The Capital Grille - Pittsburgh Ratings and Reviews
I got the chicken plate and the chicken was so dry and the sauce it was in was not a good taste. My other friend got that as well but her chicken was way under cooked. The plates menu needs refreshed with different options as it has basically stayed the same for a long time.
Our SERVICE by the wait staff was terrific! JADE was the young lady's name and she was special! The food is amazing and would recommend it to anyone for a special occasion. We made it a point to talk to the manager on how the evening was!
Thank you for a special evening!
We were an out of town party of four looking for a great steak house to fill in while Ruth Chriss was closed for renovation. Unfortunately The Capital Grille didn't fill the shoes, particularly for the price of the shoes. Food was fine, not bad, but nothing left us feeling like "wow, I really enjoyed that." We also had a full two hour wait for our entrees. Even with drinks and a starter salad course, that long wait in the middle eventually became distracting and had us all wondering what went wrong in the kitchen.
The barman was great. The waitress, however, was barely engaging and almost gave the impression that we should feel priveleged to have her serve us. Hard to find when we needed her too. All other staff were very helpful and appreciative. Food and wine ,as always at CG's , was fantastic.
Authentic steakhouse cuisine, with an assortment of wonderfully fresh seafood features. The chef does a great job of adding seasonal features to the menu, such as butternut squash bisque, that is outstanding.
The service here is top-notch; attentive, but not intrusive. The atmosphere is upscale, yet has a casual vibe, making for an enjoyable dining experience. Menu prices are on the high-end; but similar to other marquee steak houses. My only issue is that with the high prices, the restaurant does not offer complimentary parking in the garage. That's a misstep, in my opinion.
For food and service, you will not be disappointed.
This is a lovely, clearly upscale restaurant. Service was impeccable. Mostly a steak menu.
Daughter's steak entrée was good, not great, mine was awful. Had the rib eye with rubbed porcini. Blackened so couldn't discern the fat until it was in your mouth. Not very classy to be spitting fat out on your plate. Would have sent back but teenage daughter would have been mortified since we were celebrating my birthday together. One side of asparagus good. Two glasses of Sangria. So 2 steaks, one awful one ok, one plate of asparagus and 2 glasses of sangria =
Cost with tax and tip = 180. Pretty high considering, not a lot of food and not high quality.
Reported to manager later and they apologized with a thank you for letting us know. I will not be back; nor will I ever recommend to anyone.
All was very good. Only complaint is that Capital Grille needs to be more consistent and offer same promotion as they do at all other non-Pennsylvania restaurants rather than passing wine import costs on to customers. PA restaurants have to pay $10 more for Generous Pour and Wagyu and Caymus than all other restaurants and it isn't fair.
I was blown away by the service and the food. This was the best steak I have ever eaten (porcini rubbed ribeye cooked medium rare). My table request for a booth was honored and we were delighted to find a happy anniversary card with festive heart confetti sprinkled on the table. I asked the Maitre d a question about one of the streets outside. Although he did not know the answer he found out during our meal and told me when we were on our way out. The complimentary dessert was amazing and was the perfect size for two.
The quality of the food, wines and attentive service at this high-end chop house is most notable. We indicated celebrating a birthday and they made the event very special. The service staff were busy, which prevented their serving items ordered from the sides menu (something experienced at Ruth Chris or Flemings). We had a couple of large, boisterous groups nearby, which affected the ambiance making it difficult for our table of 4 to carry on a normal conversation; we used hand signals to communicate at more than one point during the meal. Overall, The Capital Grille was a great venue to enjoy our special occasion.
We had reservations for the dining room, but found 2 very good end seats at the bar and decided to stay at the bar for dinner. The servers were absolutely fantastic, very attentive and very personable. Food was fabulous, but very overpriced. Enjoyable evening celebrating our wedding anniversary.
Had a great meal for two, the steaks were superb. The wine list was extensive and approachable without being pretentious. Lobster bisque was available off menu and delicious. Despite being the eve of the Steeler's home opener IN Pittsburgh, the wait staff hustled and made sure everyone was taken care of.
