The Carbon Bar Ratings and Reviews
Brisket is very tender but fatty. Pan fried cauliflower is very tasty but contains lots of salt. Prepare to drink lots of water for the next few hours to satisfy your thirst.
Service is okay.
All in all, I think it's a restaurant targeting a young crowd. Older patrons beware.
Atmosphere is open and eye catching. signature cocktails were overpriced for the quality. Food was decent, we shared the pit master platter. Duck tacos were amazing! Service was poor. Our waiter was not very informed about the menu, seemed distracted and didn't come back until the end of the meal to see if we needed anything. Another drink would have been nice.
Our experience at Carbon Bar was amazing! The Manager Matt was exceptional in accommodating us for my husband's birthday and even made sure our table was one of the best in the restaurant.
The food was exceptional, the customer service was stellar and the price was GREAT! I can't say enough about our experience there and we will definitely be back.
Really great meal. Originally my reservation was for 2, then 4 others expressed interest in joining. The Carbon Bar staff quickly changed the reservation and were very friendly about the request. The staff was attentive during the meal and again very friendly. The food was delicious and the wine pairing was perfect. Overall would and will readily recommend to others!
Our 1st Brunch in Toronto & we absolutelyloved everything about it. Food was hot & delicious, drinks were creative and a perfect compliment to our meal. Service was fast & friendly. We loved it so much we booked a return dinner to try your dinner menu!
Can't wait to return.
I used to frequent this place often, but started to feel that the service and the food wasn't consistent so I just stopped coming. I thought I'd give it another try a year later since the menu options had changed... and I have to say I honestly wasn't really impressed. We ordered the oysters, cheddar hush puppies, bay scallop poke, duck tacos, crispy BBQ pork belly, KF frog legs, amongst some other items. They were good but nothing special (something I could find at pretty much any eatery nowadays). What I was really disappointed in was the rush in service. I guess because it was Winterlicious, they had really limited reservation windows (2 hour max) which is unheard of considering I was meeting a friend whom I haven't seen in so long and had every intention of making an evening of it. We were kicked off the table (not fully done eating, and definitely no where near finished drinking), and were asked to stand at this random "desk". It was basically a partition separating the bar and the dining room with a floating ledge on it. Needless to say, we stood at the "desk" for 5 minutes to finish our drinks and then left. Such a turn off.
Carbon Bar was a great night out. Food was delicious, cocktails tasty and imaginative, lots of menu options, and the building used to be the old Electric Circus so that was an interesting bit of trivia. Best of all was the service. TO has a myriad of excellent food and cocktail spots but the staff at Carbon Bar really like what they do and that adds something extra special to the experience. The place was super busy (Winterlicios) and we were very well taken care of. Thanks and kudos to the staff and managers! Superb night out!
Went before theatre with girlfriend, decided to share a bunch of starters. Oysters. Shrimp, scallop poke, duck tacos, beet salad. The staff was excellent, friendly, took passion in their job, described each food offering delectably, including what order to eat the oysters in. The scallop poke was a wonderful explosion of taste and textures in your mouth, the duck tacos were very flaovurful, shrimps were HUGE, oysters yummy. Definite re-visit in order.
Had the delicious BBQ platter and really appreciated the chef's suggestion to start with the brisket and end with the chicken, which was a winning suggestion. Also had the pork belly starter which was great, the slaw and the mac and cheese. Ended with the basque burnt cheesecake which was delicious, but it's close enough to the original to reduce my desire to head back to San Sebastian for the real deal (which would have been convenient!).
The ambiance is great and they have a good cocktail list with very original drinks. The food was OK but maybe too much and it really was regular BBQ. Nothing special. In terms of service, we got passed around a bit with the service that was provided. The first person was great but she was leaving her shift. After that it was inconsistent and then strange to have somebody completely new to give us our bill and manage payment. She was inattentive and unprofessional.
