Superbe dinner with delicious oysters, cava and wine! A go-to for seafood in the city! Fourth times and counting!
From the second we walked in, we were impressed with The Chase. The ambiance is fantastic, exuding a sophisticated, modern elegance. We enjoyed delicious and inventive cocktails before dinner, and a fantastic wine selection with our meal. The food is something special. We were impressed not only with the taste of the food, but also how well it was cooked and the beautiful presentation. We split the burrata, the venison, and the cauliflower & truffle. We then had that the Lime for dessert. Everything was amazing. The burrata was creamy, light, and delicious. The venison was cooked perfectly, with excellent accompaniments, and the kitchen split it into two plates for us to enjoy. The Lime dessert was a wonderfully light end to an amazing meal. The lime was tart, the meringue was fluffy and not too sweet, and the toasted coconut was very subtle. I would honestly say this was one of the best meals I've ever had.
Awesome food and drinks. Greatvwine kist. And superb service. A must.
Amazing food and service
Great space for a business meeting.
Food and service was very good.
The Chase is always reliably lovely. Prices are steep, but quality is excellent. If you are sitting in the walkway between the bar and the dining room it can be a little loud, but the atmosphere is generally luxe.
Table wasn’t as expected- we were seated across from the kitchen. The food took forever to come. The seafood pan roast was minimally warm- the first bite, the oyster was actually cold. Waiter wasn’t knowledgeable and made us feel rushed. Taking the plate as soon as we finished the last bite, and asking my fiancé if she wanted the bill when I left for the washroom for a single minute, and saying he wasn’t sure if the restaurant accepts Amex. Personally feel there are better restaurants at the same price that one can enjoy for a sophisticated night out.
Amazing service , amazing food!
By far one of the best meals we've had in the city. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Service was great drinks were great and the food was a whole different experience!
Waited for 40 min though we made a reservation. Other than that, food was great and waiters were very nice.
The food did not taste good，and did not match up to its price.
Beautiful spot for business meetings and drinks. Food was very tasty and presentable!
Excellent service and the food was excellent. The wine prices are ridiculous. That is why we do not go more often.
Really food ambience. Really good food. But man they really gotta work out their service issues
Wonderful experience, thank you!
It’s was amazing!!!
It was my birthday and our server went above and beyond any expectation that I had. I believe his name was branden? He was exceptional. Honestly the word exceptional doesn’t do him justice. Thank you to him and The Chase for making my birthday so special. Also!! Thanks for the card.
Far too expensive for the dinning experience and expected to be on first floor, which has a different menu.
Everything was great. The only thing upsetting was when the wine we ordered was out of stock. The wine list wasn’t marked as such and an attempt was made at selling us a higher priced wine on the list, making it look like a bait and switch. When I made it clear that this approach wasn’t acceptable, the wine was offered at the same price as what was ordered which is what should have been done in the first place.
Great ambiance and decor. Service was average. Starters were tasty but mains (venison, scallops, cod) were mediocre at best. Dessert (chocolate) was fantastic.
The Chase has the worst sommelier I have ever come across.
I was downtown for a conference and thought we’d try out this restaurant . We ordered the small seafood platter which cost $75. It came in a small platter with only 4 oysters, 2 crab claws, 2 shrimps, 2 Ahi tuna and 2 snapper slices. We have been to many of the top restaurants in TO and this platter is way overpriced compared to one we had at Buca Yorkville.
The beef tartare was average. We ordered another shrimp cocktail which was also average; $28 for 4 medium shrimps. My wife had the Arctic Char which was nicely done. I had the Pan Roast which is just half a lobster with mussels and tiny little shrimps and some pieces of fish.
This was bland if not for the soupy sauce that they put in after. We had a bottle of Ramsay 2016 Cab which cost $105. I later did a search on Wine Search and it cost $18.
The markup is ridiculously high. Most high end restaurants
Have a markup of 3 to 4 times. This is almost 6 times.
The best part of the evening is the service. I think this restaurant is too much hype and no substance. The price is excessive compared to most fine dining restaurants.
I think Blu, Buca and Cafe Boulud are better in terms of food and value. We will not go back.
Our starter and mains arrived cold - while our sides were hot. The server was overwhelmed with more tables than it seemed she could handle, so was always rushing off. Several times we had to call after her to add items to our order or ask her for something. The wine selection was excellent - it would be nice to see an optional Vegan/Vegetarian menu - such as many downtown restaurants now offer. The food was beautifully plated, but the lackluster service was disappointing as compared to other high end restaurants in the downtown core - would like to see the service standard raised to the same level as Kasa Moto or Planta.
Food was good! Service was terrible
Outstanding service and ambience, food was too salty especially all the main dishes - cod, pan roast and lobster
The food is amazing! I went here for a birthday and they wrote a private birthday card for me. Made everything very special.
The food was INCREDIBLE! Also our server, Chelsea was outstanding. Everyone was nice and friendly.
The food was simply amazing and the service was spectacular. 5 star food no doubt about it.
New Year’s Eve
Lots of fun.
Great food and good staff
Absolutely awful, food was cold the service was slow and confused they took forever to come out with it, it was New Year’s Eve I get that but awful set menu with too many mixes of foods that was almost poison, usually love the restaurants in this city but for the first time me and my girlfriend got to admit that this was by far the worst restaurant we’ve been too. Do not recommend. The chase being a high rated restaurant you’d expect more out of it like a better pre fixed menu, and service. We asked for oysters and we didn’t get them while the people next to us did, lol makes no sense but that’s just the way it goes on down at the chase!
Unfortunately, the Chase called to confirm reservation did not mention no regular dining menu. A bit disappointed the night to my family.
Some aspects well-delivered (e.g. staff responsive and informed, service well-executed) and stumbles in other areas (e.g. had to reserve online but restaurant entirely empty, entree wildly over-seasoned...edible, if not enjoyable); overall a fair to middling experience.
Have loved this restaurant in the past ...but the Christmas rush overwhelmed them . An unmitigated disaster
VERY noisy place last night. Not clear why but extremely hard to have a conversation. The food and service were excellent but not much fun to eat it without much conversation.
I took some clients there for dinner and was thoroughly impressed. It was a little louder than I expected, but we adjusted out own volume to ensure we could hear one another.
We started with the Avocado and Mushroom Flatbread as appetizers. Both were very good. Fresh ingredients made all the difference in taste.
Everyone ordered something different, and no one was disappointed. I ordered the Cavatelli, which was a pasta dish that included lobster from Nova Scotia. It was delicious! It had plenty of lobster meat to accompany the pasta...and the sauce...yum!
In closing, I failed to mention the cocktail menu. It was very diverse and fantastic! I would recommend this place to those looking for a great place downtown that has great views. I will definitely be back!
