The Captain's Table
Dinner (Sun-Thur) 5:00pm - 9:00pm
Dinner (Fri-Sat) 5:00pm - 10:00pm
6 of the 11 dinners went back - overcooked
This has had to be the worst service I have seen or experienced in over a decade of my dining experience. After waiting far too long for our drinks, far too long to have our waters filled, far too long for our dinners to be served, our dinners were dropped after coming out of the kitchen. During the next 20 minutes of delay, not one time did anyone come say anything to us expressing any type of apology or offering any type of solution for our next delay. No management, no leadership, a horrible experience.
We went for Father’s Day. They had their regular menu plus a bonus menu for the holiday. In my opinion, the menu was somewhat limited although we all found something we enjoyed. I would have liked to see fewer sandwich options or else more regular entrees. That being said we all enjoyed our meals. Well cooked and the service was really good. Prices were so reasonable, we would try them again.
Ordered Bass . If it was bass it was a slim portion overcooked . The fixings spinach good flavor but not more than a tablespoon and the rice 1/2 a cup if anything. The Mojigos ordered were not at par either . Made reservations there for our 45th anivesary . We had a hard time since I could not be driven to the entrance . Their surrounding property is being paved and I am disabled as of now . The restaurant should have called and alert us of the situation before hand . Thanks to a security guard that requested transportation for us .
Delicious food, great views, super service! A wonderful evening of dining.
Love this restaurant! The food is very good. Especially the Oysters Rockefeller! The ambiance is wonderful. Especially if you can sit outside!
We really enjoyed our meal and the service was terrific!
Nice. Best view in town. Piano music adds to the ambiance. Great food!
Enjoyed our dinner outside while watching gorgeous sunset over water. Our waiter was very attentive and chef was very happy to make special plate for vegan in our party. We all enjoyed our entries and especially enjoyed the Blackened Coconut Salad - a house specialty and very unique.
This was our 65th anniversary and have always come to the Captain's Table for our special times. We were not disappointed. The service, food and atmosphere were excellent as always.
We hope to celebrate my husbands 85th birthday there next February.
We have been there a few times. The food is good, fresh and consistent. Our server was excellent. The captains chowder was very good, garden salad was okay and salmon dinner was good but a little overcooked. My husband had the prime rib special, and it was a large very nice cut of meat. I would go again.
Waterfront dining at the right time after season ended...hardly anyone there...great view from inside as it was raining. Would recommend to others!
Awesome! Great food !
Celebrating a birthday here. The view, our server Melissa, and the food were all WONDERFUL. Only draw back was the drunk guy holding court at a nearby table who sang along with the pianist.
I don't think I have had a better meal in the area. Side salad was huge, steak was tender and done perfectly and the lobster...YUM!
I can't wait to go back next year. And, I was serenaded by the pianist who made my birthday even more memorable.
This was my first visit back there in about a year and a half. Took a friend who had never been. The food was dramatically different, not as good! A lot has changed to make the bar and restaurant nicer.
They must have changed the cook and the menu wasn’t worth the cost any longer. When the waitress said down the dinner plate, she said caution it was hot, ”Wrong”. Mashed potatoes were pasty and cold
It is off season but the staff were very courteous and helpful with ordering and food was wonderful
Drinks were perfect and so was dessert
Thank you to staff at The Captains Table for making our anniversary dinner just perfect
First visit to restaurant for lunch, requested table by the window, table was ready when we arrived, hostess very pleasant. Wait staff very knowledgeable about the menu; and offered suggestions when asked. The grouper sandwich was excellent, bun was toasted and very fresh as was the fish, asked for lightly blackened came out perfect. Friend had fish and chips and her fish was also very fresh and batter was crisp. Overall a very nice experience. Will definitely return.
Reservation was right on time. disappointed our table was next to the service staff rolling silverware. Restaurant was quite empty so other tables could have been offered. Food was top shelf and servers pleasant. The dessert table was a mess very sloppy. The main cakes was so chopped up it was a complete turnoff. There was no one watching the dessert table to check on the condition of the desserts. For this restaurant it was unacceptable. I could see if it was busy but that was not the case. Love this restaurant and have frequented it for 25 years under all owners. I wil be back but not for buffet.
Booked online e. Did not know it was Buffet. Overpriced for what was served.
Mothers Days dissapointment for 6 people. Won’t be going back too soon for that.
Five of us visited for Mother's Day Buffet. The food was excellent with Prime Rib being the favorite. Our service was very good with a very attentive waitress. The food was at the right temperature and presented well. Deserts were delicious with a very nice selection. If not for the
rainy day (spoiled views), the day was perfect. Looking forward to our future visits!
