The Chase Fish & Oyster Ratings and Reviews
Unexpected find turned out to be a great spot. Fresh oysters and clams were really good and priced right. A little on the high side but to be expected for this kind of restaurant. Fresh steamed lobster however was way overpriced - north of $100. Make sure you check their market price before ordering. Overall good atmosphere high-quality food. You won’t be disappointed.
great food, great staff, and the live music is perfect....but the acoustics of the restaurant make having a conversation rather difficult with people at your own table. We were always competing with the background noises from the restaurant. next time i go will be for a lunch. Great place.
We ordered appetizers to share. The oysters came quickly enough and were good. Then we waited and waited for the rest of the appetizers. Received no attention from anyone until over a wait over 60 minutes and then were told it would be 5 more minutes because the kitchen was tied up with a large party. If a restaurant has the impact everyone else meals for one party, then they need to get better organized. It would have helped also if they paid some attention to you instead of leaving you alone. The appetizers finally came and the shrimp bisque was lukewarm. You’ve got to be kidding! The waiter basically said sorry and offered to bring another one. We didn’t want to wait any more. I thought they would at least not make us pay for it. Wrong!
Overall, a bad experience. Waiter was terrible, and even if the food was good, he ruined the evening.
Other parties should not have a negative impact on someone’s dinner. And especially should not be an excuse.
Upon arriving at Chase Fish & Oyster, they could NOT FIND my reservation. Luckily, they were able to accomodate us on the spot, though we were "upgraded" to The Chase ... which is considerably more expensive. While the food and service at The Chase (upstairs) was stellar, our bill was nearly $350 for two people. This was probably about $150 more than we wanted to spend.
I felt that we were hustled into spending more money than intended, by them "losing" our reservation ... BEWARE.
NOTE: Both the upstairs and downstairs had open tables on a Friday night.
Overrated and Disappointed. Nowhere close to the best seafood restaurant the online reviews led me to believe it was. Halibut entree was exceptional, but menu was too limited for friends who were huge seafood fans. The only meat entree on the menu is fried chicken, no steak, pork, or veal. Service was excellent with very hot and sexy waiters. Birthday celebration was a let down - ran out of candles and only offering was a piece of pie.
Hostess wasn't very friendly but maybe she was having a bad day. Lovely low lighting but difficult to read the menu. We were seated very near the entrance ramp to the main seating area so there was quite a bit of traffic. Food was good with generous portions. We split a seafood platter and a great bottle of wine. Our server was very friendly and attentive.
The server we had was not a good server. Everyone around us arrived later and finished ahead of us. She made excuses of working an evend/group which says the restaurant didn't staff accordingly.
The sides under the fish were not the same temperature and had obviously been sitting waiting for the fish.
She comped our appetizer as we still waited f R the main as if this made up for a main dish that took over an hour to arrive. We had to wolf it down at that point.
Good food. But there are many other business lunch choices. I'm not confident to take a key account here for lunch due to the service experience. It would dampen the engagement.
I must say that I am disappointed with the new menu. I used to go all the time and the last time I went I was disappointed. This time I hoped that it had gotten better but not so... and I was again disappointed. The menu has moved to more plant based foods. My guest had a hard time finding something he wanted to eat. The fish of the fish and chips was good but the chips part were disappointing for what I had previously had. Not sure I will be back after two disappointments.
My wife and I came for supper and were not disappointed. I started with the crab and tater tots. The order came with lots of crab meat but the tater tots looked like something that was bought at Costco. Still, it was delicious. Our server was very pleasant and made the evening fun. Overall, the food was excellent. The wine pairing was a bit disappointing. On its own it was lovely, but got lost with the food. Also, the portions were way too big. My appetizer could easily have been split between two people. Make sure to be hungry before you go.
I've been here before for the regular menu, and I was there to try the Summerlicious menu. And it severely disappointed me. I wasn't a good representation of what the Chase could do. The best was the appetizer, the main and dessert did not live up to what the Chase really is.
When the dessert came, the garnishing leaf was dirty and when I asked the server he tried to convince it was the veins of the leaves. But I knew it was dirty because it left dirt in my strawberry shortcakes sorbet. But I did not want to fight with him about so I agreed and ate the rest.
Regarding the service, it was great but not the best compared to what I know it as. My sister and I waited for quite sometime before we could get water. And maybe it was just the day, the servers weren't as warm as they were normally.
I would come back, but if was a customer coming to the Chase for the first time. I would not want to go back. But because I've experienced what the Chase can do, I will come back for the regular menu.
Went for summerlicious and a coworker's farewell lunch. Food doesn't worth $23 at all - salad in the entry was not even fresh and had this soar smell when they usually goes bad. Same for desert. Service was hyper slow. Won't go there again even for regular meals.
My husband and I came for dinner prior to an event. The food was fantastic - we had the muscles (the best i have had in ages), the tuna nachos and a cod taco. The place is cool (I was told after that there was an amazing 5th floor that must be visited/great view, but no one at the restaurant informed us of this?) . The service was great.
The only thing was we sat in an area where they had pulled the tables apart to manage a number of tables for 2, so they were too crowded and the wait staff was sort of on top of you when they were serving other tables. Also it was a little hard to hear each other talk.
Overall really enjoyed and would def recommend.
Although the food was good, I was extremely disappointed that my reservation was not honoured. I had an 8:00 pm reservation on a Sunday night and arrived on time to be told that there were no seats inside the restaurant. I was offered the patio which I did not accept because of wind/rain. It was 30 minutes before I was given a table and when I sat down, there were 6 empty tables. I actually took a picture of the empty tables. This is not acceptable. A word of warning for anyone who is trying this restaurant.
Staters and main course were fine. Would have liked more sophisticated desserts.
Wine service was poor . Can't ' understand why the server took the bottle away and I could see that she wrote something on it. She didn't come back to refill glasses, so I asked the waiter. Then the wine server came back with a new bottle I had not asked for ! She said the waiter had told her to do that.
If the first bottle was indeed empty, why did she write something on it?
Why do you not have coolers at the table instead of taking the bottle away?
