It seemed stuffy. I’ve been to several other capital grilles and loved them. This one was blah.
Service was great in many ways.
Just the overall experience was not what I had hoped for.
Next time I’ll go Del Frisco’s.
The restaurant has a very polished, professional ambiance. It is in the heart of Manhattan, so lots of business meals take place there. However, I do believe our waiter was a bit of a
Excellent! The service, ambiance and food were all top notched! A very pleasant dining experience as always! Looking forward to our next visit!
Really an excellent steakhouse. Service struck a nice balance between attentiveness and leavng us be. Food was great and they also have a pre-theater menu before 6:30 that is excellent value. Their wine list is on an ipad which enables much more information to make a selection.
Excellent pre theater dinner.
Well worth the price.
The best place in New York
Waiter was less than attentive. Food was disappointing for what we paid for it.
Made reservations at the last minute and this was the right decision. Had the crabmeat cocktail, grouper with bearnaise sauce, Brussel sprouts roasted with soy sauce and bacon and finished with raspberry sorbet. We had a great time thanks to the staff, but especially our server Bill Sheridan.
Excellent food, service and ambiance. Great for special occasions.
Service was excellent food not so much. Not afraid to charge top dollar but quality is not there. Rib eye steaks thin compared to so many other great steak houses. Cold Seafood appetizer was complete waste of money. Dry warm shrimp poor quality oysters little lobster. With so many other choices in NYC will not be going back
A No star Loud restaurant, misrepresenting waitress and hostess. Great for bar patrons who will drink and talk loud anyway.
Weekend in New York
Capital Grille is perhaps one of the best steak houses around. I have visited many different ones around the US and can not talk bad of any one of them. Food and service are excellent. Noise level is more than acceptable.
We had a pre-theater dinner before going to see ‘Hamilton’ last night.
Last year around the same time, we tried The Capita Grill for the first time. It was amazing then, and amazing agin the time.
We ordered off of the ‘Pre-Theatre’ menu, and added a few sides to share.
Food, Service, and value were all amazing.
Kale Salad was outstanding. Our server was most attentive and kept abreast of a showtime we were trying to make. That was the 5 star stuff. Then came the kitchen disaster. Apparently not ready for the volume, they mixed everything up. My wife got someone else's dinner. By the time hers finally came, my dinner was too cold to eat, the sides were too cold as well. The manager came and was very nice. Comped our drinks and side. The steaks were quality cuts but zero taste! I had the Kona crusted bone in strip. My wife had a filet. Zero taste, no seasoning. Actually used table salt for the first time in many years. My steaks at home are award winners. You would expect the pros to do it right as well. Our server gave us 2 drink comps as well which we took advantage of after our show. If we go back, its a burger at the bar.
As always wuth Capital Grille, great food and service.
Love Capital Grille, always a great meal and with unique and delicious menu choices. Dined on Saturday night, pre-Theater so we were in a bit of a rush but the service was a bit slow. Probably because they are used to not rushing their customers, and I don't think we were clear on our need to get going at the end of dinner, we had to wait a bit for the check etc. But I guess the point is, let them know you are needing to wrap it up and get on your way. And better if service doesn't rush you along through your meal, like most places.
MY wife and i celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary here. We were greeted with champagne to start our meal, such a nice touch. The meal was excellent and the suggestions by our waitress were spot on. We finished with a Happy Anniversary dessert, also a surprise by the Capital Grille. The perfect spot to celebrate before seeing a play.
We ate twice at Capital Grille on our recent visit to New York. The first time was apre theatre lobster dinner and it was delicious. Our server was a striving opera singer and she was fun and attentive. The second time we ate at Capital, we sat at the bar and had a snacky apres theatre meal---great bartender and onion soup. Many thanks, Capital Grille!
My husband and I were very satisfied with our experience here. We had great service, delicious food and a great ambience. We would certainly recommend this to others.
Wonderful place, amazing food, friendly service
Great service, excellent food!!!
Best steak!!love everything about this restaurant. the service was amazing . Can’t wait to go back soon
Fabulous. Time. Bonnie, our server was so sweet and lovely. The food was killer. And the drinks were huge and amazing.
i did not have a good experience at this resturant. the service was terrible. Everything took so long to arrive. i waited 15min for a drink only to be told its on its way and waited another 10min. My steak was over cooked and my wife steak was under cooked. The lobster mac and cheese only had 2 pieces of lobster in it. The only positive thing i can say is they did give us to free glass of champange since we was celebrating a bday and gave us a frew slice of cheese cake.. i definitely will not be returning to this resturant.
Blackened steak was the best I've had. Ge i rge was a great server. He gave great menu suggestions.
Good food!! Good service!
Four adults dined everything was excellent. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. We enjoyed our evening and will absolutely return and tell our friends.
From the moment we walked in till the time we left we had an excellent experience. Host and hostess were very pleasant. Wait staff was wonderful... food and beverages were excellent... overall for our first time here was better than expected... we will definitely be back....
From the moment we walked in we were greeted with friendliness and warmth. The bartender was friendly, our table was thoughtfully decorated with a personal card congratulating us on the occasion of our anniversary celebration soon followed by a champagne toast, compliments from the bartender we sat with earlier. The server was friendly, helpful and created an atmosphere absent of obnoxious pretentiousness as many steak houses in Manhattan tend to be. Our complimentary "Happy Anniversary" dessert plate was the perfect ending to a lovely evening. Thank you for making our Anniversary dinner so special.
Service was outstanding. Steak was cooked perfectly / flavorful and tender.
The meat was not prepared according to my request
The waitress suggested to change but it was too late
Service was superb. Brianna was excellent! We will definitely return.
Rib-eye is better than the porterhouse , but the porterhouse at Gallagher’s is still the best !!!
Everything was wonderful. George took great care of us, visiting without being intrusive.
Our 2nd time to Capital Grill; first time in Garden City, Long Island. I give that location a slightly higher review than the 51st St. NYC location. Seated in one of the quiet rooms rather than the main salon on Valentine's evening, it was quiet & we could hear ourselves talk. I prefer the main dining area to feel connected but is good to know you offer quiet dining areas. Our sirloin steaks were cooked as requested & we enjoyed the truffle fries. The spinach w/garlic & oil was a bit too oily & hardly had a garlic taste. The same dish in Garden City was scrumptious with large chunks of garlic in it & less oil. Waitress was just attentive enough. All in all a good dining experience & city location a plus.
We booked a reservation for Valentine's Day via Open Table and were seated fairly quickly. Our table was upstairs in a small alcove where we were seated at a four top that could only seat 2 - very awkwardly located. Service was friendly but a bit slow. My tea sat empty for a good portion of the meal. The waiter clearing my salad noticed that I hadn't eaten it and inquired about whether or not I enjoyed it (I didn't, because of a bad piece of citrus) and kindly removed it from our bill. My husband enjoyed his salad and steak. The au gratin potatoes were tasty. I ordered the tenderloin and lobster tails - cooked to order and nicely flavored. Overall it was an okay meal, but the experience didn't match the bill. $$
Wonderful restaurant !
Wonderful waitress Angela Wingrove!
Always a pleasure to dine there.
It was just lovely. The front desk staff and the wait staff were wonderful. Food was excellent.
