In 1969, artistic craftsmen of Disneyland fame created a romantic rendezvous in the cellar of the old California Hotel. The Cellar is the perfect setting for an intimate and romantic evening of fine dining. The service was slow which for us was fine, since we did not want to be rushed. Their wine list was extensive and good. We started with a Proseco and had a bottle of Chateau du Pape Rhone Red Blend which was excellent. My wife had a petit filet and I had the elk steak. Both were perfectly cooked. We finished the dinner with a chocolate souffle with a grand marnier cream sauce. We had ordered a grand marnier souffle, but someone erred. However, it was excellent. For a special occasion which this was, it was an excellent meal and would recommend the restaurant.

This was a great find. Randomly picked this restaurant for a place for dinner. It was so good. The service, menu, nice and dark ambiance. Nothing negative to say. Oh!!!! Had the chocolate soufflé with salted Carmel!!! So yummy.
We’re going back.

This was our 4th year celebrating our anniversary at the Cellar and each year it has been amazing. This year our waiter was Phil and he was both nice and hilarious. He brought out a complimentary creme brulee to celebrate our night and it was well received! I will for sure be coming back next year for our next anniversary!

We visited on a Tuesday night and the restaurant was very quiet which was fine as we were a group catching up after not seeing each other for a few months.

The food was cooked and served very well.

The service was slow, especially with the cocktails we ordered, although not a big problem I did wonder how they would cope if the restaurant had been busier.

Definately a great place to eat in the area and will be back next time i’m In town.

I have heard great things about the cellar restaurant and really looked forward to going. We went on our 30th anniversary. The ambience was awesome, I loved the Decour, the music, the feel of the restaurant. Our server Jimmy was very nice, but the service was extremely slow, we felt ignored and they forgot our soup, and our soufflé Did not turn out, so the chef wanted to do a new one, wasn’t impressed. Our entree was tasty, but we felt like there was a VIP table of 4 that’s was being tended to, so we were the forgotten couple, and service took 3 hours .. Bummer because we won’t be back

The bar and service were the winners here, which truly is a shame as I had high expectations for the food. While the menu was one of the most limited I’ve seen on a non-holiday, our server was excellent, friendly and very well versed in the offerings. The cocktails were next level and the lobster bisque was the best I ever had. Those high points aside, there was nothing remotely special about the main courses. We both ordered steaks and agreed we could have had better at Ruth’s Chris. The sides again were nothing special. The deserts were a massive disappointment with zero flavor. If you can’t impress with me with everyday menu items, then I simply can’t justify the experience as being anything other than mediocre. Beware parking is a massive inconvenience. Save yourself the time and trouble and go somewhere else. I’m sure there are some great bars with excellent mixologists you could visit for the experience we had. At the end of the day, this is a restaurant that’s food is lacking.You will probably enjoy the meal and experience overall much better somewhere else. I’m truly sorry I couldn’t give kudos past the point we hit our soup.

Fabulous service from Andrew! Fun romantic ambiance even tho I generally like view restaurants. The food was delicious! We didn’t leave for almost 3 hours. Thank you Cellar restaurant for a memorable date night from this Seattle couple!!!

The food was delicious, but the service is a little concerning. My friend was having a diabetic episode, and when I asked the bartender for orange juice, he was happy to help, but the 2nd time, he said he could only give me a little because he was “running out”. I was a bit shocked, my friends blood sugar was low, we were on the brink of calling an ambulance and the bartenders main concern was how much juice was left? I asked our server a few times for bread and the 3rd time I asked for an ambulance. He seemed shocked, said ok, and left. A few minutes later the orange juice seemed to help my friend so he decided to cancel the request of an ambulance. When I told our waiter to cancel, it didn’t seem like he had already called them. We asked our waiter for more juice, he left, a few short minutes came back and said he didn’t have orange juice and asked us what other juice. My friend, already crying just wanted any kind of juice, any kind of sugar. He brought out sugar cubes, my friend ate them like chips and he felt much better after. We decided to stay and enjoy the rest of the night. No manager came to check on us, and we were charged $10 for 1 1/2 glasses of orange juice. I hope that in the future, the staff can be a little more considerate in a situation such as this, and a manager would come by to check on someone who was on the brink of passing out in their restaurant. I hope that this can be a learning curve and the staff can treat it for what it is, an emergency, and not worry about how much juice is left. As drastic as this might sound, his life was at stake, it felt as if no one seemed to notice or truly help us in the end.

The food was good and our sever was excellent. We enjoyed our rib-eye steaks accompanied by lobster bisque, which was excellent, and salads. We also enjoyed different red wines. The booths are a little lumpy and uncomfortable.

It's been MANY years since we were here last but it did not disappoint. Andrew was our server and he was beyond FABULOUS! He was so attentive, engaging, helpful and efficient. He made excellent recommendations and everyone was extremely happy with everything. All the food from starters (soup, salad), entrees to dessert was FANTASTIC! The Souffle's were DELICIOUS! The cocktails were unique and yummy! The Cellar is a bit challenging to find because it is underground and you definitely feel like you are in a Cellar which we found unique and fun but not all people might like it. It could be a bit claustrophobic for some but we loved it! The wine list was surprisingly small but we enjoyed the wines we ordered. I would ask for Andrew if you go there, he was Spectacular and truly added to our experience there.

Our first time. Loved the dark and intimate atmosphere. Service and food was wonderful. Had a couple hiccups (forgot hubbys drink and Mac n cheese was super salty) but other than that, it was wonderful. We would definitely go back.

Food was great however service was VERY VERY slow. We waited at least 30 mins before anyone came to take our drink order. Then it was another 15 minutes before we got water and bread. Dinner reservations were for 6:30pm. We didn’t get served our main course until 8:00pm.

Great service (Marc).. Great for a special occasion. Fish special (Orange Roughy) prepared perfectly. Veggie Risotto -Portobello was Balsamic-heavy and rice could have been creamer. Caesar salad wasn't impressive....no finesse and small for $15. Specialty cocktails were creative and enjoyable.

Water glasses were not refilled right away and our waiter seemed like he was either very new or just not terribly good at explaining the specials. The waiter behind us seemed more seasoned. For the price you expect a certain level of both service as well as appetizing food. I really was hoping for an overall excellent experience but that is not what I experienced. Also...when trying to make a reservation I observed the times were limited, however upon arrival there were lots of empty tables so I am perplexed about the limited availability when making the reservation on-line.

One drink was almost as much as a main course, but my manhattan was amazing, and reasonably priced. honestly ate like a king, and can't wait to go back with the wife. Was amazing.

Having eaten at the Cellar several times many years ago and enjoyed it, my wife and I decided to celebrate her birthday and try it again. That was an unfortunate choice. Wine list was poor and menu preparations were mediocre. Noise level, even though we were in a booth in the back of the restaurant was unacceptable. I could hear everything said from booths near us. The ambiance would have been acceptable if they had gone to the trouble of highlighting their wines along the wall. I know, it is a "Cellar". Sorry, that does not cut it for a "high end" restaurant, and we paid for it. Although we were sitting directly across from the wine racks, we could barely tell their was wine in them. The waiter was nice enough but I will stop there. The mystique is gone.

This was our first time dining at the cellar. Great place for a date or celebrating a special occasion. Very romantic and the food was really good. We had steak, mushrooms, and mac and cheese. Will definitely come back.

I thought it was a French restaurant. the sauce for the scallops was definitely un-French. And the scallops were overcooked. the snail indifferent; the onion soup way too much cheese.
