The Capital Grille - Pittsburgh Ratings and Reviews
We visited on a recent trip to Pittsburgh for my husband's birthday/Valentine's Day and our meal was wonderful. Our server Darla was great, very friendly, professional and knowlegible of the menu. She offered her own recommendations on the menu and they did not disappoint! If I had to come up with any criticism, it would be the noise level in the restaurant, it was very loud. But, it helped keep the atmosphere upbeat instead of stuffy.
Our server was good and the food was fine; however all other support staff were less than adequate. The individual who brought our food from the kitchen was rude. She appeared quite annoyed when I asked a question about how the children's plates were prepared. And, another individual kept removing flatware from the table as we were still using it. While the reservation was for Valentine's day, it was a 5:15 reservation and the restaurant was not busy. Definitely won't return to this Capital Grille location.
The food was terrible this time. Wasn’t prepared with a lot of flavor our steaks & lobster. Was disappointed!
Went for St Valentine’s Day, celebrated the day before.
Ruth Chris’s food is much better!!! The prices Capital Grill charge are ridiculous also! We won’t be back!!!
Always an incredible experience - it isn't often that I can find a restaurant to prepare a meal better than I can... Sad (and maybe pretentious), but true. The Capital Grille never disappoints!! The Mushroom Bisque & Tuna were perfection, and the service was outstanding. I wish I could remember the Hostess' name... My appointment was 20 minutes late and she handled it with such grace, keeping me company in the mean time, and sent me away with a little gift for the holiday. It was very kind, and much appreciated!
Atmosphere and service excellent as always! The seared tenderloin and lobster tails I do not recommend at all. 2 small cut off pieces of tenderloin ordered medium but were black and well done. We assumed it would be a small filet and not 2 tips that would be hard to cook.
The only complaint I have is that one of our steaks was over cooked. He was the host and didn't want to go through the hassle of dealing with the kitchen so we just moved forward with dinner but it was clearly over cooked. Other than that the wine, food, cocktails were all excellent.
Food was amazing; we both got the filet. They were prepared exactly how we wanted them and flavors were amazing. Service was outstanding; our server, Amber was helpful and efficient, and made our special evening perfect. We had a birthday and we felt like she went above and beyond.
Given they are a chain, we were VERY skeptical. But Capital was SO much better than we thought -- our steaks were perfect and so were the mashed potatoes. The green beans needed some seasoning, but were cooked perfectly. Dessert was what you would expect -- nothing amazing, but satisfying. Service was excellent and attentive. They could use a few more affordable wines by the bottle.
We love the dry aged bone-in steak here. This time, we had to send one back because it was overcooked, but the restaurant was good in addressing it and bringing a new steak, properly prepared. Some of the wines by the glass are quite overpriced for what they are (i.e. $12 a glass for $10 a bottle wine), but there is a good selection. The flourless chocolate dessert is so good. Service is always outstanding.
