The Capital Grille - Palm Beach Gardens Ratings and Reviews
Generally, we are quite fond of dining at the Capital Grill. However, our experience last Saturday night was not quite up to par. We made a reservation for 8:00 and requested a table outside on the patio. When we arrived, the only table available on the patio was next to a man smoking a large cigar. Since this was not desirable for us, we opted to wait for another table further away from the cigar. After about half an hour, we were seated. We waited quite a while for our waitress to come over, but she did apologize as she had a large group next to us. My wife ordered the French onion soup to start. When it arrived, the cheese on the top was burnt black. Actually, I was very surprised that it was even brought to the table in that condition. So, we asked for another serving. To our surprise, rather than bringing a new bowl, someone simply removed the black cheese and returned the same bowl. Unbelievable! I ordered a 10 oz. filet mignon medium rare. When it arrived, the waiter asked me to cut it down the middle to check the temperature. Both the waiter and I agreed that it had to go back since it was very rare. You would think that in this case, they would rush it since my wife was already eating her dinner. I was wrong. It arrived after she was nearly through her meal and I had eaten half my potato. To add insult to injury, the steak was now clearly over cooked. The chef came out to our table to apologize, but I'm not sure that helped. The waiter offered another baked potato, but that wasn't going to solve the problem either , so I declined. So, I finished my steak while continuing to refill my wine glass that the waiter had neglected to do all night. Not sure if the restaurant was short staffed or if the staff was more interested in attending to "regulars". In either case, this is not the kind of dining experience I expected. It may be time to try another steak house.
The food was excellent, as always at Capital Grille, but the service we received last Saturday night was bad. I'm not sure if it was because we were sitting in the bar area, but part of our order was wrong and the item just sat on our table for 20 minutes before they were able to fix it. No one came by to freshen our water unless we asked and it took a long time to get our check. I'd hope they can just chalk this up to having a bad night.
To be fair, there is a question as to whether onion soup was actually ordered in the first place. It was not served with the salads, and had to be re-ordered at that time. This pushed everything back, and two of the entrees were then served cold (probably because of the soup being late), and they had to be sent back. When they were finally served, they were hot, but one was slightly undercooked. Of the five people in our party, only one said their food was 'fabulous' - the others said it was 'good.' All in all, we had a very nice time, and the servers were very professional and attentive. This wasn't our best experience at Capital Grille, though we've liked it very much in the past.
last year the 2 of us celebrated anniversary here and had small room w lotsa kids. Vowed not to return. BUT this year we DID return, asking for a quiet table, NOT in the small room w lotsa kids. So they seated us next to kitchen...more noisy than ever. Yes, the food was great; the waitress was especially great, but will not return cuz its too damned noisy, and we had even requested a quieter section of the place. Since last year they refused to reseat us elsewhere, we didnt bother to ask to move our seats elsewhere this year.
I have been a customer since the opening in Boston, and also in Chestnut Hill MA, so not a stranger
BTW, two years ago, the valet broke my headlight backing another car into it, but when I discovered it 2 days later, after not using the car, the valets denied responsibility. Had to fix it myself before trading it in.
SO: terribly sour taste, but not from the food
I took my Mother for her 90th Birthday! She loves shrimp cocktail and they were very fresh! I had wedge salad and it was the best Bleu cheese Dressing ever! We both had Filet Mignon that was outstanding. They surprised my Mom with a tray of desserts that said Happy Birthday and they had sprinkled Birthday Confetti on the table. All and all awesome. A bit noisy however and the waiter, though nice and thorough seemed to be rushing us through the meal to turn the table quickly.
At one time, Capital Grille in Palm Beach Gardens was one of my favorite restaurants. However, after a recent Saturday visit, I can no longer give them the high marks as I did in the past. My visit started with confusion in seating my party of two and ended with an array of service staff who seemed to miss the mark at every turn. Yes, the food was very good, but during this visit, the service did not match the price of the bill.
We were celebrating our friends’ birthdays and everything, from the friendly, efficient and expert service from our server, Michelle, to the delicious butternut squash soup, kale salad and perfectly done steaks, were the best we have ever had. Everything at the dinner was perfect.
We have visited several of the locations from Costa Mesa to Orland, NYC,...Each and all are always exceptional, elegant with great personal service and food. Compliment to management and training and Chefs always for a consistant service.. Our server George was great and attentive.
Dined here during Flavor of Palm Beach. Great value for a delicious steak dinner. The salads were underwhelming in terms of presentation but the entrees more than made up for it. Waiter was very friendly and recommended wines that we very much enjoyed. We did have some negatives related to timing. Though we had a reservation, the hostess stand seemed chaotic and unclear as to when our table would be available. We ordered cocktails and waited at the bar, but it wasn’t until we checked in again 10-15min after our reserved time that they confirmed a table was available. The other timing issue was that our entrees were served before our salad plates had even been cleared. Ideally there would have been a pause between courses. Overall, a great value with the Flavor menu and a very enjoyable meal.
Great night Great Food. Our waiter Jeff Struble was very knowledgeable , polite and, entertaining. William Bowler Managing Partner very knowledgeable on history of restaurant, paintings, and food preparation. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and were TOP NOTCH QUALITY. Thank you Mr. Bowler.
The food was excellent and prepared to perfection ! We went during restaurant month, and to celebrate our wedding anniversary - all the tables and the bar were occupied - attention and service we received was exceptional ! My favorite place to eat when we visit West Palm 😎
Had a wonderful meal with good friends. Filets were seasoned perfectly. Salads were adequate, but the dessert made up for it with a heavenly flourless chocolate cake . It was extremely busy because of the special Flavor Palm Beach menu, which made dining more reasonable. Service was professional, not friendly. Our only complaint was that the noise level was extremely loud and we had trouble at times conversing. Will give it another try.