We have once again begun a family tradition, (if 3 years in a row can be a "tradition"), of celebrating Mother's Day at The Captain's Table. The food/buffet is well kept and selections are good and varied. The food is always very well prepared and appealing. Nice views.
Good food, good service, nice atmosphere would do mothers' day brunch again.
Saturday night Mother’s Day celebration. Requested seating outside. It was beautiful. We were at the table for 20 minutes and I had to go ask for service. We finally got someone but she was horrible. It took another 25 minutes to get water. They brought bread before that. And the cocktails...nightmare. They didn’t have the wine we ordered....blah blah blah. It was a comedy of errors. The server was completely overwhelmed. The manager came out and said she was new and many other excuses. Bottom line is it’s Mother’s Day weekend. Be properly staffed. And we were not the only ones. People were leaving. They were clearly under staffed. I have to say enjoy the food there but don’t know if I would ever go back which is a shame because it’s a beautiful place.
I have been going to the Captain's Table, usually 3-4 times a month for a long time. The appearance after the renovation is much more inviting, but the service is not. It is understaffed for the waiters/waitresses and the kitchen. I have seen a couple other comments that have a similar perspective as mine. Our last dinner there, we waited half hour to be seated with reservations and 20 minutes at the table for drinks. Our food took a total of 1:45 minutes out from the time we were seated. I ate clam chowder that was luke warm, a salad with no dressing and other noted problems on food that had been sitting prior to being served. We confronted the assistant manager, (which we felt should have come to our table during that 1:45 minutes) and later the Manager which offered gift certificates and took a large portion off the bill. I think he handled himself well, but my overall feeling is that the without adequate staff and service, I expect a lot more from a place that I would choose to frequent. Hopefully they can correct the noted problems, but I feel the quality of the overall restaurant and service is much less than I had been used to.
Our server was so friendly. She checked on us frequently to see if we needed anything. It was my birthday and she brought me a complenty dessert. We saw an amazing sunset from our table. I really enjoyed my dinner. I would love to go back. It is more expensive than we usually spend but it was well worth it.
Four of us gathered for dinner on a week night recently. We discovered that the restaurant provided access to getting a golf cart ride back to our car...good to know for the future. I had lamb, hubby had a HUGE steak which was beautifully cooked. Our friends also enjoyed their meals. Waitstaff was not only attentive but accommodating. Executive chef stopped by which was a nice touch!
My only suggestion is that you paint or highlight the edges of the steps going in and out of the deck and outside deck as they are not noticeable and I would fear someone not paying attention could hurt themselves.
The ambiance was so relaxing and peaceful with the water views and the piano playing in the background. There was enough space between tables to not feel on top of others. The quality of the food was outstanding; however, for the price the portion sizes (specifically with the fish) were rather small. Unfortunately we waited over 45 minutes to get our food which was incredibly frustrating. Hopefully this is not the normal experience with service, but otherwise this was an excellent place to dine.
Although the food was good the waitress was such a detriment that I cannot recommend this restaurant. Not her fault as it was only her second day and she was 18 with no wait staff ‘shadowing’ her.
Beautiful view, great food & wine. Wonderful service. Definitely will be back.
Food and view are great. Our server, Kayla, was outstanding.
First time here since renovations & I was impressed. Outside view is one of the best in Punta Gorda. The food was very tasty & well presented, & our waitress was efficient. Sangria was refreshing & a good size. Good birthday lunch for our friend. Will be back.
Wonderful setting on the harbor. Great food and drink.
Best crab we had in a long time excellent all crab!
Food and drinks were good, with attentive service. Waterfront dining, and view are fantastic. Indoor and outdoor seating available.
Parking attendant, golf cart rides were spot on.
Last dinner out with friends before heading north
The bar area was updated and beautiful. View, spectacular. Wait staff, very good. Food was good, at best. We would definitely go back, but more for drinks and the atmosphere than food....
Pick the Captain's Table because it was a half way for everyone attending. LOVED IT !!! Food was the best and excellent service. We sat on the outside deck with a spectacular view of the water was an added benefit. Would highly recommend it.
Lovely sitting outside with the delicious sunset margarita and salad. Our server was excellent!
The venue is great, food terrific and service Excellent
What a treat! Fooddelicious, many raves from all 6 people. Lunch had many diff choices and decor had been updated. Atmosphere - calming colors and quiet condusive to talking across table. Of course sunshine and view of water were terrific. We will come again!
