It was a little pricey for what you got including some canned mandarin oranges in the salad that tasted a little off. We had also hoped to get through the meal quickly and were a little disappointed with the amount of time the food took to get out. Other than those two points everything was good. Everyone enjoyed the majority of their meal and the decor has several interesting features that became conversation topics.

Restaurant was not expecting us when we arrived . However, the staff quickly set up a table and took our order Food was tasty. however everyone's appetite at the table evaporated after being told that I had seen 2 mice/rats near the restroom when I visited it as well as out entire party of 7 seeing a mouse run across the dining room in the far corner. The staff in the restaurant didn't understand English very well . This restaurant is in the lobby of The Westin, although the Westin assistant manager told us the restaurant was undependently operated

For a $40 steak, we were highly disappointed. We (4 of us) all got filets and they were the toughest cut of meat I've ever had. Very dry and not very good. We would not recommend this place.

We visited here while attending a conference nearby. It was a Sunday and the place was relatively empty at noon. Service was fine and food was good (steak sandwiches and salad). I would definitely go back, especially as that particular area of DC does not offer many decent dining options.

We scheduled a dinner meeting here and enjoyed the ambience. The restaurant was fairly quiet on this Tuesday evening, with traffic picking up around 8:30pm. The mixed greens salad was fresh and not overly dressed, to my delight. Unfortunately, the sea scallops and risotto were quite poor. The risotto was a bit crunchy, not creamy, and under seasoned. 2 of the 4 large scallops were spoiled and tasted like ammonia... I requested another dinner and was pleased with the salmon and rice pilaf with roasted vegetables. The other diners were pleased with their meals (steaks, burgers, salmon). The service was a bit slow, but otherwise very good.

This is the hotel restaurant, and it is just that. Food is uninspired, service slow. Breakfast choices were white bread, wheat and a non brand English Muffin. Enough said?

Terrible service, bizarre atmosphere. Numerous people came and waited to be seated and no one ever greeted them. People would stand for a few minutes, then just leave. There appeared to be only two staff members running the whole dining room and bar area, possibly even the kitchen. One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. This is the first time I've ever left feedback but this place warranted my effort.

I researched some brunch places in the West End and decided on the Caucus Room. I didn't realize its essentially a hotel restaurant, albeit a lot more stylishly decorated. The food was fine, nothing to write home about. The service was soooooooo slow despite being 1 of 3 tables occupied in the place the whole time. Coffee refills were very rare and had to be requested. Bottom line is NO BRUNCH. Just a regular lunch menu. We had no warning. We most likely won't be back.

Finally, a restaurant with a nice wine list! Not only does this restaurant have a nice wine list, the Cab by the glass was excellent. All of us ordered steak and no one complained one bit about any of them. The menu was broad enough, the service was attentive. However, I should mention that the main course was brought out before any of us were finished with our appetizers. Its unclear why that happened as the restaurant was empty. (I think the place is brand new). The location within the Westin hotel made parking convenient (validated, and below the restaurant). However, the street entrance to the restaurant is NOT actually to the restaurant. Its actually better to either park at the hotel and take the elevator to the lobby - or simply enter the hotel lobby directly to get to the Caucus Room. The inside space where we sat had a nice, high ceiling, was quite and warm and allowed us to enjoy the long, nicely appointed bar. They have an outdoor courtyard away from the street (likely to enable cigar smoking). It looked inviting, and when the season moves towards Spring, I look forward to experiencing their outdoor seating. Overall, this was a good restaurant and I'm glad to have found this place.

The food and ambiance were great with the exception of the server continuously going outside and leaving the door open right near our table for about 5 minutes each time. It was about 40 degrees F outside that night so it made it very cold and uncomfortable.

First time visit. Only 1 other table was occupied. Not sure if it was due to the fact that it was pre 4th of July night or this says something about its popularity. (Note - Blue Duck accross was fully booked! ) It was recommended for steak but the chef just did not get it right and we had to return a dish. I would recommend the Salmon dish though. The quality of food served does not justify the price you pay . I would not recommend it.

Very disappointed. They were out of filet mignon and scallops. We ordered a brie burger, we got a regular cheese burger, we sent it back, they scrapped the cheddar cheese off and re served it with brie. There was only one other patron in the restaurant. How can you get an order wrong with only 2 orders?

We had dinner reservations for 5:00pm and we were the first people present. Our main entrees did not arrive to the table until 6:05pm. By this time the excitement/interest of eating at the restaurant was lost. I think this is totally unacceptable for a $200 meal. Our server was really nice the young kid didn't know what to really say when I kept asking questions.

