The Capital Grille - Plano Ratings and Reviews
we enjoy the Grille regularly for date night and to for special dinner events. It just so happen that our 17 year old opted for the Capitol for his birthday celebration and we had friends visiting that decided at last minute they wanted to join the fun. We had younger kids at the table and it was not received well by our waitress who was somewhat attentive but not at all personable or engaging throughout our meal despite multiple attempts by us . The menu choices were all made from the adult menu and we did not sacrifice food choices or starters due to the children's age so its not as if she was losing out on a large table income. We have had such fantastic service in the past this left us with a less than favorable taste in our mouth and may have to consider alternative plans.
Took grandkids before a Christmas Pageant. Traffic had us arrive late. Asked for expedited service. Capital Grille came through in spades. Food- great as always. Service- UNBELIEVABLY SUPERB, way more than fast, friendliness and attention over the top. Fantastic high quality restaurant.
Food great, service surprisingly poor - I was meeting a client and the client arrived first and checked in under my name and was seated. I arrived minutes later and was also seated, but at a different table, telling them to expect my guest. After 10 minutes, I called and the client said she was already there. The hostess came over to get me and no acknowledgment of the error or any apology. When I gently mentioned it to her she gave me a solid "I don't care" look. Also, constant pressure to turn the table is a restaurant epidemic. I did not feel this pressure the last time I was here but definitely this time.
Compared to the last time we visited, the service., ambiance, locstion, food left a lot to be desired. The brioche. Dressing was soggy. Bread. No attention was paid to the presentation of the appetizer. We were seated in the bar; why? The first time we dined, the experience was memorable thanks in large part to our attendant Pam who helped smooth over some lag times during the meal
We go to Cap Grille about 4-5 times a year for special occasions or just an elegant night out. Always excellent food, greatest service possible. Ambience is fun and romantic. Great place for dates, special occasions, business meals or enjoying drinks at the bar.
First time to visit. Overall experience was enjoyable. Great cocktails. The tuna tartar appetizer was some of the best tuna I've tasted in Dallas--but it was served on a bed of chopped onions that totally overpowered the fish. Steaks were cooked perfectly and tasty. For sides, skip the creamed spinach--it tastes like Green Giant right of the frozen food section. Nice selection of wine by the glass. Our server, Eddie, was very attentive but never intrusion. Be prepared to spend a lot of money. Two cocktails, two appetizers, two entrees, two glasses of wine = $228.00. Also, avoid the booths near the kitchen. It is quite noisy back there. I am now educated for any return visit.
We eat here every 4-5 weeks as it is on our normal Saturday rotation. The South African lobster special was excellent and the salmon was cooked to our special request. It was the first time wth this waiter, Amine, and we will ask for him by name. He was charming but not overbearing. No glass was ever more than half empty. He knew when to approach and when to allow us to talk. Best experience that we have had at this restaurant.
I have eaten at 5-6 CG’s around the country but this was my first time at the Plano location. My fillet was just ok and my guests came out horribly undercooked. The steak was just not up to the CG standards that I have come to expect. The restaurant is very nicely decorated. The wait staff was pretty mediocre for fine dining. I am not sure if this is a new location and they just aren’t up to speed yet. I would recommend that they send to team to ATL or DC to see what it is supposed to be like.
I was here for a business lunch. Capital Grille never disappoints - great service, great ambiance, EXCELLENT food! Probably my favorite restaurant - especially for business, or for individual date nights! For lunch, my go to menu item is the rib-eye steak sandwich. For dinner, you can't go wrong with the any steak on the menu but my favorite is the porcini rubbed rib-eye with 15 yr old balsamic glaze.
My wife and I recently celebrated our 10 year anniversary here. I called ahead to ask a favor of the staff - save me from my horrible inability to plan anything romantic! And they did just that. Our table was decorated w/ little hearts, our waitress, Pam, who was absolutely wonderful, brought us by champagne as a “happy anniversary” gesture. The manager even stopped by to wish us, as well. The food was excellent and properly described and recommended by our waitress. Our meal was followed by a complimentary “happy anniversary” (as it were written in chocolate) dessert with a single beautiful rose. Can’t reiterate how wonderful both the staff and food were. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Waiter was annoying. Dinner was very expensive - but food was just okay. My husband ordered his steak medium - but it was overdone. I ordered salmon and it was very underdone. I showed the salmon to the waiter and he said he would take it off the bill, but he didn't. The wine was very expensive. We ordered the cheapest bottle on the menu and it was $50. Our friends liked their steak and lobster. My husband and I prefer a lot of other restaurants over this one so we don't plan to return.
