The Capital Grille - Paramus Ratings and Reviews
The service was both attentive & respectful of privacy. The food was well prepared, fresh, hot & delicious. The menu offered something for everyone. The ability to share entrees was most appreciated and handled by the kitchen with split plates; a very nice touch.
Met a girl friend at Capitol after work to catch up and we sat at the bar. Food was amazing, as usual! However, the two women bartenders were nice when we asked for things (menus, a drink, bread - you get the picture) but otherwise couldn’t be bothered with us at all. Never asked if the food was ok, if we needed anything - literally we had empty glasses and had to ask for a drink. I come here often enough to know that is not the normal experience - Mike is usually in the bar and is great! Last nights bartenders were a very poor experience for the type of place Capitol emulates.
When we arrived I whispered to the hostess that it was our anniversary. In the short time it took to get to our table, they spread the word fast. When they brought the bread, the wished us happy anniversary. A note appeared on our table from management, wishing us happy birthday. Our waiter followed with his welcome. I followed the waiter's recommendation and had the ribeye with a special rub and it was outstanding. I'm also a steak tartare guy so when I see it on the menu I have to order it. Their rendition is outstanding and plentiful. My wife had a lobster tail and she was really pleased. Net-net, the food was outstanding! Then they bring us a dessert plate with a candle and best wishes again. A truly memorable evening!
We made a reservation for a certain time and was in the restaurant 30 minutes early. We approached the hostess and was told that we will be seated closer to our reservation. Went to the bar, ordered glasses of wine and waited within a stone's throw away from the hostess. Five minutes after our reservation and after waiting for 35 mins, we still were not called even though we noticed that people who arrived after us are already being seated. We followed up and the hostess said we are next. After five to ten more mins, we followed up again and this time showed our annoyance. Only then did we get seated. Steaks were great though and the sides are decent. Then just as we started eating our dessert, our bill was placed on our table even though we haven't asked for it yet. The poor service ruined our evening and we are very disappointed. We don't intend to come back again.
From our attentive wait person AJ , to the more than excellent Sam’s mashed potatoes & the garlic infused sautéed spinach that complimented our perfectly charred medium rare bone in ribeye and bone in filet mignon, our meal was more than perfect.
Add to that the free valet parking, the delightful hostesses, who seated us, on time for our reservation and you will know why we will soon return.
This was a special birthday lunch for my son. Reservation was made through Open Table and they asked if it was a special occasion? I responded, "Yes." The restaurant sat us quickly, the hostess festively sprinkled confetti down the center of the table and handed my son an envelope with a hand written note with birthday wishes. Complimentary vodka pineapple cocktail to start and complimentary champagne toast to end the meal. A candle and birthday wishes written on the dessert plate was served. The Capital Grille did a wonderful job, it was a perfect birthday celebration and I will certainly recommend to others searching for a special birthday lunch location! Thank you.
Overall a good experience, but not how we envisioned it would be. The shining stars of the night were the team that served us - Yuly (our server) and Jesse (in-house sommelier). The service was fantastic, and the recommendation of wine by Jesse was amazing. The food was above average; we ordered the seafood plateau - one shrimp was bad/spoiled and my steak arrived just barely warm. After informing our server about the steak, it was quickly resolved. It was my 40th birthday and my wife wanted to treat me to a memorable evening. Unfortunately, the meal it didn't live up to either of our expectations, but the service from Yuly and Jesse were 5-star.
