Fantastic food from developing chefs at an affordable price. At first we worried that the small serving sizes would leave us hungry, but we left fully sated. I would recommend skipping the wine list and instead going for the excellent cocktails. In particular, the Mexican Mule was a gem. For mains, I had the Cornish hen, while my husband had beef. Both dishes were rich and tender without a hint of dryness. We split a delicious chocolate walnut tart for dessert. We look forward to coming here again.
The lunch meal was delicious. My friends and I ordered the trout entree which was perfectly cooked and tasty. The service was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant layout provides for a cheerful atmosphere as the kitchen team can be seen preparing our meals. Enjoyed the whole experience!
We really enjoy the Chef’s Kitchen for special occasions - we’ve been there a few times. On our latest trip, I ordered the vegetarian risotto since it was offered in entree size and as it was the only veggie main. While the risotto would have been fine as a side, it was too cheesy and too rich to be a main and what’s worse, there was no attempt to offer a healthy vegetarian protein. It’s not enough for restaurants to offer a veg option these days, restaurants must ask the question, does the vegetarian option offer protein? Vegetarian proteins include beans, lentils, quinoa, hummus, nuts, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, soy beans/edamame, eggs, greek yoghurt, peas, peanut butter, tempeh, tofu, and many more. If you are not offering at least some of these protein rich and healthy foods in your vegetarian option, you are letting us down.
Great experience, most dishes were very well presented and tasty. Service was slow and some staff were new- assumed they are students learning. Would come back
Food was definitely a 4.5. But with a Wonderful experience for a Valentine's day and at a price that's comparable to a 5 star winterlicious menu. Place was not too packed. There were plenty of servers, though some seemed a little shy (not an issue). The food was exceptional. Even the bread was pretty good. The appetizers were great. The portion sizes were good. The black pepper sardines were great - I don't ever cook it and usually they have a fishy smell, but not here. It was done right and not over cooked. The Italian trio sampler (Anthony Ho's menu - I don't know the guy if your wondering.. his name was on the menu) was amazing. 3 different fish, 3 different textures and tastes. Worth getting the 4 course meal. Would never make the effort of cooking something like that.
For the mains... The souvide beef cheeks were tender and flavorful without being too salty or over empowering. The Cornish hen was crispy and the parings were well textured and original.
The dessert was good... But less impressive as the appetizers and the mains... 4/5 for the desserts.. the walnut chocolate tart was good.. no complaints there... But the tirimisu was ok. Couldn't taste the mascopone cheese (maybe the coffee was too empowering? Or not enough cheese?) And it was garnished with a crisp bread(?) Or sugar piece... Which should probably have been a bit thinner... Biteing into it was a little hard..
Overall: 4.5 but the service was good... So here it's a 5...
Price point... Just right for the restaurant. Good value. Certainly comparable to a 5 star restaurant.
Food was delicious and healthy, well presented, and the best !
Service staff was very attentive and courteous.
Thank you, George Brown College, for a great dining experience.
It's an inspiring place
Great experience. Fabulous Food and the staff couldn't do enough to make our experience great!
We had a great time and the atmosphere did not seem like it was associated to the school it felt like a stand alone restaurant on King street not a school at all. Very knowledgeable staff as well. I would definitely go back in a heartbeat. Try the beef cheek on the menu it’s to die for it’s so good.
outstanding fish and scottish eggs dishes, the cabbage was soso and desert could be improved
Food was excellent, but due to some issues in the kitchen, the service was slow.
We had a Friday dinner early in January to celebrate our anniversary.
The staff was very polite and helpful explaining the dishes and the vine cart.
The food was great, served in a timely manner and we enjoyed it very much.
Excellent value for your money.
The only thing that we didn't enjoy (it wasn't bad, but I can't say it was good) is the fact that the ambiance was a bit loud, as we expected more of a quiet atmosphere.
The presentation, food and service were excellent. The pierogi appetizer were amazing, just like my grandmother used to make. Three of us ordered the salmon entree and it was cooked to perfection. My husband loved his Reuben sandwich. The portion sizes of the appetizer, entree and dessert were not overly large but they were satisfying and reasonably priced. We would definitely recommend the Chefs’ House at George Brown College.
Firstly, the service was impeccable. Very impressed. The ambiance of the place is cozy and not too loud. Tastefully decorated and stylish dinnerware. Clearly the staff have received excellent training. The food was delicious, myself and my two colleagues had the 3 course lunch and each dish was a delight. Highly recommend it to others, in fact I have been already.
The food was creative and flavorful. One of the best meals we've had in the city this past year. Our server Wei was attentive and answered all our questions. We went for a birthday celebration, and the quality of service and food surpassed our expectations.
The chef's house was a great time and we hope to go back in the new year.
Amazing food but small portions. Wonderful service and a menu that changes three times a year.
Food was amazing as was the service. Very good value!
Food was all very good, and service was very attentive and not intrusive.
Was as good as any highly rated restaurant, I have been to many and to michelin star restaurants around the world and this was remarkable.
When we were leaving one of the staff preparing the salads was mixing the brussel sprout salad with his hands. We were absolutely horrified. I had the brussel sprout salad and felt sick. Please review the tape for Monday Dec. 11, 2017 @ 2PM. You will see the shock on our faces.
