The Capital Grille - Troy Ratings and Reviews
Let me start off by saying that our meal was fantastic and everything went perfectly!
We originally had earlier reservations but had to push them back not once but twice due to car issues. After a long week and a particularly long day, we were really looking forward to a great night together. Forrest was amazing and made sure that our night turned around for the better! He took his time with us, offered wonderful suggestions (which my partner really enjoyed), and was just an overall pleasant and professional young man. I had the tenderloin with lobster tails and my partner chose Forrest’s suggestion of lamb chops with balsamic on them and she LOVED them. I have been to The Capital Grille in Chicago before and was blown away by my experience there - I am happy to say that I feel the same way about the Troy location!
We had a special occasion I requested a dessert after dinner with happy anniversary message on the Dish but sadly didn’t happen the sever or the host never mentioned anything about it .. they asked us for dessert which I didn’t wanna make it obvious in front of my lady so we just picked a random dessert from the menu ..
Dinner selection item was not prepared correctly. Missing a listed item. Anther menu item did have a listed item as well. Atmosphere was fine until the table of 4 loud drunk people were seated next to us. Very very loud, putting lobster head shells on head and then taking pictures, laughing .Not the restaurant to be doing that if any restaurant is good. Been here lots before and never had listed menu items missing after the food was delivered and definitely never had such bad patron issues. Was disappointed.
Shannon can not be given the title “server”. She was nothing shy of a professional dining host, and her service, vibrant personality and knowledge of the menu was absolutely remarkable and made for the best dining experience I’ve had in a decade, the former being the same restaurant.
Thank you very much for the wonderful time, we will be back, this time less than a decade.
Food was good, but not outstanding. Wife likes her steak a shade above medium - she asked the server if she could get medium-plus and got a ‘no’. She ordered medium-well and her filet came out thoroughly well done. A while later someone at the table next to us ordered a steak at an in-between doneness and the same server didn’t say a word - either she didn’t understand what my wife meant by medium-plus and didn’t care to ask, or she just wanted to placate the guy at the next table. Either way, somebody wasn’t getting their steak the way they wanted.
Always a great meal at Capital Grille. This night was no exception, with excellent food (one steak had to go back, but not a big deal) and great service. One issue. Six of us were crammed at a small table just inside the wine room. There was not enough room between tables and the servers/staff kept bumping my chair. Need to find a way to spread out that area!
The food and staff were great as always. My husband and I have dined here a few times and always had an excellent experience - 5 stars across the board. So we decided to bring our family for my Mother-in-law's birthday. We were seated in extremely tight quarters in the Wine Room, which I believe was way over-seated...so much so that the person at the next table backed their chair into mine, and there were several times that a server or member of the wait staff would graze the back of my head or shoulder when trying to squeeze through. I didn't want to cause a disruption by asking to be seated at a different table, because it was a Saturday night at 7:30pm and the restaurant was incredibly busy. The Wine Room was also uncomfortably hot, as all 5 of the guests at our table agreed. We will return again, but will always request to be seated at a booth in the main dining area.
one of my favorite places to go. very nice wine selection. steaks were done to perfection. The garlic shrimp appetizer was served a bit cold and we found it to be flavorless.....but that was only negative. service was very attentive without being smothering.
Where do I begin?! This probably was one of the worst dining experiences my husband and I have had in awhile. First we made a reservation for 5:45 with 2 other friends so a total of 4. My husband and I arrived at 5:47. No one offered to check our coat, then when we checked in the woman at the front desk told us it would be about 15 mins... so I happened to check my phone to see our other 2 guest had already been sat down. So we made our way to the back of the building to see our friends. We then take our seats and are greeted by our waitress who asked what we wanted to drink.. we all just had water.. so she still has yet to bring my husband and I a menu to look at.. so we have to use are friends menus.. she then takes our orders and rushes us through it.. she keeps stepping in my foot every time she reaches across me. The food was horrible. I can only speak for my husband and I dinner. We both had the French onion soup witch they broiled the hell out of it to where the cheese was so burnt it was in edible.. had no flavor, was just plain and no good. Then on to the main course. I had the 10 oz fillet Mignon medium well and it was so under seasoned! I didn’t even want to eat it! My husband had the rib-eye medium well and his mite as well had been pot roast! It was drier than the Sahara desert! To say the least we will won’t be driving an hour again to dine there!
We celebrated our wedding anniversary and upon arrival at the table, they had a card waiting along with the table being sprinkled with hearts & miscellaneous confetti. They also brought us an anniversary dessert. Shannon was very attentive to us. Food was beyond excellent. Usually a medium well filet is burnt on the edges - not this time! The only thing that was not fun was that we were seated in the back along with a birthday party of 12 or so and 2 young children. Usually not an issue but both adults and kids alike were constantly out of their seats walking around, standing by the table which meant in the walk area, going up and down the aisle, etc. and since we were facing them, it was hard to ignore. It would have been better if they had been seated in a private area.
