The Capital Grille - Troy Ratings and Reviews
Wife birthday, everything was excellent Phil Rumley, service was the best I’ve ever had. My job allows me to dine all over the country at 5 star restaurants but people make it special....the service from the time we step in the door until we left was outstanding!
I have been to countless Capital Grille locations across the U.S. Additionally I frequented the Troy location at least twice a month when I lived in West Bloomfield, MI (8 years ago). The recent meal I had in Troy was the worst I ever experienced. The aging of the steak was totally wrong causing the flavor to be nasty (Capital Grille does not use “Prime” beef). Additionally, they burnt my appetizer. I expect a lot more from such a high-priced dining venue.
When we walked into the restaurant the lady upfront asked if we had a special occasion and I told her that my fiancé and I are celebrating our 6th year anniversary. We waited for a minute then were brought to a booth. I was impressed by how romantic it was. Rose petals along the center of the table with little confetti hearts and stars and a happy anniversary letter at the side. Our waitress was the best we’ve ever had. I ordered the pan-seared scallops. I’ve had better tasting scallops But overall not too bad. At the end our waitress brought over a dessert with chocolate cake, ice cream, berries, and champagne for us to celebrate. We were both impressed and loved the whole experience. We will be back.
We dined at Capital Grille celebrating two wedding anniversaries. Our Daughter & Son-in-laws 24th wedding anniversary and my wife and myself 48th. At the end of our dinner...As a surprise to us, Capital Grille delivered a happy anniversary desert to our table. It was an extra desert as we had already ordered deserts. We thanked the server for the thoughtfulness of Capital Grille and for the anniversary desert. A little while later a Happy Birthday desert was delivered to our table with our server telling us that it was left over. When paying my bill at the end of the evening...the two extra deserts...what I thought were gifts...we were charged for both of them. I paid the bill and nothing was said to our server by me as I didn't want to make an issue during our celebration. However, in all of my years of dinning, I have never been charged for a desert that was not asked for...Or...for a desert that was presented as a gift from the establishment. There are plenty of other good steak houses in the area. So I will make it my point not to return or recommend Capital Grille. On another note of disappointment; My after dinner Cognac was served in a shot glass not a brandy snifter. A restaurant of the Capital Grille caliber should know the correct serving vessel.
We were annoyed at first, because we had 6:45 reservations and had to wait in a really crowded lobby for 25 minutes for our table. But, once we were seated, the service and the food were EXCELLENT. Dessert was great, too. The creme brulee was one of the best I've had, and I've had a lot of them! The lobster mac and cheese my daughter had was delicious, as well. For dinner, I had the grouper fish special and it was amazing!
The service and food were great, as always. Forrest was our server and took really good care of us, per usual.
We had a reservation for 6:15, but didn't get seated until 6:50. It was a busy night and the front end staff was quite busy, so we were patient. Part of my frustrations come with being told different things as to why we were waiting so long.
Once seated, the experience was better.
Jessica was our server. Excellent personality, very service oriented and wanted to please and made excellent recommendations. Had the hamburger with Parmesan fried which was small but was of good quality. Coconut cream pie was just ok, more cream than a pie that you would expect.
We made a reservation for our anniversary. When we arrived to the table there were scattered roses and table glitter with a Happy Anniversary card. Our waiter, Phil, was super attentive and efficient. Food was amazing as always. At the end of the meal, he brought a complimentary dessert for us to wish us a Happy Anniversary. We LOVED the extra attention and now my 10 year old wants to celebrate her birthday here.!
Thank you for a memorable evening!
Went for son's birthday and were seated on time and the waiter was knowledgeable of the menu and attentive. The table had birthday confetti and a card when we were seated. The porterhouse was ordered by all and cooked to perfection! All sides, salad and lobster bisque were awesome! To top it off, a complimentary birthday dessert tray was served. Will definitely return when in the area.
Went here again to celebrate my wife's birthday. Have been here numerous times in the past and always had good experiences. The waiter was very good and was mostly there when we needed him (he ended up getting quite busy halfway in) and was a good relaxing pace from cocktails to dessert. To start I had the lobster bisque and my wife had the Michigan salad. The bisque had a lot of lobster meat, probably the most I have ever seen, and was excellent. The salad was also fresh and very good. We both had 10 oz. filets with a few side dishes. The steaks were cooked perfect and melt in your mouth tender, as would be expected. The soy glazed brussel sprouts were really tasty, though maybe slightly too well done, but only slightly. After finishing our meal and getting our cappuccino's, the waiter also brought over a birthday dessert for two (without asking), which was "on the house". So overall was another excellent experience; we were very satisfied and will definitely dine there again.
First time dining at capital grille. First of all we were seated promptly at the time of our reservations. We were personally greeted by name by our waiter rehman which was one of the nicest personal touches I've ever experienced at a restaurant. Rehman recommended a white wine called king Crawford that was very good. We got the lobster crab cakes that were decadent for an app. My wife got the scallops and I got the bone in filet. Both were exquisite. As a side we got the Brussels sprouts which were delicious. For desert we got the coconut cream pie that was outstanding. This was one of the best experiences I've had at a fine dining restaurant. The service by rehman was honestly the best I've ever had. When I go back to capital grille I will be requesting him because he made what had been a good experience into a great one! Thanks rehman!
Every time I book this restaurant with open table they stick us in a back room and not the main room. It's as if these customers are unimportant. They sat us and the table was not set. It was for birthday and while we sat there they threw the birthday decorations on the table and set the table for the correct amount of people. Somehow that set the tone. And when you spend $300 for dinner you expect more. Our waiter was great but not enough to make me want to take guests there again.
