The Chefs' House - George Brown College
Wonderful girl's night out. Food was really good and presentation lovely. I had visited one other time many years ago and was very happy to return. Only criticism was having to ask for bread for table. Apart from that, a super experience.
A set menu offering a variety of choices for each course. Food and presentation excellent. Only hitch was the billing. We had specified separate cheques since some didn't have any drinks while others had òne or two. The bill came with everything on it. When we asked to have it split the allocation on all the bills was incorrect. We ended up just paying what was on the individual bills rather than straightening them out. Other than that we all enjoyed the food and had a wonderful linch.
An absolute treat. Everything was fabulous! Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch
Very busy, noise level too high. Great salad and service
We booked lunch for birthday celebration. Very happy with our decision! The food was amazing, service excellent, the restaurant is very modern and vibrant. The value incredible and we will for sure be back. Many thanks to all the talented students for lunch!
The food was lovely, and well-presented. We have been here before, and will definitely come back. Just wish you had an accessible washroom.
The menu was incredible, service was top notch
Culinary school students creating first class menus with equally good wine selections. Only lacking a better variety of tea. Best value in the city for your money.
Amazing food for a great price! An awesome place to take a date you want to impress but don’t want to break the bank. You can taste the effort of the students’ work in every dish. Will definitely be back!
Friday was our 1st time at The Chefs Table, and we will be back, from the wonderful waiter Gabriel, to the welcome mat we got on a rainy day when we arrived early to escape the weather. Our meal was fabulous, very well prepared, and presented, and what's not to love about freshly baked bread, and gorgeous spreads to accompany the bread? It was so lovely to see the young chefs working well together preparing all the food, a great experience and not a stuffy restaurant at all , very enjoyable.
Overall good food, reasonable price and spacious restaurant. I like the fact that the tables have some distance between them and people at the next table will not hear what you have to say. However, our waitress is not familiar with the wine list (what's dry, not so dry or very dry) and not able to recommend what to drink with the meal. I got the impression that she was in such a rush when serving our dishes. As soon as we finished with one dish, she would bring the next dish not giving us some breathing space. We were also not asked if we wanted coffee with our desserts and had to ask if we could have coffee. When she poured the coffee, she only filled it to less than half of the cup (Did she misunderstand and thought we ordered an espresso?!).
Critical foodies ,( a professional chef among us) that we are, our lunch didn’t disappoint. Food was well prepared ,service excellent. The dessert unfortunately didn’t make the grade. Mousse was more like a
custard. Noise level need to be turned down. Will return.
A group of 6 of us from work went for lunch. Service was great. They gave us some delicious berry drinks to sample and the complimentary bread was fresh, warm and delicious. The students at George Brown make a fantastic meal. There was a choice of either a 2-course (app & main) for $20 or 3-course (plus dessert). I started with the creamy mushrooms soup, which was a daily special. The broth was scrumptious. Then I had the chestnut ravioli, which were delicious. I could have used just one more ravioli (we were served 4 large each). I passed on dessert, although the options sounded fantastic. Highly recommended. I was there for Summerlicous earlier this year and it was excellent too.
Service quite slow. We were there for lunch & it lasted from noon til 2:00. If this was a business lunch (which ours was not), would have been very bad.
Main entrees quite bland.
We waited about 30 minutes for our dessert course to arrive!
The food was not to my liking it was a pork dish and the spices were not to my liking .. Lunch partner loved it. So to each his own!
Great food, attentive staff. Wholly enjoyed 2 birthday celebrations!
First dish 4.9
It was great! Delicious food and a great atmosphere. I love the open kitchen!
As always we had a delightful experience at The Chef's House. I have been many times and never hesitate to bring "newbies". This time there were three and all of them absolutely loved everything about the meal. It was a surprise birthday gift for one of my friends and your staff went out of their way to make it a special and memorable evening for her. My sincere thanks again! You are truly a gem in this city of ours!
we came for the first time , last Friday, the service and the food, were very good, the lamb was our fave. Drinks were a good price, The martini was very good.our server was helpful and knowledgable. we will be back, with friends.
Both my guest and I found our meals too salty (cassoulet and mushroom pasta). I originally ordered miso glazed cod and the taste was so offensive I was unable to eat it. My friend enjoyed her soup, but I would not re-order the sun choke appetizer. The desserts were good (vegan chocolate cake and hazelnut cake). Service was not very attentive. Our water glasses were re-filled only once. I had such high hopes for this dining experience and was very disappointed. I will not return.
The maincourse took too long to be served. The ravioli was over cooked. The led was too much pasta in the shape they chose to use. The filling was good. The appetizers were good as were the desserts.
I found the food excellent! Highly recommend eating here. The service was a little slow but I was in no hurry!
Definitely one to try, good food at a great price due to the fact it’s cooked by the students. Really enjoyed our meal and we will definitely be back. You do need to reserve a table in advance though!
Loved the house smoked pickerel with fingerling potatoes, aioli, grilled leaks and pickled carrots. They set up the tastebuds for the umami of the slow roasted lamb, braised white beans, grilled eggplant and Moroccan sauce. The orange-sugar rolled castagnole, cherry mascarpone and citrus curd dessert had just the right balance of sweet and sour.
It was a very good experience. Food was wonderful. The only glitch was the waiter got my order wrong and came back to argue with me. I even checked with my companion and she stated that I had ordered what I david I did. Besides that it was fabulous
The food was not good, from the appetizer to the desert we did not enjoy or finish the food. Perhaps it was a bad night or the students were not experienced enough but I would never go back here or recommend it.
Excellent food and service. I personally find the musical background excessive, disturbing and unnecessary
Fantastic! Can’t wait to go back. Value is great and portions very generous.
Food was very good 4.7
Excellent ambiance so was the service
Will be back
Loved it, but a little hard to hear my friends because of the general noise level. Could never bring my husband as his hearing would not be able to handle it. But, wow, the food was fantastic and the services was top-notch.
Run by George Brown College culinary department and students, it is a gem. Our group of 8 were treated to a first class, 3-course meal from a varied menu and wait staff were attentive and knowledgeable. We will definitely return.
This was my first time and The Chefs Table exceeded all expectations. I loved it. My only recommendation would be to better indicate door entrance from King Street.
Fantastic. We enjoyed absolutely everything. Can't wait to go back.
Good food, excellent presentation, good vaule and service too. We enjoyed the short ribs and the khimchi rice was tasty despite being a tad too spicy for me. Overall a very pleasant experience. We will be back.
A really enjoyable meal. Our server was very new, inexperienced and lacked expertise/confidence in her communication (spilled water etc, couldn't discuss the wine etc) but other that it was fine. The room was noisy so not ideal for those with hearing issues and slightly cold so maybe bring a sweater!
Excellent food and service, good staff, good food, good atmosphere and a good price, definitely come back again and again, support the student
Another great dinner at the Chef’s House.
The menu was nice and the food was delicious.
Service is as good as can be for students who have just started their school year and I’m sure it only gets better as the year goes.
I love the concept and will keep going back. Great value for money!
Not my first visit and not my last! Fine dining in an enjoyable atmosphere.
Birthday. Food was excellent. I'd definitely go back and will recommend it.
