We got there early for our reservation but waited at least 10 minutes with two young kids near the front door because the hostess was preoccupied looking for the other hostess. While waiting with our kids my wife noticed at least 5 available tables within eyesight.
Additionally, a couple walked in while we were waiting and were seated almost immediately even though they did not have a reservation.
That being said, I expect my reservation to be honored and do not appreciate being made to wait for no good reason other than an inattentive hostess who barely made eye contact with us.
Service was good but food was only average which is not acceptable for the prices this restaurant charges.
Think twice before booking this restaurant. Providence has many great restaurants... Just our opinion

I can't say enough positive things about The Capital Grille. The food, the service, our waiter, Art, all outstanding. It's definitely a special occasion place, but we thoroughly enjoyed it.

the steak dishes are the best I have ever had and the fire and ice tequila mixed drink was delicious. The wait staff and the ambience was wonderful. I would recommend the Capital Grille for any special occasion.

We celebrated my sister's 50th birthday. The hostess helped with the surprise by stating, "party for 4?" even though the reservation was for 11 people (the rest were waiting at the table). The food was amazing and our waiter, Joe, was superb which made the evening that much more fun. Thank you Capital Grille for such a perfect evening!

Tonight was amazing as always but Art really made our night special, it was our first date night out together in two months since we had our baby girl and as sad as I was to leave her with my parents my wife and I had a beautiful night out. Thank you for always making your guest feel special.

Wonderful Valentine’s Day dinner with my wife. Bone in rib-eye was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Smashed potatoes are always excellent. My favorite dessert on the menu, Seasonal Berries with cream.

We had not been to the Capital Grille in years, and we had a very pleasurable experience. The ambiance is beautiful. Our waiter, Matt, was very attentive. We even met the the manager, Bobby, who was very hospitable. The food was very good, and so were the cocktails. The only drawback was the small table in which we were seated. Bobby explained they had to rent more tables because it was very close to Valentine's day. We found the tables very small (they were actually small round folding tables). They were a little uncomfortable, but we understood the situation, and will definitely return. Our meals were cooked perfectly, and we loved the bread basket with a nice variety of which to choose.

Birthday celebration for our 18 year old son. Food and server were excellent. Complimentary dessert was very nice. When we were paying the bill the waiter took our valet ticket and said the car would be ready when we got outside. We paid and went to the rest room before going out. It was a cold night and our car was not ready. We waited over 10 minutes for the car. The attendants outside were apologetic but it was a long wait in the cold. Other than that it was a perfect night

Dined at the bar because of the ambiance. The restaurant and the bar was not crowded. There were 3 bartenders taking care of approximately 12 patrons at the bar. The service was poor to say the least.

I would not recommend this restaurant unless you want to overpay for average food and risk having your car damaged by the valet staff. We had a 7PM reservation but were not seated until around 7:30. The ambience and decor in the bar was very nice and the bartender was very accommodating. Our waiter was very professional and personable. I asked him for a recommendation for a bone in steak and went with what he suggested. When the steak arrived it was a boneless cut. They offered to take it back but we did not want my wife's meal getting cold or sitting under a heat lamp so I just kept it. When her lamb came out it did not have the side sauce that was supposed to come with it. When you pay the prices they charge you do not expect to have these issues. When we got into our car the next morning there was a large scrape across the right fender. It was dark and raining when we left so we never saw it the night before. We had purchased the car that afternoon. There was no other time that it could have been damaged except while it was under their care but they would not take responsibility. Lastly we received a survey form from the general manager Chris asking us to review our restaurant experience. I detailed all of the above issues and sent a second email but have never heard back from him. There are plenty of wonderful restaurants in Providence with great ambience at half the cost so this will definitely be our last time to the Capital Grille.

Went during restaurant week. Everything was perfect...can never go wrong at Cap Grille. No need to review the food and drink items...always outstanding. My only comment is that the Cap Grille continues to provide some value in it's restaurant week offerings. You get a deal here. What started years ago as an opportunity to try new places during a slow period of the year with discount pricing as the inducement, has evolved into a marketing gimmick characterized by ever fewer choices of lower cost menu items (chicken, pasta, salmon, pork) that represent no real bargain to the consumer. You'll pay, what you always pay at most places. I recommend the Capital Grille always...but even more so during restaurant week!
