The Cellar: Tapas, Beer, Wine
We had a nice time at a birthday dinner at the Cellar. The dishes were good but not particularly inventive. Also thought it was pricey for what you get. Great atmosphere though, nice wine list, excellent service.
Did not like the paella, needs more sauce and better rice.
My friends and I were there recently. We’ve dined there several times and always enjoyed it. We were assigned a table for two even though there were three of us. The Manager or owner, not sure which, was apparently observing. He came out and immediately moved us and had a conversation with the staff. This made our dining experience much more enjoyable. This is the kind of service customers appreciate. We will continue to frequent The Cellar and will recommend it to our friends.
The food is always good and unique. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Not at all cheap, but the food supersedes price. The tapas blend Spanish with haute cuisine, from paella to fried avocado to lamb chops and lamb wraps to more traditional Spanish tapas. The wine list is good as is the beer on tap-list.
WQe had not been there for quite a while, but our server recognized us and made us feel welcome; and visitors to the city were welcomed with smiles and good service as well.
Strongly recommend The Cellar; it looks like a cellar inside but produces some of the best food I have had in Albuquerque.
Overpriced. I don’t mind paying for quality, but food is average to below average.
Was very disappointed, had a reservation at 5. When I arrived the parking lot was empty and there was a close sign on the door. So I left was really disappointed and wanted to see if this was something temporary checked online nothing about being closed, called the restaurant and the man that answered says they're open, I asked about the close sign, " I dunno were open come on in", no apology nothing evening plans were ruined because this mistake.
Food was subpar. We got cold food. For the price, food is not good enough.
Fantastic ambiance food and drink. A wonderful departure from the chains and local chai. Restaurants around town. We celebrated our wedding anniversary and we're very pleased.
Delicious food and intimate ambiance for two or a group. Definitely going back.
The restaurant was busy when we arrived and the noise level was louder than I remembered. We ordered five tapas variations, one of which was out. The first three came out in short order, but the fourth was held up due to that station being delayed. All of the food was very good, but the flow of food and the delay in the middle of the entrees resulted in what would have been an exceptional to merely very good.
Wonderful food, lots of choices Friendly, helpful staff. I always enjoy eating here.
Amazing food and drinks. We will be back. Only downside is that we made a reservation and waited 40 minutes for a table.
After having enjoyed a visit here before we went to Barcelona and then did another after going to Madrid, I can honestly say that The Cellar offers an outstanding array of tapas that are very reflective of the Basque region. Love the different white and red wine offerings. Would highly suggest getting the stuffed peppers with chorizo , the lamb lettuce wraps....the asparagus and the garlic shrimp.
We were too full for desert but we had a great flan last time. Great trip to Spain without leaving the 505!
One of my absolute favorite tapas restaurant I’ve been to. Service is always wonderful along with the food. Their sangria and desserts are worth a try. I suggest a reservation as they do seem to fill up quickly.
Weak beer and wine selection, food was tramendous, couldve served a bit more to make it more filling but enough. $100+ for 2 with 2beers each.
consistent quality except for the dessert. the chocolate mousse was not very good. salmon and burger were very well done. sweet potato fries are better than the rosemary truffle fries.
Love this place!!! Always amazing food and great service.
The menu is seasonal and changes 4? times a year. Good selections and variety. The paella is excellent as is the sirloin dish. The cordero (lamb) is equally excellent. Our 12 year old grandson loved his lamb dish so much that he would not share it with anyone. The 8 year old grandson insists on going back to eat there again and for the flan as this was the first time we took them. We usually enjoy The Cellar for just the two of us. My husband absolutely loves the white wine sangria. It is outstanding. We highly recommend The Cellar to anyone without reservation.
We were there on a crowded Saturday night and thoroughly enjoyed the ambience, the food and the service. Maybe a bit noisy, but that's part of the fun. The paella was excellent, so was the wine. Parking was easy and the location very accessible. What a pleasant surprise!
Nice 2 top by the window only one in sun. Large SUV pulled up in parking place by window which diminished the view—would be nice not to have it so close. Particularly enjoyed the sirloin steak tapas suggested by waiter, stuffed peppers and fried avocado our regular. Got a nice souvenir New Mexico Blue moon glass for ordering 2 beers.hopefully they will get approval for outdoor beer garden space which would greatly improve seating options.
