The Cedars Social Ratings and Reviews
The Cedar' Old Fashioned is one of my favorite cocktails in Dallas. A few friends stopped by for dinner on Saturday night. It was not too busy, only half the tables filled. They seated us by the bar which was loud due to a rowdy few. All I was thinking about was having my favorite drink. BUFFALO TRACE BOURBON, CANE SYRUP, BLACK WALNUT & CHERRY BITTERS, SMOKED CEDAR PLANK. They actually smoke the orange peel and capture the smoke with a cedar plank and serve it. It was brought to us. No cedar plank, no smoke, no fancy cherry. It was basically just an plain old fashioned. The menu has less items on it which did make the food come out faster. The burger was pretty good, not great. I did complain about the cocktail and they did take it off my bill, which was very nice. It is just that I came here for that one experience and was disappointed. The cocktails were the one thing that this place had going for itself and now I doubt I will give it another try. The good news is that the bourbon bar in the Statler is a new favorite with those craft cocktails I like so much.
One of the worst dining experiences I think I've ever had. This was my anniversary, and after sitting for almost 20 minutes, no one had acknowledged me or my wife, no one had brought us even a glass of water. I asked to speak to a manager and their response to me was basically yeah, I'm sorry that really sucks. Absolutely horrible.
I have never done an OpenTable review before, but Friday night was one of the worst dining experiences I've had. My husband were there before a concert with plenty of time to spare. We sat for 20 minutes with no service, no water and no silverware. The table next to our confirmed they were having a similar experience.
When the server finally showed up we went ahead and ordered because we didn't want to wait again. After another 30 minutes they brought our first dish, mac and cheese. It was wrong, salty and dry.
We had to stand up and find someone to request both water and silverware.
Our other items, the meatballs, deviled eggs, fried chicken and truffle fries were so salty and mediocre in flavor, and took another 20 minutes.
The cocktails were decent and if we return it will only be to drink.
My favorite restaurant in downtown Dallas. I go whenever I am seeing a show at south side ballroom. It’s convenient. The service is friendly, very attentive but not hovering. The cocktails are inventive and tasty. My favorite meal is the Cedar house salad followed by the shrimp and grits. Dinner here will really get your night off to a great start! I highly recommend it.
Took some friends for a birthday brunch & hadn't ever been here before. We LOVED the 9.95 mimosas plus penny refills! The chicken biscuit and parmesan fries were delicious! The service was great & entire staff was really friendly! I will definitely be back to check out their dinner menu!
I like to intrduce my friends to new places when they visit. I had not been to cedars social in a few months. Now I remember why I don't go. Its ALWAYS SOMETHING. They were out of everything I tried to order.
No olives or juice for a dirty martini.
No charcuterie board.. no limoncello for lemondrop martini and finally.
NO PORKCHOP. 7:30 on a friday night.
Wont be back and will never recommend it. They must be going out of business.
A group of us got together to so see Blondie and Garbage at the South Side Ballroom which is conveniently located across the street from Cedars Social. Great place to dine prior to going to the concert. I would make reservations early though. All tables from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. were already reserved.
Went for Mother's Day brunch. The food was underwhelming but not bad. Our server seemed new - we only saw him a couple times throughout the meal but many other members of the waitstaff stopped by often when they saw us looking for him. The ambiance is really nice and I would definitely come back for happy hour - but not quality enough food to go for a special occasion.
I met a couple girlfriends at The Cedars Social for what was supposed to be a quick bite & drink before walking over to a concert at South Side Ballroom. I had made a reservation in advance. We were seated immediately, but it took almost half an hour for me to get the drink I ordered. The restaurant was very full with fellow concert goers & extremely understaffed server-wise. There was even a shortage of menus, as ours was repeatedly taken off our table to be used by others. Our server was very sweet & apologetic, but it was frustrating at how long the visit took in total. I would assume catering to concerts at South Side is a normal thing for the restaurant, & was confused why they seemed completely unprepared for the rush. We ordered three appetizers (meatballs, mac & cheese, broccoli salad) & a round of drinks each & everything was delicious. I enjoy the food & ambiance at The Cedars Social, but will not plan on eating there again before a concert when in a time crunch.
We chose this restaurant because it was across the street to a show we were going to see. However, once we ate here we knew we would be back. Everyone had something different and each person talked about how good their food was. From the burgers, chicken, pork chop and more. Excellent food, friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere. Will definitely be back.
This was our first time and it was a wonderful experience for my girlfriend and for me. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. May not be for everyone, but we appreciated various staff coming by and checking on our status. Food was delicious but be prepared to spend a bit of money, my entree was $32 and the other was $18. Great presentation and yummy!! We're definitely coming back. We're not drinkers so, I can't speak to the cocktails but, again, the food was really good: mussels in chili broth and carne asada...
