In 1969, artistic craftsmen of Disneyland fame created a romantic rendezvous in the cellar of the old California Hotel. The Cellar is the perfect setting for an intimate and romantic evening of fine dining. Tbe Chateaubriand was fabulous! One of the best steaks I have had in many years. The char on the steak was perfect. The potatoes and veges were also great. The only minor complaint was that our cocktail took about 20-15 minutes to be delivered even though the restaurant es slow. Our waiter was very good.

Celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary by having a romantic dinner at The Cellar! We had a fabulous dinner, service & food were excellent! This was our first time coming to this restaurant. We will definitely be back!

If you're not an alcohol drinker, you might as well not go.
Once I mentioned that I didn't drink, it was as though I personally ripped an extra $20 of the tip from the waiter.
It was our anniversary and when we sat, the host mentioned that we'd get a "special surprise" at the end of our meal that never came.
I also ordered all the appetizers on the menu instead of choosing an entre which I think also bugged the waiter as he asked for confirmation on two separate occasions.
There was no parking and the valet was full so we had to park two blocks away in a parking structure. We had no idea that the only entrance to the Cellar was through the valet area so we walked an extra 10 minutes around the bank, around the parking, and back around through the valet to get to the restaurant in 94 degree heat, sweat-drenched.
Anyway, the food was delicious but with the crummy experience getting there paired with the crummy experience of not being an alcohol drinker, and I'll also add on that the ambiance of the restaurant seems weakly kept up. Simple details around the restaurant scream "easy fixes" like stickers on the bathroom doors and continuously lowered lights to mask imperfections in the walls and flooring.
I cried the whole drive home because of how crummy the whole experience felt. It left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Our second dinner at The Cellar and it was just as wonderful as the first. We're already planning our next dinner, hopefully soon. Not as pricey as some other local restaurants which are so loud you can't carry on a conversation and the service is no where near as attentive and friendly. With The Cellar you will enjoy a quiet and relaxed dinner with an excellent bar, food and service. * * * * *

The food was amazing and cocktails were made perfect. Our server was Patrick and he did an excellent job and gave great recommendations. We will definitely be back and the food again was amazing. Thank you guys for a very pleasant dinner and service.

Cocktails and food are both phenomenal! Would like to see the wait time, for cocktails, shortened - I may have enjoyed another one, if it had been. Also, while I understand this is an old restaurant (and the name is The Cellar), I feel like things could be cleaned up/brightened a bit while keeping with the original feel of the restaurant. Overall, it's a classic restaurant - that you have to try for a special occasion - just make sure you leave the kids home!!!

Having been there in the past has been great. But this time was a disappointment.when asked on open table if it was a special occasion l said it was a birthday,when we got there they asked the same,when we were seated the waiter asked but l still do not why ? They did nothing. In the future when we celebrate we will go else ware ( and save money also).

The food was excellent. The bar drinks were well presented and custom touches made them special without gimmicks. Only suggestions would be to add one more salad and dessert. The chateuabriand was excellent.

Excellent food and excellent service. Our waiter was quite knowledgeable about the menu and provided great recommendations. The seasonal fish (grouper) was delicious especially with the homemade pesto. The lobster bisque was exquisite. We would gladly return!

The food was very good and I was expecting it to be on the pricier side so no surprise. I was surprised that the people at the tables on either side of us were close enough to touch. It takes away from this being a romantic place to dine. I wanted to proposal and this was not the place to do it!

My husband and I enjoyed our experience at this establishment immensely. The quality of the food was top notch and the execution was perfect. I am a private chef so I critique what I eat with expert perspective. The server was talented and attentive (may be a little less explanation on every menu item unless asked) and the service flowed smoothly. The first wine suggestion was horrible but the 2nd replacement Cabernet was divine. We started with lobster bisque and it met my expectations (the portion was a bit small). After that we had Cesar salad which was tasty and presented beautifully. We enjoyed the elk tenderloin which was cooked perfectly with brown butter and sage and the gnocchi was delightful with a crisp exterior and a pillowy silky core. With our main course we a side of mushrooms (the Enoki mushrooms are my favorite with that burst of sweetness to the savory sauté, yum) and the truffle mac n’ cheese. Of all the dishes we indulged in I’d have to say the Mac n’ cheese was just ok, I couldn’t taste the truffle and it badly needed salt. Our overall dining experience was excellent and we will be returning.

We were in a smaller room near the bar. It was quiet and very nice. The food was excellent. Everyone in my party was very pleased. The creme rule that was given to me to help celebrate my birthday was the best I have ever had. The service was excellent. Jimmy made sure we had everything we wanted and needed. We have been here before but we decided we need to come more often.

The cellar was AMAZING. Definitely worth the trip and price for the formal experience and expert service. We were seated at a table to the right side of the bar, which gets congested when it’s busy and the din started to overpower the atmosphere. We took a tour of the rest of the restaurant and the open area to the left of the host stand seemed much more calm and comfortable, you could still even hear the music playing! Highly recommended, just request a quiet table when you make your reservation and they’ll do their best to accommodate you :)

The Cellar never disappoints. Excellent food, service, and ambiance. It’s a special place to dine, and we very much enjoyed having Andrew for our server. He was personable, knowledge, accommodating, and engaging. Can’t wait to return.

Love this restaurant. The lobster bisque fantastic...just not enough. Chovolate souffle with salted Carmel sauce too did for. Yum yum.

The service was excellent! From the many restaurants all over USA and Europe, I’ve been in, this is among the very top few. Jimmy was our server and he was an exquisite host.
The food was perfectly cooked and excellent tasting. The portions were very satisfying. An amazing dinner and experience. Classy!

The steak alone was worth the price of admission. It was one of the best I’ve ever had. However pairing it with pomme frites (French fries) seemed to cheapen it. By the way, the fries were included, not my choice.
The ambiance was spectacular however, we had a table not a booth and my seat cushion over a two and a half hour evening was not nearly comfortable enough. If you go get a booth.
Still I highly recommend the dining experience.

Been to the Cellar a few times for drinks at the bar, but this was our first visit for dinner. We were celebrating a birthday (8 of us total) and we were not disappointed. Alex our server for the night was very attentive, kept our drinks & water re-filled all evening, and was on top of everything. Cocktails were outstanding (as always!) and food was superb. My BF even forgot one of his gifts, and Alex called us shortly after to say they found it and were holding at front desk. Will definitely come back more for dinner, and of course to the bar! :)
