The Cat Inn is a 16th century free house set in the picturesque village of West Hoathly, a hilltop village set in the heart of the Sussex countryside. It is in within easy distance from the towns of East Grinstead and Haywards Heath and only 25 minutes from Gatwick Airport.

The Pub with its oak beams and two inglenook fireplaces proffers a warm and cosy atmosphere in the winter, whilst our terrace is perfect to enjoy a drink and food in the summer months. Being a free house we pride ourselves in the quality of our real ale, and concentrate on local breweries, such as Harvey's of Lewes and other micro breweries. Our food is cooked to order, using fresh, seasonal and where possible locally sourced ingredients. Our menus change on a regular basis and we also offer a small selection of seasonal specials on a daily basis.

We welcome children over the age of 7. Dogs are welcome in the "pub" area of the Cat, they are not permitted in the dining room

    Had a lovely birthday meal here - sat in the garden. The serving staff were all absolutely brilliant, really friendly and made a huge fuss of our dog (he is pretty cute). The meal itself was excellent - beautifully presented and very tasty.

    Possibly the best meal yet in the Cat Inn and the others have all been fabulous as well. Wonderful service, a lovely summer evening dining in the garden. We have recommended the Cat to many others and we love to take our friends here when they visit the UK from Europe. It is what they expect from an English country pub in a beautiful village.

    A lovely pub! We came based on positive reviews, and it lived up them! The pub is really stylish and cosy inside with interesting spaces to sit. We sat outside in a sunny space with shade. Service was attentive and friendly. The food was absolutely lovely, a top notch menu. Nice wine. It was elegant but not pretentious. Would love it if this was my local. Prices are therefore a bit more perhaps £20 for fish and chips) but probably much what you pay for quality pub food now. We would love to come back another time, it’s halfway between my friend and I so very handy!

    Amazing food with a great choice of specials and exceptional service. Our favourite place to eat locally, always fantastic food at a very reasonable price considering the high standard. The service is top notch every time.

    Our first time at the Cat Inn but certainly won’t be our last. It excelled from the quality of the food through to the warm and friendly staff. It felt very relaxed in the pub, with locals talking at the bar, lovely decor and seating arrangements inside, backyard terrace and seating outside the Inn which is in a quintessential English village with church opposite.
