The Capital Grille - Providence Ratings and Reviews
I was absolutely embarassed by the management of this restaurant. We requested an outdoor table prior to the Saturday WaterFire. I received a confirmation call on Friday evening at 5:33 PM that we would be dining on the patio as requested. When my party arrived we kept waiting 15 minutes until the manager showed us to an indoor table. When I told him I received confirmation of our patio reservation he stated he could offer us a window table but the patio tables were all reserved. He did not even acknowledge that I had received a call confirming our pation reservation the evening before. I have never been more embarassed before a group at any restaurant. Not to mention this left a bad taste in my mouth to start the night.
The food was excellent although a bit pricey, this was offset a bit by the Generous Pour a wine promotion offering 7 different 90 point plus wines for $28 PP. This promotion continues into September.
Our group also commented on the disappearance of our waiter about mid-meal. This too has not been my experience at the Capital Grille in the past as the service is usually one of the best that we have experienced.
Normally the restaurant requests that I complete an online survey after I dine there. They did not this time - I think they know my opinion already. It is also the reason I will not be going back in the near future and would recommend the that all of my friends avoid dining at The Capital Grille until they get their act together.
Consistently excellent as always. Food is outstanding and service is impeccable. Great place to go on a WaterFire night. Valet park, enjoy dinner, and then walk around the basin at Waterplace Park. Highlights were King Crab Legs, French Onion Soup, Bone-In Kona Strip Steak, and Coconut Dessert.
I brought a few colleagues to the Capital Grille for a nice dinner out. We also took advantage of the summer wine event, the Generous Pour. As usual, the Capital Grille did not disappoint. Amazing food and wine, and still the best service in town. Can't wait for my next return visit.
It was our first time trying The Capital Grille and it was amazing! I appreciate that they took time to add some decorative things to the table since we were celebrating my boyfriends birthday. Our server was also really great and attentive, but not overbearing. Food was amazing! Best clam chowder I've had in New England. And I would highly suggest the salmon with citrus and brown sugar.
Hands down, probably the best restaurant I've been to in Providence.
Providence is so easy to travel to. And the Capial Grill is in the center of it all. Great food, stunning atmosphere and the staff was on point from the valet to the kitchen. We came on
Restaurant week so the price was excellent. Had strip steaks with herb butter, garlic mashed and prefectly seasoned green beans. OH was it tasty !!! A must try in my book.
Despite waiting a half hour when we originally booked a reservation, it was a busy week as the restaurant deal was phenomenal. Nevertheless, food and service was outstanding and their filet mignon put a smile on my face. Portions were perfect and my boyfriend and I felt like royalty.
Had to wait thirty five minutes for table and no seats at bar so we had to stand which was difficult because we sre older Sat and had to wait thirty minutes for our waiter to take a drink order I liked this restaurant but it was a horrible i have to think before i would go back soon
Took advantage of restaurant week specials. Everything was superb. I had the 14 ounce strip steak and my boyfriend had the filet with shrimp. Both entrees were perfectly cooked and the shared vegetables were excellent. We both decided we were too full for dessert but couldn't resist it after all. Again, excellent and perfect portions after such a full meal. Our server was friendly and personable. A memorable experience will definitley go back.
We went for restaurant week and so the portions were smaller, which was to be expected. My filet was rare and I ordered medium, my husband's strip steak was well done and he ordered rare. So we switched our meals. It was still good but not the meal we each ordered.
The sides were too small for two but we had enough to eat so not a big deal.
The waiter was excellent and very attentive. I would not have been happy, however, if we had to pay full price.
It was our first time at The Capital Grille. Food was absolutely delicious. Our steaks were cooked to perfection. Highly recommend the flourless chocolate cake. It's to die for. Service was excellent! It is a pricey restaurant, but wonderful for special occasions. Mark was our waiter and he was awesome!
My significant other and I went to The Capital Grille for Restaurant Week to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. While it's ordinarily on the pricey side, we had a wonderful three-course meal with wine and a generous tip for $120! The dry-aged New York strip was quite possibly the best steak I have ever had, and my SO's citrus glazed salmon was amazing as well. They even made a special plate for our desserts; cheesecake with berries and a flourless chocolate torte. Mark was an amazing server, and made sure all our needs were met.
This was definitely a night to remember; I highly recommend it!
We had a gift card and it was restaurant week and our anniversary. The stars aligned! We have not been since it moved to new location. It is very upscale and bright and airy. The service is outstanding. They put a nice note card and table scatter on our table for our anniversary. We did take advantage of the pre fixe dinners which had 3 courses. My first was chowder and it was just ok. Hubby's wedge salad with bacon and blue cheese better. Both the filet and salmon were very good along with the sides. The deserts although mini versions..were spectacular! It was a nice special night out made affordable by above...but otherwise would not be in the budget for us. If you travel in those circles I am sure it is quite enjoyable...especially if you dine outside on a beautiful summer evening.
Had such promise, but being understaffed really dampened the experience. Beautiful restaurant and great location, strong yet pricey food options (fully expected), but bottom line is if you are spending $200.00 on a meal for two... the service MUST be impeccable, let alone "fair". Young lady tried her hardest and was very pleasant, but just too many tables to handle so had to "wait" on a number of occasions. Sadly will have to think hard before special occasion return, as service was such a disappointment.
Unfortunately restaurant week is crazy at some restaurants, and tonight was no exception. Our waiter was condescending at times and really put a damper on an otherwise fun night. Great bottle of wine. Lobster bisque wonderful, wedge salad a very small dish! The steaks were cooked to perfection but were cold by the time they arrived. That plus no sign of the waiter to bring fresh cracked pepper. Very small sides (mashed potatoes and string beans) to share plus the string beans were cold and overcooked. Might try again when it's not restaurant week.
