Contemporary American
The Carlile Room is Tom Douglas’ 13th restaurant in Seattle. With references to the explosive vibes of the late-sixties/early-seventies in its décor and classic seventies-era lounge cocktails, The Carlile Room presents a thoroughly modern and progressive menu with “plant house” features, and our favorite local meats. Located across from one of Seattle’s storied performance halls, the Paramount Theatre, The Carlile Room will cater to pre and post-theatre crowds with shareable plates and a hearty late night menu.

This was really NOT a burger worth the name of Tom Douglas. It was not just boring, it was also dry and totally overcooked, even if we had ordered our meat medium/rare. As a compensation they took our $11 starter off the bill (the one we shared).
Too many restaurants right now for TD to keep up quality?? To add, we have been costumers of Etta’s (the first TD restaurant in Seattle) since they first opened, more than 25 years ago, and have since, without prinnabbmenjoyed many other TD restaurants through the years.

The food and ambiance was great. We shared the hunters breakfast which was enough food for two. We'll be back to try the other dishes!

We went for brunch. The menu was quite small and on the pricier side ($15+), but we enjoyed the food and the service was very good. We had the waffle sandwich and the two eggs dish with add-on steak. They surprised us with an orange cinnamon bun for dessert with a candle since we were celebrating a birthday.

In fairness we ate from the happy hour menu in the bar area. While the happy hour food was above average for a Douglas restaurant we would expect a little bit better. We have had dinner here before and it was excellent. Suggestion to the menu planner step up the happy hour game in the food department just in terms of the competition. Overall delightful time spent.

Awesome treatment of a wonderful variety of vegetables. The appetizers, which every other restaurant serves on small plates, come on PLATTERS. Four appys and two cocktails for two hungry people and we still took a doggy bag home. The beets, fritters and asparagus were exquisite. Wish we'd had room for more.

We enjoyed the three cheese appetizer. One member of our three person party ordered the impossible burger and was mist impressed. It was very hard for this meat lover to distinguish it from the real beef burger ordered by another in our party. Both burgers were juicy and flavorful! The fries are also delicious! I ordered the home made pasta with turmeric. It was outstanding! We will be returning to the Carlile Room!

I haven’t been “wowed” by a restaurant in a long time, but tonight I was! We ordered the giant rainbow plate—an assortment of vegetable dishes—all were fantastic. If I could cook veggies like this it would not be hard to be a vegetarian. My cod was beautifully cooked, seasoned lightly and served in a broth with asparagus and mushrooms. Dessert was chocolate panna cotta which did not disappoint. I was there for restaurant week, and was pleased the choices were off the regular menu and portions were not slimmed down as I have found in other restaurants. Well done Tom Douglas!

We all loved doing restaurant week at another great Tom Douglas restaurant. We shared three different salads and they were so delicious. My personal favorite was the roasted cauliflower salad. Two of us had the cod and enjoyed it. It was surrounded by vegetables in a delicious broth. The other one had the strip steak but was disappointed in the meat. Our waitress was fantastic and we would all come back again.

Fresh food but out r service was terrible. Our server never asked how our meals were and never filled our glasses with the bottle of wine we ordered. The gratuity is included in the bill and I felt the server didn’t deserve the gratuity we were forced to give.

I apologize that you did not receive the service you deserve from a Tom Douglas restaurant. I have passed your comments along to FoH management so they can review service standards with our staff. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, so we can improve for our guests. Andrea E Guest Relations, TDR

We enjoyed another wonderful pre-theatre meal at the Carlile Room, this time a birthday celebration prior to our play at A.C.T. The entire evening was a hit! Old favorites, the duck fat hush puppies and beet quinoa salad were especially delicious. We loved the beautifully prepared cod, grilled asparagus and incredible roasted carrots, too. Everything was seasoned perfectly and presented beautifully. Equally terrific, our delightful server, so gracious and efficient. This is our go-to pre-theatre spot. Period.

Amazing place. If you are a vegan, vegetarian, or carnivore, you will have selections! The tempura asparagus appetizer was AMAZING! The whole table loved that one. I ordered the plater of vegetables and it comes out on a huge tray... each dish on that tray was incredible. They even made them vegan for me. Yum... can’t wait to go visit again!

Their vegetable dishes are the best in the city. As my dining companion said "if I could eat vegetables like this everyday, then I would become a vegetarian". We also had cod which was perfectly cooked. I have never had a bad meal there and intend to keep going back!

We loved our table, our waiter, and the food. Wished there had been a little more "extras" served with the entree. We asked for bread to go with our meal, and that was good. The bill was quite a bit more than we expected. We are happy to pay the 20% gratuity as part of the bill, but feel strongly it should be added in separately, not added after the tax is calculated in.

Thank you so much for your feedback, we appreciate you! I'm pleased you enjoyed your experience and selections. Unfortunately WA state requires taxation on any service charges. That law was changed after we implemented the service charge policy. :( Andrea E Guest Relations, TDR

Great wine and drink menu. Great place to share appetizers as "tapas". Limited main course menu. The price range was a little misleading on the description. Figure $40 minimum. This restaurant would not take a reservation on Open table for more than 6 in a party but we were able to sit more than 6 in ours.

I don’t miss an opportunity to eat or grab a drink here. Service is always good, and the food excellent. This has become my ECCC lunch hack, as it’s close to the convention center but off the radar for most. Paid off again this year, with plenty of open space - but I’d made a reservation just to be on the safe side!

When I’m in Seattle for Emerald City Comic Con (I’m local), I make sure to book myself a table by myself for my Momcation. The Duckfat hush puppies are my favorite! The cheese platters are amazing and they always have a great by the glass Cab Sav for me. They are a Seattle gem.

As usual, The Carlile Room delivers THE BEST hamburger in Seattle! Charred and crunchy on the outside,
pink and tender on the inside. We always order it in a lettuce "bun", which is messy but fun to eat. Our waiter, James, responded to our request to lower the great, but too loud music, by lowering it just the right amount.
