My boyfriend and I decided to celebrate our 3-months and my birthday with Capital Grille, and we’re so glad we did! The server, Joey, was friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. The atmosphere was perfect, and the food was sensational! I wholeheartedly recommend the ribeye with lobster tail, the garlic shrimp, the mashed potatoes, and the filet mignon with wild mushrooms. Thanks again for an excellent experience, and we both look forward to coming back!
Great late lunch place! Service the best!
First time, the food was delicious. I will definitely visit again.
I truly enjoy going to the Capital Grille. The food is excellent and the service is the best in Washington, DC.
Love the Capital Grille. We always try to get Daniel as our server since he makes the whole experience so worth it for us! He is the best!
After almost 25 years, our amazing waiter, Wayne, is still there. That tells you a lot about the place, the history, the high service levels and their dedication to the guest experience.
The staff ‘anticipates’ your needs and is prepared to do what it takes to make you and your party feel like you are the center of attention. Food, of course, is top notch, and the culinary staff of chefs is able to make modifications to your liking. I go every time I am in town, and I am never let down.
It was great!
Vina, Akeem and the Rest team are the best!
Incredible meal to celebrate a birthday. Our waiter made the night even more special with his attention to detail & service.
Brought my daughters to Capital Grille while visiting Washington D.C., great food, great service, excellent ambiance.
Every single thing that I ate was phenomenal. The atmosphere, the service, and the food was absolutely outstanding. Can not wait to come back to this location in DC one day!
Overall pleasant experience- the wine selection was top notch, the meal recommendations were perfect, and the service was wonderful. I highly recommend making this restaurant to anyone visiting Washington DC.
The food and service at the bar was great, no issues.
My issue was with the host team. I reserved a table for two and arrived about 30 minutes early to be told the table wasn’t ready- ok no problem (the restaurant was not full as this was after the lunch crowd and before dinner). I sat at the bar for a bit and then went to the front to check on my table and there seemed to be some confusion as to what I was asking about- is my table for two at 1:30pm reservation ready? After some misunderstandings, we were escorted to our table. When we asked if we could sit sit at the empty tables near the bar, it was no problem (same tables that had been empty since we arrived.
Meal and wait staff were fine. I can only imagine what the place is like when you have a large crowd for dinner
Our waiter, Akim, is an outstanding professional who, even during the very busy lunch hour, was attentive to the details of great service. We mentioned that we were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and, VOILA! at the end of our meal, he presented a delightful dessert on an anniversary plate.
The food is very good...perhaps a sauce or sour cream with the strip steak would have enhanced its flavor but it was cooked exactly as we wanted it. The sides we chose (mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts) were good but I don't think they should be priced separately. The steak is pretty bare when presented with no veg accompaniment.
It was, however, a really good anniversary lunch.
The Capitol Grill is great spot for executive lunches and celebrations with friends, family and colleagues. The service is spectacular along with ambiance, although I personally prefer more natural lighting when dining, this did not deter me from having a wonderful experience. I frequent the Capitol Grill in years past and forgotten how fantastic this restaurant is. Thank you!
Excellent service and wonderful food in terrific restaurant.
Excellent! Everything was so fresh, the waiter was spectacular, the steaks all perfectly cooked!
Food was outstanding! Service was fantastic. Everything from reception, to coat check-in, to great meal service, everything was amazing! Our waiter, Joey, gave great meal recommendations. Food was as great as the service! For a great service guarantee, ask for Joey!
Our waiter Jared was amazing and very nice! He worked with us and made sure we had an amazing time! We celebrated a friends birthday and he made sure we enjoyed! Can’t wait to return!
Whenever I’m in a city with a Capital Grille, I stop in. The food and ambiance are amazing (as is the bill frequently), the service is great. Love love love
Great hostess. Smiling! Great service. Smiling! Great food! Sat at window and seats were warm and we watched dc outside.
Cliff was awesome
Requested a quiet table due to a hearing difficulty, and waited a couple of minutes at the bar as we had arrived early. The house Cab Sauvignon was excellent! The two of us were given a very quiet circular table - perfect for us. We both ordered the steak salad - iceberg was provided due to the romaine issue. Lunch was fantastic, unobtrusively served and well presented.
Lovely time, as always. Great food and amazing service. Eric and Kara took wonderful care of us!
Great food and service for a special occasion.
Took my girlfriend here for her bday and they were nice enough to decorate the table and include a nice dessert on the house. My only complaint was how rare the wagyu steak was. Asked for medium rare, but came out very rare and not warm in the middle. But, great place overall!
Food was, of course, great! Next time I know to ask NOT to be seated facing the kitchen. Nobody, paying that kind of $, should be seated next to the kitchen. They should not have tables literally next to the kitchen, in my opinion.
Had a reservation for Thanksgiving dinner that we arrived 10 mins early for. Were told it would be a few minutes and we could get a drink at the bar. ($62 for 2 glasses of wine and a mixed drink). After 15 mins we inquired about our table and were told people were lingering because it was a holiday but would only be about 15 more minutes. 20 mins later we inquired again and were told they over booked and it would be a few more minutes and were offered complimentary drinks. Our reservation was at 7:45pm, we weren't seated until 8:35PM. We ordered the Thanksgiving meal, which was very good. But had to ask for bread, which was given to everyone around us but not us and had to ask for gravy 2x. I understand it was a busy day and night but that doesn't mean clients should be neglected.
We had to rush through our meal and dessert because my son had a train to catch and we had to wait almost an hour to be seated. Like I said, I understand it was a holiday but a restaurant like this should not over book and should be able to honor reservations within a reasonable time. The hostess and staff all appeared overwhelmed.
We had a reservation for 7:30. Got a table at 8:23. No apology either.
We had a fantastic Thanksgiving dinner at The Capital Grille. We have been to another location in the past and we wanted to ensure a fantastic dining experience for our special holiday meal while visiting DC. It did not disappoint. Our waiter Bill was fantastic. He made a wine for selection for us which was outstanding. Would not hesitate to dine here again our at any of their locations.
One of the best ribeyes I’ve ever had, BUT we weren’t seated until over 30 min after our reservation, slow (albeit nice/polite) service. Rest of food was good, but nothing spectacular. Overall, would try somewhere different next time.
Steaks were over cooked.
Service was perfect, although slowed down considerably when a large group arrived and seated near us. The NY strip was very dry and not very palatable. Ordered medium and bright pink center, but too dry to enjoy. Another in our party ordered porterhouse. It was much tastier and juicy. All sides were delicious.
First time there, enjoyed the food and the energy and staff. Great way to soend Thanksgiving
The one thing that absolutely stood out for me was the impeccable service. My nephew and I had Thanksgiving dinner here and our waiter was fantastic. He anticipated our every need without hovering over us. Our meal was perfection, we both ordered the roasted chicken along with the lobster mac & cheese (to die for) and the spinach. The portions were generous, we both took home leftovers and ordered dessert to go. I found them a little pricey, but would definitely recommend. It's a great place for a romantic date or for a celebratory meal.
The service we received from Pam Araiza was amazing! Can't wait to see her again!
Our turkey dinners were delicious, as was my glass of Malbec. The person who had French onion soup and a salad said they were both awful - but I'm not all that sure he'd know. Very nice Thanksgiving, but pretty expensive.
We had our Thanksgiving meal here for the second year in a row. The food, service and overall atmosphere never disappoints!
