The Capital Grille - Providence Ratings and Reviews
First time dining at the Providence location and had an exceptional experience for our 25th Anniversary. Fantastic service from our primary server, Joe M, and superb food from appetizers to dessert. Try the prosciutto and calamari appetizers for a great start. Filet Mignon and scallops were cooked well and very tasty. Our dessert was on the house for ou anniversary. Great dinning experience!!
From the friendly hostess greeting, through the professional and knowledgeable wait staff, to the great valet parking guys, it was all completely well done! Classic Capital Grille treatment and perfectly prepared food, you never fail us and we appreciate it.
Lovely canal side location in Providence. Window seat for us with short notice. Food get good - one of the best fried calamari we had this year and three out of four steaks were very good. Oysters had plenty of flavour but could use some de-sanding. Service could be more attentive
This was our second visit to The Capitol Grille for the annual Generous Pour. We'd asked for a booth in the back, where we thought it would be quieter, and it was, until later in the evening when nearby parties showed up. The food was excellent, as always - I had the Seared Scallops with Mushroom Risotto to go with the whites I was drinking while the remaining members of our party all had filet mignon. Though the waiter warned us that the sides would feed 2 people, they really were enough for the 4 of us. We've had friendlier, more personable waiters at the restaurant, but the service could not be faulted.
We visited for dinner on a Sunday evening and it was surprising to see the restaurant 3/4 full. The service here is by the book and I love it almost as much as the food! The steak, salad and sides were outstanding. Sure, it's expensive but worth every dollar.
With our son attending College in Providence, we have started a tradition to start and end the school year with a dinner at Capital Grille Providence. For 3 years now, without fail Capital Grille Providence has delivered excellent and friendly service but most importantly sumptuous food. We look forward to celebrating at Capital Grille.
My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary, and we were so pleased with the overall experience. There were roses on our table with a special hand written note on it. The chairs were placed next to each other instead of across from each other. The waiter was so patient with us and explained anything on the menu to us. He brought us a sample of this mashed potato thing (sooo good). And we got a free desert platter that said Happy Anniversary. It's very expensive here but I think it's great for special occasions. I would definitely go back.
We reserved a table, ended up sitting at the bar which we enjoy more. Service was fabulous. But as it got later, the bartender S started to forget about us. Asked for a dessert menu but it took them a 1/2 hour to come back to us. By then we didn't want it anymore. That was disappointing. Food was phenomenal!!!!
I was absolutely embarassed by the management of this restaurant. We requested an outdoor table prior to the Saturday WaterFire. I received a confirmation call on Friday evening at 5:33 PM that we would be dining on the patio as requested. When my party arrived we kept waiting 15 minutes until the manager showed us to an indoor table. When I told him I received confirmation of our patio reservation he stated he could offer us a window table but the patio tables were all reserved. He did not even acknowledge that I had received a call confirming our pation reservation the evening before. I have never been more embarassed before a group at any restaurant. Not to mention this left a bad taste in my mouth to start the night.
The food was excellent although a bit pricey, this was offset a bit by the Generous Pour a wine promotion offering 7 different 90 point plus wines for $28 PP. This promotion continues into September.
Our group also commented on the disappearance of our waiter about mid-meal. This too has not been my experience at the Capital Grille in the past as the service is usually one of the best that we have experienced.
Normally the restaurant requests that I complete an online survey after I dine there. They did not this time - I think they know my opinion already. It is also the reason I will not be going back in the near future and would recommend the that all of my friends avoid dining at The Capital Grille until they get their act together.
Consistently excellent as always. Food is outstanding and service is impeccable. Great place to go on a WaterFire night. Valet park, enjoy dinner, and then walk around the basin at Waterplace Park. Highlights were King Crab Legs, French Onion Soup, Bone-In Kona Strip Steak, and Coconut Dessert.
I brought a few colleagues to the Capital Grille for a nice dinner out. We also took advantage of the summer wine event, the Generous Pour. As usual, the Capital Grille did not disappoint. Amazing food and wine, and still the best service in town. Can't wait for my next return visit.
It was our first time trying The Capital Grille and it was amazing! I appreciate that they took time to add some decorative things to the table since we were celebrating my boyfriends birthday. Our server was also really great and attentive, but not overbearing. Food was amazing! Best clam chowder I've had in New England. And I would highly suggest the salmon with citrus and brown sugar.
Hands down, probably the best restaurant I've been to in Providence.
Providence is so easy to travel to. And the Capial Grill is in the center of it all. Great food, stunning atmosphere and the staff was on point from the valet to the kitchen. We came on
Restaurant week so the price was excellent. Had strip steaks with herb butter, garlic mashed and prefectly seasoned green beans. OH was it tasty !!! A must try in my book.
Despite waiting a half hour when we originally booked a reservation, it was a busy week as the restaurant deal was phenomenal. Nevertheless, food and service was outstanding and their filet mignon put a smile on my face. Portions were perfect and my boyfriend and I felt like royalty.
Had to wait thirty five minutes for table and no seats at bar so we had to stand which was difficult because we sre older Sat and had to wait thirty minutes for our waiter to take a drink order I liked this restaurant but it was a horrible i have to think before i would go back soon
Took advantage of restaurant week specials. Everything was superb. I had the 14 ounce strip steak and my boyfriend had the filet with shrimp. Both entrees were perfectly cooked and the shared vegetables were excellent. We both decided we were too full for dessert but couldn't resist it after all. Again, excellent and perfect portions after such a full meal. Our server was friendly and personable. A memorable experience will definitley go back.
We went for restaurant week and so the portions were smaller, which was to be expected. My filet was rare and I ordered medium, my husband's strip steak was well done and he ordered rare. So we switched our meals. It was still good but not the meal we each ordered.
The sides were too small for two but we had enough to eat so not a big deal.
The waiter was excellent and very attentive. I would not have been happy, however, if we had to pay full price.
