The Carbon Bar
Where fun-loving aficionado’s, gourmands and bon vivants meet to share un-pretentious snacks, plates and platters delivered with impeccable hospitality in a space inspired by the storied past of a rock’n’roll discotheque, an upstart TV station and a media giant’s studio.
Amazing night for 24 people. Treated like private dining with unbelievable service and the food was better than some of the great BBQ guests had in Kansas City, Nashville, North Carolina, etc. in the past few months. Great in every regard and will continue to go back to The Carbon Bar as a go to in the city.
The food and service was amazing. Great atmosphere as well. I recommend this place to everyone
We enjoyed our meal, but found it load and expensive.
A very nice and tidy place. Wonderful food and excellent service.
This place gets full marks. We ordered the Pit Master's Platter and everything on it was excellent. It did prove to be just a bit much for 2 people, but what we couldn't finish was neatly packaged and waiting when it was time to leave. The service was attentive without being intrusive. Bianca at reception was particularly helpful. Perhaps because it wasn't really busy on a Monday night we were able to choose our table. There was only one minor disappointment and that was the Louisiana Red Beans and Rice. A look at the description of the ingredients was enough to tell that it isn't authentic. I've had that dish in New Orleans where it is a traditional Monday night dinner and it is not prepared that way. However, the chocolate mousse dessert was a killer. I would return and I would and have recommended it to several people. Altogether, the experience was a home run.
The server was unpleasant and seemed annoyed. I wasn't aware of no seafood on Sundays and the whole reason I went was for seafood. The alligator bites was just fried batter, no meat, and no taste, so all I had was grits. I was too disappointed to even try anything else. I also didn't like the area. I won't be returning and will not recommend. I wouldn't mind trying another location though.
I think everything was fantastic. From the greeting upon arrival to the cleanliness of the restaurant gave you a good impression to start off with.
The staff was super attentive but also not coming over to ask questions so frequently.
Food was phenomenal although the beef brisket was slightly colder in terms of temperature than my previous visit.
All and all I enjoyed the experience.
The food was very good. The KFC appetizer is a must. We had the meat platter and the brisket. Both were excellent and there was lots to eat. The service was outstanding. My only complaint was I felt the cost of a 9 oz glass of wine was extremely expensive. Otherwise I would highly recommend.
Food was good but the excess of flies in the restaurant was bothersome.
Amazing bbq by Chef Kris and his team. Had the best service ever from Caleb. Very attentive! Love Carbon Bar!
Pitmaster’s platter was awesome.
1/2 price oysters was also a major plus.
Always a great experience! Great cocktails, food was spectacular.
Food took a long time to come out more than 1 hr but was very tasty. Service was great which made up for the delay.
The food was amazing, Drinks were fantastic, and the ambiance was really nice. Only issue I had was there were flies flying around out table and food when it was brought out. Luckily I swatted them away before they could land on the food.
Had a great experience!
The Carbon Experience was amazing but make sure you have an appetite before ordering(LOTS OF GREAT FOOD!!)
Service was fantastic, loved having different servers bringing out the food.
Many thanks to Matthew who made the experience great even before our reservation. I popped in a few hours before to see if I could grab a table in a specific spot.... he was able to do that for us so many thanks once again.
Don’t remember the name of our server unfortunately but she was great with explaining the experience and courses.
We will be back!
But next time....no lunch before dinner😂👌🏾.
The appetizers at The Carbon Bar are outstanding... a must try is the barbecue cauliflower! Dinner was a combination of seafood platter and barbecue teaser platter, so a little of everything. Nothing disappoints. Delicious food and great service!
The food and experience once we got to the table was fantastic, which is why it’s so unfortunate that the hostess at the front gave so much attitude.
I was with a group of 10 executives celebrating a colleagues promotion to Vice President. The hostess informed us when we got to the door that they had tried calling and because I didn’t pick up our reservation was given away. I had spoken to her colleague on the phone the day before to expand the reservation beyond what Open Table accommodates. She gave a great deal of attitude and in front of all executives and to be honest I was embarrassed since I had booked the reservation.
A miscommunication, a bad policy in general and followed by a very rude hostess. No follow up or commentary to apologize for their mistake.
