Was a charming ambience with superior quality of food and cocktails were exceptional!
One of a few good places to eat in Natchez for "fine dining"
I really enjoyed the restaurant. The food was good and the service was ok. We were there for lunch and the prices were reasonable. Some reviewers in the past mentioned a free tour with their meal, but we were not offered one. We had fried chicken which was very good.
The Castle Restaurant is in the old Carriage House/Stables from the late 1700's and was the first building on the property. It is all brick with a large fireplace. The food was fantastic, the portions were huge (a half salad easily fed 2), the staff was fantastic, and the ambiance was great. This was the best food we had in Natchez. It is on the grounds of the historic Dunleith Inn which usually requires paid tickets for a tour. However, if you eat at the Castle restaurant first and save your receipt the tour is free.
This was our first trip to Natchez and to The Castle at Dunleith. It was a great experience and we can't wait to go back.
We celebrated my husband 60th birthday! Awesome food! Awesome service! We were also able to tour the Dunleith house as guest of The Castle! Win win!
Everything was great...beginning to end. Filet was cooked perfectly. Gouda grits and mashed potatoes are a must. Enjoyed a fantastic Cabernet. Service was wonderful and the atmosphere is magical!
The place was very nice, love the décor and the staff was very friendly and kept great care of us. The food was superb. We had the filet and the fish...both dishes were cooked to our liking and the taste was excellent. The salad I had was good and the shrimp bisque was excellent. Even the mashed potatoes were creamy smooth and tasted great. Tea was kept full as we ate our meal, not overly attentive, just the right amount to keep us happy. We have found our new favorite place for anniversaries and romantic dates when we have the opportunity to do so.
My husband and I celebrated our 22nd anniversary at The Castle and as always was rested to 5 star dining!!
As usual, wonderful food, lovely ambiance and great service.
Overall it was good... they ran out of chicken within the first 15 minutes. Took a while to fry some more but they did and brought us a whole plate.
We always have dinner here when we visit Natchez. Food is excellent as is the service and the setting is historic. Highly recommended.
Beautiful restaurant. Great wine selection. Food was impeccable! You won’t be disappointed.
We highly recommend the crab cakes that are light and packed with crab meat. Our dinner was superb.
Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable."
Buddy of mine and I brought our wives to this venue for Valentine's day. There was ample parking outside. We were met at the door, inquiring about our reservation. She reviewed and quickly escorted our party of 4 to our table and handed us menus to review. Our server came shortly to obtain our drink order. The restaurant was full at noon and our server was handling a number of tables. We were not in a hurry, and our drinks did take a while to be served. The server did come back to take our order. We all ordered a salad, but when served, only 3 were delivered and server asked what I ordered? The others in our party waited till my salad was delivered which took a few minutes? The house chopped salads and caesar salads were good. They also served delicious hot rolls. When I main entrees were served, 3 of the 4 were correct and mine was incorrect?? Server retreived the incorrect order and went back to the kitchen. My correct order was delayed, I had the others start eating. When my Salmon was delivered, it was hot and good. The strawberry shortcake and cheese cake desserts were also good. I did have to flag down another server to obtain refills on our drinks. I would go back, because of the food and ambiance.
I took my fiance there for her birthday. As usual, great food, wine, and service. It's the best restaurant in the city.
Great experience at The Castle! Our server Emmie was very attentive as well as the host/hostess station when we arrived. Our outstanding dining experience included fried green tomatoes, Caesar salad, steaks (filet & ribeye cooked perfectly) crusted with bleu cheese and dessert to go. Emmie even wrote happy birthday to my wife on our to-go box :) When you go, ask for Emmie!
Unique setting with great food and excellent service
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Enjoyed our family meals very much!
My wife ordered the redfish
Became very ill about an hour later
Suspect bad fish
She ordered a cosmo cocktail it was so bad she sent it back
I order a Yungling beer on the menu
Did not have it ?
Have stayed here before never had this kind of experience
Terrible service, we left after 1hr and 30 min of waiting for the server to get our food. Nobody came to the table to tell us what was the problem.
This was my birthday celebration/date. The waiters were especially attentive and knowledgable about the menu and wine list. Lovely
Had a wonderful experience from the start,
Would highly recommend this place for ambience, food and hospitality
The service was excellent! Unfortunately despite a fairly empty restaurant and reservations we were seated in a drafty area. The dinner menu is limited to 8 entrees. Upon arrival we were told that the restaurant did not have beef that day which eliminated 3 of the 8 entrees. The bread and whipped butter was excellent as was the tomato soup. The shrimp fettuccine seemed over cooked and my dinner companion felt that the macaroni and cheese was undercooked and the collard greens tasted odd. We were dissapointed in the food.
There are very few restaurants in Natchez with a good wine list. This is probably the best in that department. Superb steaks and cajun food, too. Downstairs bar scene was crowded (game night), but upstairs formal dining was quiet. Something good for everyone. Highly recommended.
If You are within 30 Miles of Natchez, MS, this is worth Your Drive & Time. Unique & Wonderfully Nostalgic. johnrobert(73)
Our meal on Thanksgiving Day at The Castle Restaurant was one of the top dining experiences of our lives, and we've traveled and eaten at hundreds of places. Every single dish was perfection, from the turkey and dressing, to the green bean casserole and sweet potato dish that was to die for!!! Our server was friendly and efficient and waited on us with a lovely smile throughout our long lunch. (It takes time to eat that much good food!) The cooks really knew how to fix a good old -fashioned homemade traditional southern Thanksgiving meal. They outdid themselves! And our table was beside a window overlooking the lovely grounds of Dunleith. The view, the food, the service--all was top notch. Thank you, Castle, for making our Thanksgiving a day to remember and cherish!
We have visited Natchez the last couple years. Our experience at the Castle with Cortez as our waiter was great. Definitely great atmosphere. We look forward to returning.
This was the best service by far. The waitress was the best part and that is hard to beat. Food was amazing as always.
THIS WAS MY HUSBAND'S 65TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION. WE STAYED AT THE HOUSE AS WELL. HE WAS SO PLEASED !! WE ALSO ENJOYED THE COLLEGE GAMES AT THE PUB.
My husband and I ate here for the first time for our 21st Wedding Anniversary. The place is historic, but the ambiance, delicious food and outstanding service made it a very special night for us. Thanks B! We look forward to returning.
My husband and I had a 6:30 pm dinner reservation on Saturday evening. When we arrived the restaurant was empty....not one other customer was there. It’s a lovely place and our server William was very nice. Fried Green tomatoes were fine and my husband liked the Red fish entree okay. My ribeye was a bit over cooked but tasty. The Yukon mashed potatoes were so salty I couldn’t eat them. Overall this was a mediocre experience and we were traveling so hoping for a much better evening out. By the time we left there were 2 other tables (total of 6 people) having dinner ..... really? on a Saturday night?..
Excellent southern food! The best friend chicken.
Excellent for lunch but menu limited unless you get the buffet. Food is excellent. Dinner menu is expensive. Beautiful location. Free tour of adjacent mansion if you eat there, a worthwhile visit of an antebellum mansion.
Wonderful wait staff. Would return next time in Natchez
The Castle at Dunleith was a fantastic restaurant with a attentive waiting staff and even better food. I would absolutely recommend anyone wanting good food to go.
In the past this food has been excellent but this time temperature was off on each item. There were four of us and we each ordered different items. To start the soup was tasty but barely warm and each course after that was the same. We were disappointed but will give it another try as it has been so good on the past. Every place can have an off night and perhaps this was the problem
Excellent food, excellent service, excellent atmosphere, excellent made cocktails. What else can be said.
