The Cellar at Duckworth's
Great time with friends for a birthday! I would recommend for a fun evening
Food was excellent and service was wonderful....my only issue is it’s way loud!
Noisy but nice.
Love everything about the Cellar... ambience, food and especially the service Darren provided us. Darren is always great with his commentary history of Cellar and recommendations for food/wine. I'm giving 4 stars due to the hostess being a little rude with her response upon arrival. I apologized for running late I had a meeting run longer than anticipated and she stated we give you 15 minutes but your 20 minutes. I apologized again, she never acknowledged the apology just gave the menus to another woman and told her where to sit us. I found her response little abrupt and not acknowledging my apology childish. Since I eat here often hopefully it was just a miscommunication between us and moving forward I will make later reservations to prevent any future issue.
This was a really nice experience. I brought a client here who hadn't dined at The Cellar before, and they loved it. Great food, amazing crafted cocktails, and a really cool atmosphere. Our server, Bobby Sunshine, was the epitome of a server who genuinely enjoys what they do and who they work with. Definitely will be back!
Birthday celebration was outstanding
Unbelievable start to finish!!! The waitstaff was incredibly knowledgeable and genuine. The red wine was delicious and recommended by our waiter when explained what we typically enjoy. The food was prepared to perfection. Can not wait to go again.
We got a great table for our anniversary. Staff was attentive bit not overbearing. If you haven't been to the Cellar it's time to go. The bacon and oyster appetizers and amazing. The ribeye is my favorite. My honey loves the scallops with chorizo.
We were one of this first tables seated for the night and it was very quiet initially. By the time we left, I could not hear the person beside me speaking. The small restaurant, number of tables squeezed in and lack of acoustics made it very loud once the restaurant was full. The service was outstanding; our waiter was clearly very knowledgeable about the food and drink options. I had the cellar mai tai and it was delicious. We also had the brussel sprouts, risotto, ribeye, and pork steam buns that were excellent. The duck flatbread and beet salad were not as great, but also may be a matter of personal taste. We had the nutella cheesecake and tres leches cake for dessert which were also delicious. The prices of the small plates were reasonable ($10-15 generally) and easily shared. The ribeye was on the pricier end, more along the lines of a fine steakhouse. It was well seasoned and to temperature so overall I was satisfied even at the higher price point. It is dark, but it's a speakeasy cellar after all so to be expected. I wouldn't suggest this place for a quiet romantic dinner due to the noise level but great for a night out with friends.
This place is great. I've been here a few times with clients. They love it too. Hidden gem in Uptown. Service is always outstanding. Specialty drinks and beer cellar selections are fun. If you get a chance, do a tour of the beer cellar. Cannot go wrong with the Mole Old Fashioned either (with smoke). Chargrilled oysters and steaks were done perfectly.
Bobby Sunshine took great care of us and the food was fantastic
This is hands down the best restaurant in Charlotte. The main draw is the dozens of hand-crafted cocktails you cannot get anywhere else in North Carolina, maybe not even anywhere in the entire South, outside of maybe NO or ATL. The whiskey sour with whipped egg white is among the best concoctions I have ever had, and this coming from an avid single-malt scotch aficionado. Every thing on the menu is amazing, from the duck flatbread, to the truffle fries. The single greatest food item, is by far the scallops. I, no joke, felt as though time slowed down while savoring every bite, As if by instinct I closed my eyes as so my I could devote more of my brains sensory perception to taste. Perfectly cooked and seasoned, paired with exactly the right sauce. The only complaint, if you could call it a complaint, would be the menu has not changed in over two years, I would love to see what else they can make a transcendent food experience.
The food was some of the best I’ve had in uptown Charlotte. The service is great! We loved the look and feel of the restaurant!
Great smaller place, food and drinks were delish and service was great above all. A little pricey but great for a special night out!
Food and drinks were amazing. The tuna tartare was to die for. Darren took really good care of us. He made it a special night for my girlfriends birthday! Can’t wait to come back
Very cool vibe. Food was awesome. Got the beer cellar tour. Will definitely go again when we are in the area.
Had an unfortunate experience where there was a power outage. Only could get served drinks. Had our meals ordered, but then were ushered out. Sad experience!
We ordered a drink and an appetizer and then as soon as we ordered our entree’s The power went out and we had to leave no fault to the restaurant but our car was also stuck due to the power being out. We walked a few blocks in the cold to finally reach the epicenter where we were forced to eat :(
EVERYTHING was excellent!! Our table of 5 shared several small plates (tuna tartare, beets, candied bacon) and then each ordered “large plates”. Steaks were perfectly cooked. Cocktails were amazing. Our server (wish I could remember her name!) did an outstanding job figuring out each one of our tastes for cocktails. We went with her recommendations; she hit the nail in the head for each of us! Great atmosphere and excellent food, drink, and service! :)
Thank you so much for dining with us! We hope to see you again soon!