Make sure that you answer every personal call from random numbers within 7 days of your reservation or else don’t bother eating here.
I took my friend for her birthday and we managed to get a happy hour drink before the cut off at 6pm.
We shared the pit meat platter, which was very tasty and we couldn’t finish it as there was so much. We didn’t touch the fries! There was the option to take home what we didn’t eat.
The staff very attentive with water top up and when we shared a dessert they put a sparkler in it for my friend’s birthday. Would definitely go again.
KFC is a not miss. I come.to this restaurant for it. Bourbon based cocktails also very good. One of the best spots in this part of town
We waited 40 minutes for our reservation. Brutal brutal service. Food, however was excellent so if you don't care about sitting down at a particular time or your bill being accurate or your server having any kind of f's to give, then definitely go eat then.
Took a lady here on a first date and it's not an exaggeration to say that the staff, food and vibe here made me look like a wise man with style!.. Which sadly I am not. After we marry we'll name our first child Carbon in honor of the night! I'd name the kid Bar but that might be contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
I had my dinner at the Carbon Bar on Sat this past weekend on the hottest day of the year. The restaurants air conditioning seemed to not to be able to keep up with the heat so it was sticky in the restaurant and as it got busier it got hotter and more sticky. Also the table I was seated at had lots of flies and fruit flies flying around. Which was kinda gross and annoying. Ending my dinner I had some fruit flies that were dead in my drink... The server did offer to make me a new drink, but I was ready to leave by that point. Food was AWESOME which is probably why I didn't leave in the first place.
Cuisine excellente. Assortiment de viande pour 2, délicieux
Service excellent, tous les serveurs sont très agréables. Bel échange avec un serveur toulousain qui nous a donné de bons conseils
Love coming back again and again. Always exceptional.
We have been to the carbon bar several times.
We always order the pit master platter: the carbon bar is much nicer than many BBQ restaurants around Toronto, but it’s still a bbq joint, so if you go, you’ve got to have bbq.
The beef brisket was particularly delicious on this occasion.
Summerlicious outing. Seated at noisy, busy corner. Food was terrific. Service was slow to begin but picked up over the course of the evening. A great night out!
Overall good experience. The server was just ok. Asked for a Dark & Stormy which had way too much citrus of some sort. Asked for their tea selection which included Earl Grey so ordered it. Got English Breakfast instead. When I mentioned it to the server he disappeared with the teabag and then returned to say they had no Earl Grey.
Great bourbon selection
excellent food and very good value for the money. We love this restaurant
First time here and I’ll definitely be back. Food was delicious. Loved the atmosphere, service was great and so were the drinks!
We had the Lobster roll and the Pickerel filet-both outstanding and the service was excellent.
Food was amazing! Start with the KFC! The ribs were great, fall off the bone.
Summerlicious menu was not worth it, sea food options are super small portions and lacked any flavour and not anything unique. Regular bbq options were great and tasty.
Great vibe overall. Drinks, food, service, and vibe all A+
A great place for a group! I had a party of 8 for my birthday. We were seated in a round booth and it was perfect. Service and food were great! The meatetarians and the vegetarians were all happy! The fried chicken, coleslaw, jalapeno corn bread and lobster roll were all a hit!
They even gave me a birthday sparkler! Love this place!
Great! Had the meat platter and it was awesome. Martinis are also on point.
Awesome food and really great service! We have been before and will keep coming back.
Portions were a bit small for the summerlicious meal value for dinner at 43$, particularly for the seafood boil.
Menu is short but contains some real winners. The Caesar salad with duck bacon and added fried chicken was just superb. The crudo (which has replaced the ceviche on the menu) was fresh and packed with flavour. The duck pancakes were good (although I did have a chunk of duck that was inedible because it was so overcooked, but the remainder was tasty enough that I forgave the problem).
All of the waitstaff were lovely and helpful, and the venue has a cool warehousey feel to it. Great location if you’re seeing a show at Elgin Theatre as we were.
Great service. Overpriced. The only thing that was good from the bbq platter was the chicken. Very disappointed in the brisket- over salted and dried out.
