The Charcoal Room - Santa Fe Station Hotel & Casino Ratings and Reviews
Mashed potatoes were not hot. There was a singer/piano player and it was too noisy for conversation. We wanted a quiet elegant dinner and there was too much commotion. The server was excellent. We have a coupon and will use it but that will probably be our last time at the Charcoal Room.
My wife and I dined at the Charcoal Room, Santa Fe Station hotel-casino on Thanksgiving Day. My wife had the prime rib special and it was a very generous cut and delicious. Fortunately, there was enough to share because I ate very little of my turkey entrée. The turkey was awful! Priced at $45, I expected real, hand-carved roasted turkey. But what I got was worse than any buffet I ever attended. If you go next Thanksgiving, order the prime rib or something from the regular menu.
The hostess did not greet us as we walked in and then walked quickly and away from us as she showed us to our table. She was not personable at all and even reached around me as I was being seated to hand my wife her menu. Thank goodness it got better from there. Our waitress was very nice and personable. The food was fantastic! Enjoyable evening except for the hostess. Definitely didn't let it ruin our night. We will be going back and would definitely recommend.
Kevin, our waiter, and his assistant, Ray, were so great. They were very attentive to our needs and wants, which they actually anticipated. The steak and prime rib were outstanding. The mushrooms and potatoes au gratin were also fabulous. The bread basket is filled with a super variety of warm, delicious breads. The Charcoal Room is always superb.
This used to be a great restaurant, now its average at best. The new Executive Chef ruined the menu. Every time we are here we hear people complain about it. The room manager does nothing but lean on the bar and watch sports. We have been here at least 10 times in the last two months and he has never checked in. The servers even comment about how downhill things have gone and it’s clear by the fact that less and less people are there each time we go. Wake up management. You ruined a great place.
Service there is excellent. The waiters/serves were very attentive to our needs. Food was great and everyone had a great time eating there. If you have a party of more than 4 you must call in to make reservation. Open table doesn't allow a party of 5 or more to book online. A great place eat.
Had the prime NY steak, and that was excellent, as was the bread. French onion soup, chopped salad, and mashed potatoes with horseradish were decent, but nothing special. The side of mushrooms was massive, and very tasty. As for the service, the busboy did a very good job, the waiter seemed disinterested and didn't make much of an effort. Overall a decent local steakhouse, but nothing that would make me rush back.
Had a reservation for two people,The lady would not give us a booth, she said all of them were taken.....When we left at 630 noticed she still had three booths not taken.....There were two males in our dinner party.......She said goodbye to all of the other customers except for us.....She said are reservation did not specify a booth......Being a Presidential card holder, did not like the attitude of this Hostess......Card #4915560 .......Also the surf and turf had the smallest Filet Mignon I have ever seen.....Next time I will take a picture...Waiter seem to be under staff could not get waited on severe times, even though the busboy did a great job....
We love The Charcoal Room and our server Anthony is excellent and always request him. He has worked there for a long time and a definite asset.
The new Manager Derek is very personable, knowledgeable and will be an added asset to the restaurant.
My husband normally orders the petit filet mignon, this time he found it smaller than usual.
I ordered the porterhouse this time and it was excellent.
Overall a great dining venue.
Pleasantly surprised by the ambience with a guitar player and the decor and a delicious meal with excellent service. It's close to our home and so we plan to make it a regular spot for Friday nights and other nights for a quality meal and entertainment at a reasonable price with nice accommodations and atmosphere.
To be completely honest, we were very disappointed this time. I love their green bean almondine and order it with my filet every time. I was looking forward to them. They are no longer on the menu and have been replaced with brussel sprouts. REALLY?? My steak was smaller than usual and a bit over cooked. For $32 for the steak alone, it was pitiful. Won't be going back.
