The Capital Grille - Providence Ratings and Reviews
Tonight was amazing as always but Art really made our night special, it was our first date night out together in two months since we had our baby girl and as sad as I was to leave her with my parents my wife and I had a beautiful night out. Thank you for always making your guest feel special.
We had not been to the Capital Grille in years, and we had a very pleasurable experience. The ambiance is beautiful. Our waiter, Matt, was very attentive. We even met the the manager, Bobby, who was very hospitable. The food was very good, and so were the cocktails. The only drawback was the small table in which we were seated. Bobby explained they had to rent more tables because it was very close to Valentine's day. We found the tables very small (they were actually small round folding tables). They were a little uncomfortable, but we understood the situation, and will definitely return. Our meals were cooked perfectly, and we loved the bread basket with a nice variety of which to choose.
Birthday celebration for our 18 year old son. Food and server were excellent. Complimentary dessert was very nice. When we were paying the bill the waiter took our valet ticket and said the car would be ready when we got outside. We paid and went to the rest room before going out. It was a cold night and our car was not ready. We waited over 10 minutes for the car. The attendants outside were apologetic but it was a long wait in the cold. Other than that it was a perfect night
I would not recommend this restaurant unless you want to overpay for average food and risk having your car damaged by the valet staff. We had a 7PM reservation but were not seated until around 7:30. The ambience and decor in the bar was very nice and the bartender was very accommodating. Our waiter was very professional and personable. I asked him for a recommendation for a bone in steak and went with what he suggested. When the steak arrived it was a boneless cut. They offered to take it back but we did not want my wife's meal getting cold or sitting under a heat lamp so I just kept it. When her lamb came out it did not have the side sauce that was supposed to come with it. When you pay the prices they charge you do not expect to have these issues. When we got into our car the next morning there was a large scrape across the right fender. It was dark and raining when we left so we never saw it the night before. We had purchased the car that afternoon. There was no other time that it could have been damaged except while it was under their care but they would not take responsibility. Lastly we received a survey form from the general manager Chris asking us to review our restaurant experience. I detailed all of the above issues and sent a second email but have never heard back from him. There are plenty of wonderful restaurants in Providence with great ambience at half the cost so this will definitely be our last time to the Capital Grille.
Went during restaurant week. Everything was perfect...can never go wrong at Cap Grille. No need to review the food and drink items...always outstanding. My only comment is that the Cap Grille continues to provide some value in it's restaurant week offerings. You get a deal here. What started years ago as an opportunity to try new places during a slow period of the year with discount pricing as the inducement, has evolved into a marketing gimmick characterized by ever fewer choices of lower cost menu items (chicken, pasta, salmon, pork) that represent no real bargain to the consumer. You'll pay, what you always pay at most places. I recommend the Capital Grille always...but even more so during restaurant week!
We dined on a Wednesday night - the food was excellent, the service was over the top. Thank you to Joe Macleod, our waiter for an extremely enjoyable night from the time we sat down till getting our car from valet. Joe was very attentive, knowledgeable and made our evening most enjoyable. We will be requesting Joe on our next visit and have told everyone to go visit Joe!
We arrived with 8 of us for our 30th anniversary and we were seated in the back room, very nice for our occasion. We took advantage of restaurant week and had a fabulous (as usual) meal and dessert. Our waiter was new to us, and he was prompt, efficient, and friendly.
Restaurant Week gives folks the opportunity to try places they haven't been before for possible return at a later date. After trying out the Capitol Grille along with the other top rated steak house across the street, the other one wins the day. We will go back there.
The steak was OK, not the quality I would have expected and it was served on a plain white plate with a sprig of watercress. I guess presentation isn't a big thing here. Also, the wine list was presented on an iPad! Aside from electronics feeling very out of place in a classy restaurant, the illumination level was high and grating.
Our server was very efficient, but was not one for making any effort to sustain a conversation. I got the feeling that since we were there for the special prix fixe menu that we weren't quite up to the standard he was used to. The feeling across the street was totally different where they were warm and welcoming as well as friendly. The comparison made, we know where to return for special occasions. Not the Capitol Grille.
Disappointed in restaurant week meal. Cut-rate cafeteria meal reeking of corporate decisions. Not a meal to highlight the restaurant and make my family want to return. It was cheap and ordinary, and I pictured a large vat of mashed potatoes and green beans in the kitchen.
