooter desert for her birthday. We had drinks, dinners, and deserts. We thanked both managers for making her birthday one to remember, and they invited us back after the concert. When we got there, they were packed, but found a perfect tiny little table for two for us on the patio. We enjoyed drinks and appetizers (we already had our deserts!), but she got the cold hot- chocolate shake, or something like that, and we shared it. Both managers came to check in on us, and we thanked them again for making the night so special.
This was always my favorite Cleveland place, but now it also has my loyalty.
We came here to celebrate our anniversary and we are so glad we did! Our hostess was very sweet and accommodating . Our server Maria knew the menu inside and out and gave us recommendations ... Get the prime
Rib! Martinis and desserts are like no other in Cleveland! located across east 4th street pretty view and a great place to people watch!
It was mine and my friends' first time attending The Chocolate Bar. Our waitress, Maria, was outstanding in explaining the menu and some of her personal favorites. We all had the chocolate bar pasta dish which was so unique! We all loved it. We also loved the chocolate martinis and of course- the dessert! It was wonderful!
It was frustrating to walk into a pretty much empty restaurant, early for our reservation and then be told that there were only three tables available, two of which were right next to the door. My husband asked for a different table and he was denied. Then to sit there and see party after party seated in the area that we requested, we did not feeler very valued as customers. Our server on the other hand, she was wonderful. She followed up with my questions regarding my food allergies. She was attentive. She was personable. The food was okay. The prime rib did not appear to be freshly cut and was big medium rare as requested. We did have a nice birthday dinner for our daughter though. I wouldn't return for dinner but drinks and appetizers would probably be fine.
The food was horrible and not properly seasoned. My boyfriend got a steak that was chewy. I ordered pasta with chicken and the chicken was not on the plate. By the time our waitress came out to check on us my meal was finished and it wasn't busy. The desserts and martinis look great so go for those! Not worth spending $50 for something I can make better at home.
Despite making a reservation a week ahead of time, we were left for half an hour until our server served us. My wife ordered a martini which they made wrong and were reluctant to take off our bill when we point it out. The chocolate baguette is just a baguette with chocolate syrup on it and a cup of vegetable oil poured on chocolate dipping sauce - don't get it. They did not have 3/4's of the food on the menu, so ordering options were limited. The crepe I ordered was stale. I noted it was my wife's birthday on our reservation, and no acknowledgment was made of that by the staff. It was a disappointing experience.
This was a "bucket list" place for my mother in law and daughter. The name implies chocolate, we never were told about any chocolate item and were never offered dessert ( not sure they even had it because we never saw a menu ) the place was slow and waiter was clueless. Brought out orders 10 minutes apart. Dropped off check and never saw him again. Terrible experience. NEVER AGAIN.
I'm never disappointed by the atmosphere at the chocolate bar. Food is good, too. Unfortunately, this time, I brought guests from out of town and it was so cold in the restaurant we could hardly enjoy it. When asked to turn the air down we were told it was not possible. I don't know if someone else complained, but eventually they told us they could raise the temperature a couple degrees. I prefer cooler than warmer, but this was extreme. Also, we all laughed the first time the blender went off because it sounded like we were in a dentist office. By the fourth time it was very annoying. These are all things that can be fixed and do not change the quality of the chocolate bar. Longevity is all in the details, though.
We were there on a Friday night to see Adam Lambert & Queen. So we stopped for dinner before going to the concert. So it took a while to get drinks, but I am sure it was because it was pretty busy. The waiter was very nice and polite. The food was good and it was a nice atmosphere. The person at the front desk, that also bartended was nice and so was a lady who came around and asked how everything was. We would make reservations again when in town! The Caprese Insalata was done well! The bests I have had so far. The mozzarella was excellent! The tomatoes were good and loved the whole leaf basil and enough balsamic dressing for the appetizer! Very well done. The steaks were cooked perfect! The drinks were good too. We had fun and there was enough room in between tables to not feel like you were on top of people and was easy to move around when leaving and sitting down.
first time experience was very good. because of the big crowd, the check-in area was hard to access. the area is very small. had a reservation and stood behind many who didnt. once we got seated, our waitress arrived quickly. she was friendly, helpful and had a great personality. she served our appetizer, drinks and food in a timely manner - didnt rush us while we had an after dinner drink - she was outstanding. sweet potato fries and flatbreads tasted great - there were lots of menu items to choose from. my only problem (cant even call it a complaint) was the entrance area and having to wait behind those without reservations.
An aweful experience, we had reservations for 5:15. We ordered drinks right away it took 45 and me talking to the manger before we got them, dinner did come out at a reasonable time... we ordered another round of drink as soon as we got the first one, we waiting 25 min and then paid for our meal and just left. Yes , it was busy because billy Joel was in town that night. But they should have had the restaurant staffed better.. not only will I never be back I will tell all my friends never to go there. When I told the manager we have been waiting 45 minutes for our drinks her response was "we are busy". Not a sorry or anything like that... that is not how a manager deals with customers
