The Capital Grille - Providence Ratings and Reviews
I took my staff out for a post holiday luncheon. They worked very hard in 2017 so I really want to treat them to a lovely lunch. I have taken previous staff to The Capital Grille at your original location across the street and expected the same high quality food. Unfortunately, no one was impressed with their food and I ended up taking home some of the tough outer pieces of my filet for my dogs. My bill was close to $200 which did include drinks however, we were disappointed in the quality of the food for the price.
For a change, I did not have steak during this visit, instead choosing a new swordfish entree they had on the menu. It was probably the best cooked swordfish I have ever had! Don't be afraid to choose something other than their famous steaks. .. it is all amazing!
We had a group of five for dinner. Everything was delightful, from our cocktails, appetizers, dinner and desserts. Our waiter was Kyle Mitchell. He was attentive, gracious and treated us like old friends.
We will be back to enjoy the fine food here again soon.
What can I say, another fantastic meal. The Porcini rubbed steak was awesome. We also had the Filet Oscar and the Sliced Filet with Cipollini Onions. All three meals were terrific. If you go you have to ask for Eric. He is the best!!! The entire staff is wonderful.
We brought our son here as a 21st birthday celebration. Food was terrific as expected but we didn't expect the way the restaurant made my son feel very special, from a champagne toast to a special dessert to a pair of champagne flutes. A special shout out to Tiana, our server, who was friendly and extremely professional. Truly a memorable night. Thank you!
Our experience was fantastic this evening. We started off at the bar and grabbed a couple of drinks that were delicious. Then we were seated and our server was incredible. Our server was very knowledgeable about my wife’s celiac status and really made sure nothing was cross contaminated. This is huge for her and I really appreciated the attention to detail. Our steaks were over cooked and he refused to let us keep them. He had the kitchen redo the steaks and sides to perfection. Our food was beyond delicious. The steaks were incredible, the lobster was delicious, and the sides were perfect companions. Our server also went the extra mile and got us a dessert to apologize for the overcooked steaks. He had already more than made up for it before this, but he wanted to ensure we enjoyed every second of our dining experience. Overall, I would recommend the Capital Grille to all. It is well worth every penny and perfect for any occasion. Thank you for a great evening!
We went on New Years Eve for an early dinner. We had trouble getting to the valet parking. Was told to go into the adjacent parking garage and give the parking ticket to be validated when paying the dinner bill. We did that and was told by our waiter that the process had changed. We went outside to request our car and was told to walk back to the parking garage and get our car and ticket validated. It was a bit inconvenient for me since I have multiple sclerosis and have difficulty walking and standing for extended periods of time. We finally got our car, the valets validated our parking ticket, and we proceeded to exit the garage. The ticket was not validated correctly and we ended up having to pay for the parking with a credit card before being allowed to exit. The entire experience was very inconvenient and did not make a pleasant dining experience for us. My husband said he does not want to eat at the Capital Grille again.
Our second visit to CG Providence was as good as the first. We were treated to perfectly cooked steaks, and fantastic stuffed and desserts. We greatly enjoyed the time between courses. Our waiter, Ken, was persinable, and checked on us often, but didn't rush us at all. It was an outstanding evening of fine dining and worth the cost.
Both food and service was outstanding.Great wine. Steaks were cooked to perfection, Accommodated special requests. Calamari was delicious and the dessert were a perfect ending. Service was excellent, extremely knowledgeable, never felt rushed. While expensive, it so well worth it!!!
Food and service were excellent. Wine list is superb. Only criticism is that the table was close to the kitchen area and the noise level was elevated by noise from kitchen and kitchen staff. Will definitely return and ask for table in area away from kitchen.
Very big birthday celebration made extra special by Capital Grille with sparkling wine toast to start and ending with a happy birthday dessert plate. Also welcomed with a nice birthday wish note from the restaurant. Smoked salmon apertif a nice start. Caesar salad nicely split for us to share, on well chilled plates. Double lamb chops cooked to perfection and such a large portion that took another meal home. Sirloin also cooked to perfection and lsrge enough to take some home. Brought our own wine from home, which was nicely decanted for us. Thank you to the waitstaff for such a memorable evening.
Excellent food and service. Our last experience here was not great! Our waiter Ian and his team were wonderful and very attentive. We never felt rushed or ignored as we did on our last visit. I am glad we gave it another try. Our anniversary/birthday celebration was perfect! Thanks, we will be back!
