The Capital Grille - Philadelphia Ratings and Reviews
Got a gift card to Capital Grille. Heard a lot about it. Kind of disappointed. Had to ask multiple times for additional bread and butter. Caesar salad was soggy. Didn't even get offered cracked black pepper. I guess I needed to ask for it! Salmon was good, rib eye steak was tasty but looked like it was in the oven too long. Overall, I was expecting more from a fine dining restaurant. Our server Bob, tried to be attentive, but was more concerned with cleaning the crumbs from our table than how the food was.
Excellent!! Celebrated my birthday at a round table, party of 8. Excellent seating, excellent service, excellent food. All dishes... 8 for 8! Service outstanding. While it may seem pricey, the quality and quantity of the entrees, sides and appetizers more than equaled the price. I have been to all of the 'high' end steak houses (DelFrisco, Butcher & Singer, Mortons, Flemings, Ruth's Chris and others) and Capital Grill still ranks number 1, without question.
As an aside, each dish shows calories so if you are watching your diet, you have help to choose accordingly.
My overall experience was excellent. My night was very romantic, I loved my hostest, the food was great, and to end it all I ended up giving a guy the Heimlich Maneuver saving his life and making a new friend. Awesome night out, and thank you Capital Grill Philladelphia for comping the bill.
While this is one of my favorite places to eat, they’re advertising is unfair and deceptive. They sent an e-mail with a bottle of champagne, stating if you visit on February 13, they’d give you the champagne and chocolate strawberries. Turns out all they give is a sip of the champagne, and you have to listen to an ad from the champagne company rep. It left a bad taste in my mouth.
Definitely start your experience with Melanie and crew at the bar. Fun, friendly, lively crowd. Service with a smile. We were here after the EAGLES parade and they didn't miss a beat. The manager at the door kept everything organized but they were 3 deep and this team of professionals kept everyone quite happy. Dinner was excellent! All 4 of us were happy. Meals were delicious and perfectly prepared served by a very sweet, upbeat waitress who was attentive at all times. We never felt rushed and they even tolerated the random chants from the crowd. As we were leaving we realized 2 hats were left at the bar. (one of these hats had considerable sentimental value as a hand made gift from one child to another) The entire staff helped to look with genuine interest and concern. A lovely couple at the bar had found them and was carefully watching to make sure they were returned to their rightful owner. Another couple had asked to have them had no one surfaced. Joy best described the mood of all when the finders reunited the hats to their loving owners. I don't usually write reviews this long and detailed but had to share what a wonderful night and happy ending to what could've been a sad loss. There are lots of places to eat but there are GOOD people here at this first class fine dining establishment. The whole evening was outstanding. Never had a bad experience at here. Thank you to CG CC....you consistently prove to be a great choice!
Only one disappointment during an otherwise always great experience. We were seated next to a large family gathering with a less than one year old. Occasional crying, fussing. Capital Grille is not McDonalds. For the cost and expectations, we don't expect that kind of disruption. You go to a restaurant of this level to escape that aggravation. The staff should have placed them in a more private area.
This is the third or fourth time I have had lunch or dinner at the Capital Grill. Though a chain, it is such a damn good one. The 20 dollar, 3 course lunch is a huge bargain. I had, this time, two small fillet sliders that were perfectly cooked, fabulous truffled french fries, perfectly cooked, and two small deserts: chocolate flowerless cake, which, to be fair, was more like smooth fudge; and a lovely mini-cheese cake, particularly remarkable given I don't usually like cheese cake. My friend had a terrific salmon, avocado, and mango. I am used to eating at very high end, unique restaurants (Laurel in Phila. springs to mind). Sometimes it is nice to just have a first-rate, good old American style lunch. This was it.
My wife and I traveled to Philadelphia with our close friends and traveling companions to see the terracotta soldiers exhibit at the Franklin Institute which was great.
We chose the Capital Grille for our dinner destination and were not disappointed, everything was great a true steakhouse experience.
We had a very pleasant and attentive server, the food was wonderful as expected, quiet surroundings. One very minor drawback was that while our table was in a corner, an unattractive fire door was right next to us, which was drafty. Not really a big deal, and did not ruin the evening. The whole dining experience was very enjoyable.
We went during restaurant week which we know is a busy time but we were celebrating my husband's birthday. The restaurant week menu is a steal compared to what prices normally are. With an additional appetizer and drinks, the cost goes up but it's certainly worth it. Our server Rob was amazing and the meal was well timed. We had a difficult table next to us and I commend Robert for his patience! Food was perfect.
Had a great restaurant week experience. The options on the menu you were diverse and plentiful compared to other restaurants and their menu restrictions. They even had extra options to add on to your meal for a small fee. Our server was nice and very friendly. They also added a few touches to the table to celebrate the birthday of one of us. We were a table of seven and everyone enjoyed their meal. Not a single complaint.
I had such a wonderful dining experience at The Capital Grille! My boyfriend and I were celebrating my 25th birthday, and when we arrived to the table it was decorated with a rose, confetti, and a birthday card from the staff. Our server, Angelina, was prompt, pleasant, and eager to provide recommendations based on what we were looking to dine on that evening. At the end of the meal, I was given a complimentary birthday dessert (more than enough for 2 people to share!) and our server happily took care of our valet ticket at our table / added it to our bill to pay with a credit card since we didn't have enough cash on us. I LOVE The Capital Grille and highly recommend it to celebrate your special occasion!
Very good food and service. The sides weren't very great compared ot the quality of the entree. The green beans were way to crunchy and out table ignored them completely however the bread, salad/soup, mashed potatoes, and steak were amazing. The overall restaurant is very fancy and the servers were very considerate when one of our steaks came out a little undercooked.
I have been to Capital Grill on numerous occasions. The food is always good and the service is also good. On this occasion we had a very long wait for our reserved time over 1/2 hour. We would not have minded so much but the place was packed and we were on our lunch time from work ( we took an extra hour for lunch and still did not make it back on time). It seemed like they overbooked for some reason and lots of people had to wait. then it felt like we were being rushed. I usually have only good things to say but this time I was a little disappointed.