Everything superb..a little pricey..would be nice to have bread or rolls available..
Excellent handcrafted cocktails and extensive beer list. Brussel sprouts are a must. The tuna tartare was good, as were the oysters. The scallops were excellent but smaller portion. Grouper was good but a little bland-the pesto rice as an accompaniment was great however. The gnocchi was tasty but very salty.
Our server was friendly and very knowledgeable to help us navigate the menu.
The Cellar at Duckworth’s never disappoints! Great shareable options and the best Moscow Mule!
Wow… Best hidden gem in Charlotte!! The food, the atmosphere, and the drinks, were amazing but the big stand out was our server Darren!! He truly made the experience outstanding and we will be back next time we are in town and request Darren as our server!!
Thank you SO much for your kind words. We hope to see you again soon!
I would recommend this place to younger people. We went for an anniversary celebration. It was so loud we could barely hear each other talking. We were very disappointed in the so-called "tour". The guy just stood there while we looked around. My steak was good but her steak was very fatty. The charcuterie tray and the brussel spourts were wonderful though.
Poor service and very loud. Food is very good though.
Nice atmosphere in the basement of Duckworth's. The food was solid, but portions were small. What really negatively impacted our experience was the over-the-top, tacky service. I feel like we were listening to the waiter's spiel longer than we were talking to each other.
We had wonderful service, and our server Nikki was so sweet! She helped guide our dinner choices and made my birthday dinner that much better!
We selected this place for our anniversary because it was listed as a romantic place. Only thing romantic was the dim lighting. This was more like a corporate outing bar. Food was amazing and the their list of cocktails.
Wonderful experience start to finish.
Great evening .
This was our first trip to the Cellar , but definitely not our last . The food was top of the line and our waiter, Ben , was outstanding. The ambiance was one of the most unique I have ever experienced in a restaurant. This place is a the top of the line ..
Always a great evening!!! Love the atmosphere so much...so cozy😄
This was our first time at The Cellar at Dillworth’s and our server Zach was knowledgeable, timely , friendly and professional and attentive. Two of us ordered the filet mignonette. Without a doubt it was the best filet I’ve ever had. The 1800 degree broiler is perfection! The custom cocktails and draft beer are awesome. My son had the expresso Manhattan and can’t wait to have another. I had the Russian Imperial Stout which was also fantastic! The truffle mac&cheese is great as were the beet salad and balsamic Brussels sprouts. Definitely get the scallops as well...superb!
Fantastic food and drinks as usual! Great place to have a fun business meal!
Great experience for a special occasion. My husband and I went here to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. The brussels sprouts were amazing! The best I have ever had. If you’re a fan of old-school mixed drinks, this is the place to come. I had a Sidecar that was really tasty. While the atmosphere, food, and drinks are old school the delivery is not. Food comes out as it becomes available, not at The same time. It is very much worth it!
Always so much fun and delicious!! Many small plates and awesome craft cocktails with excellent service makes this restaurant my go to place whenever I’m in Charlotte!!
The Cellar was recommended by a colleague at work and did not disappoint. Food is unique, but very good. Highly recommend the brussel sprouts, simply fantastic!
Reservation for a Tuesday night, sat next to a table of 18 - 20 white collar screamers making it impossible to talk to our guests. We ordered at about 8 PM, my wife ordering to appetizers, duck flatbread and brussell sprouts. Drinks arrived form the bar and 10 minutes laters meals started to appear from the kitchen. With everyone else eating we asked our waiter for an ETA on my wife's dinner and a bowl of french fries we ordered. 5 minutes later a bowl burnt semi charred french fries arrived, our waiter apologized profusely. We asked again about my wife's dinner as our two guests had finished their appetizer and entrees and my wife was hungry and getting irritated. Finally her food arrived at 9:15 PM, one hour and 10 minutes from ordering and 30 minutes after the rest of us finished eating. We heard a lot apologies we were even comped my wife's dinner and the burnt french fries. We only went to this restaurant after hearing great things about it. Maybe we just had a bad night, bad waiter, bad chef or all of them at the same time but I know I won't bother returning.
We went here for our anniversary and it was perfect! The cellar has a high energy vibe while still being intimate. Our server was knowledgeable and so friendly, and the food was delicious. But the drinks were the best part, they take a few minutes to make but definitely worth the wait. We will be back again for sure.