Great food in a cool industrial setting. Try at least three different tapas while you dine.
Well-made, interesting and delicious tapas great variety, caring and informed service. Chairs could be a lot more comfortable. We had a great time.
A fun place to visit for special occasions but not frequent visits due to high prices.
Great food, nice people, we really enjoyed it! Would be a great date spot!
food is very good, but they do not honor reservation times, and do not seem to be at all concerned when they are 30 minutes late for at least 5 different groups the night we were there. To be that late for a 630 reservation for 4 just means you are seating too many folks early in the evening.
Great menu with a variety of cold and hot small plates. Go with friends so you can try a variety. Nice wine and beer list. Make a reservation, as the place was packed by 6:15pm
My wife and I made a reservation at The Cellar for Valentines Day. We completely understand that this is one of the busiest dining days of the year so we expected it to be busy. We got there right at our reservation time of 8:30. They had a table open and ready for us which was good. But after that there was not many positive things to say. This review is solely based on the environment of the restaurant as we did not stay longer than a few minutes as we knew this was not going to work for us. The biggest issue we had with the establishment was the way it was set up. The tables are unbelievably close together as if they wanted to cram as many guests as possible with lack of concern for the comfort of the guest. It is nearly impossible to walk in between tables without rubbing up on another guest. The person sitting to my left was literally closer to me than my wife was. With this being Valentine’s Day we wanted to be able to interact with each other and there is no way we could have carried a private conversation knowing the proximity of our neighboring diners. So we decided to leave before even ordering a drink. We are disappointed because we really were excited to eat there as the menu had a good selection to choose from. Maybe we will try again on a day that is not as busy but advise for the restaurant would definitely be to reconsider how they currently have the layout of their tables.
Food quality and presentation was above expectations while the wait staff seemed to lag a bit. I’m not complaining though,it was indeed V-Day.
Nice take on Spanish tapas. I especially like that there are lots of vegetarian choices. The grilled vegetables are savory and done to perfection. Their take on gambas al ajillo with the whole roasted garlic on the side is exceptional. The wine list, while small, has some nice choices. Eager to go back!
Very good food. The menu has changed from our initial visit a few years ago. The prices have gone up from what we had experienced in the past. For over $60 we didn't get what we had in the past.
My daughters birthday.
What should have been a short 7 minute drive to the Cellar from our home turned into an almost hour-long ordeal due to a wreck on the interstate. There were several people waiting to be seated, luckily I had made reservations which were honored even though we were an hour late! Long and short of it, fantastic service, tasty tapas, and great atmosphere. We will be back!
We ordered four tapas and a bottle of house wine. All were excellent. Definitely recommend the fried avocados.
Top notch service and food is wonderful with the exception of the Naan bread which was rubbery, flavorless and not adequate for dunking in all of the wonderful sauces the dishes were prepared in. Desserts hit the spot! Will definitely return!
Terrible food. If you want tapas go to Mas Tapas. Worst dinner in along time. Nothing good there !
Such a wonderful night! The service was top level and the food was insanely delicious. I think we tried everything on the menu and were never disappointed. The churros are a must!
The food was excellent, a quasi-fusion between modern ideas and traditional tapas. The fired Avocado and the lamb chops really stood out; the lamb came with a risotto that added up to almost a full meal in themselves. The portions were substantial and the quality exceptional. Beware, though, the place is not inexpensive....but very much worth it to splurge.
Great food! Wonderful atmosphere.
Had a really nice experience. Great food and atmosphere. Pricy for ABQ, but perfect for a special occasion. Happily spent three hours there picking at the wonderful food and drinking wine.
We had heard many good things about this Spanish style Tapas Restaurant. Upon entering we were glad we made reservations because every table was full. It was a very quaint establishment with lots of atmosphere. Unfortunately, it took 15 minutes and me stopping a staff member walking by before we could place a drink order. From their the service was sporadic. Water glasses were consistently empty. Our first two orders we quite good. The roasted pepper soup and asparagus, but unfortunately the paella was not worth the wait. Upon receiving it the food was cold and fish over cooked. Furthermore, they put chorizo in the dish, but we did not order it. Overall it was a disappointment. For the price and hype I would have expected much better service and quality.