I have no idea how good the food is here, because the service was so awful my wife and I left before even ordering. Although it bills itself as a steakhouse, there was only one real steak option on the menu the waiter handed us. It was heavy with burgers and seafood, not what we had come for. We pointed out that the menu we read online had more selections, and he responded casually that the online menu might not be up to date and that this was all they had. He indicated they had no steak specials to offer. We then noticed a chalk board with a number of steak cuts being featured. When we asked our waiter about those, he seemed perplexed. We decided to leave anyway, in case the kitchen staff was as clueless as the waiter. Maybe they were having a bad day, but I will never go back to find out. (Ignore my rating for food -- there was not a "not applicable" option.)

It took 25 minutes for our lunch order to arrive and only after having to create a bit of a fuss, although the restaurant was almost empty. In the meantime, not even bread was brought to the table. It was a strange experience. One of the service people was sloppily attired--shirt hanging out over her apron. I was embarrassed because this was a business luncheon. This was not a good experience. It is a shame because the restaurant is rather nice looking and has an outside patio that must be lovely in nice weather. However, it is daunting to go to a restaurant with only two other tables filled and then the service is extremely poor. As there are few French restaurants, I would hope that the Westin can improve service and increase the number of diners, so that it is a more popular appearing and good experience.

Would not reccomend for brunch. I have been to the place before as we live in the neighborhood. It's always quite and has a very nice ambiance. The brunch menu is very plain and the service needs major improvement/training. I had eggs with toast and the server never asked what kind of bread I'd prefer, never offered any juice, and not asked us if we would be interested in the desert menu. The place has a nice selection of teas which is not on the brunch menu. I had to ask multiple times for water as nobody was checking on us. For the $ spent, Ris is an excellent place for brunch and has excellent service!

Very poor and unprofessional service. Staff was rude and unfriendly from the moment we walked in. I receive a pot of tea but did not get a cup to drink it. Then there was no spoon to mix it. I had to ask for each separately. By the time all was there, my food was getting cold. I received a phone call at 8:30 am on Sunday morning. Somehow they needed to have a reconfirmation of my reservation. Food was good but not exceptional to cover the service gap.

We had a reservation for 11:15 and were told when we arrived the Breakfast menu would end at 11:30 and we could order from that or we could order from a different lunch/brunch menu for the other Latin restaurant opening at 12. Two different restaurants at same site with different cooking crews. We had checked the reviews of top brunch venues and this one was highly rated; however, the breakfast Caucus Room menu was fairly ordinary and the other restaurant was primarily Latin American dishes. We ended up sitting outside so it didn't make much difference. Food was good but not extraordinary and few people were there on a Sunday at 12. Given the write-ups on the brunch, it was a little disappointing. Outside sunny and lovely

The service was very good and the food was fine enough,... but it has no similarity to the original Caucus Room. It is simply a hotel restaurant. Great if your staying there from out of town or in for a conference,.. but many other better DC choices. I think if they continue to make it a 1000point restaurant it will draw more people. Great space and fantastic courtyard for the spring and summer.

Late reservation for 2 (sat 9:45 on Friday). Dining room much smaller than portrayed online; felt more like a hotel bar than a high-line restaurant. Server generally inattentive throughout the evening--started off well, but nowhere to be found later in the meal. Another server even had to clear our plates and deliver our check, and I had to box my own leftovers. Overall, for $250, a highly-rated steakhouse chain or other restaurants in the area would have provided much better quality. Early courses were very good, but my wife's lobster tails were overcooked and difficult to remove from the shell. The cheesecake was decent, but very cold in the middle, indicating probably frozen at some point. Steak was tough, unremarkable for a ribeye.

Un-offensive. Un-imaginative. Un-inspired. They neither wow nor offend. No reason to ever eat here twice. Actually, no reason to eat here once unless you're a hotel guest who doesn't want to leave the property. There is nothing good to say about this place nor anything bad, which in my view makes it the worst kind of restaurant. Boring. Oh and if you want bread, be sure to ask. They don't serve it nor mention it. Plus what "french" restaurant offers cheesecake, sorbet and rice pudding for dessert offerings? I could go on, but if you haven't heeded my warning by now, you can add to the list after you've dined here.

Had lunch here yesterday with some colleagues for the first time. The restaurant is beautiful on the inside courtyard of the Westin and the staff friendly and attentive. I found the menu a bit limited for lunch (not nearly as exciting and extensive as Blue Duck Tavern across the street) so I ordered an Onion Soup and Spinach Salad with Salmon. The Onion soup was a bit too cheesy but was nice and hot. The Salmon was slightly and dry but the spinach fresh and delicious. I think I'll be back for a second try since the staff was great and because the dinner menu looks more extensive.

I came with a group and was worried about being too much of a disturbance, but there weren't that many people in the restaurant, and we had a lovely time. While the food was wonderful, the service was a bit slow (though we may have slowed things up by sending the waitress away the first couple times since we were not quite ready yet). The short rib was great, as were the brussels sprouts. Lots to enjoy.
