The Capital Grille - NY – Time Life Building Ratings and Reviews
Our reservation for 8pm proved worthless as we were not seated until nearly 9pm. We were one of a dozen or so that were seated far beyond reservation time. John at the front desk was worthless. Gabe at the bar was awesome, and if I had to choose again, we would have stayed at the bar for dinner. Table service was adequet, but passionless and uninformed. No offer to decant a 10year old wine. I love the Capital grill, and the food was as good as ever. Just not the experience I expected for premium price.
Regular customer at CG. Yes, it is holiday season so CG was full and quite busy. Still, it took my table (of 3) about 10 min to get water, another 10 min to get some break and another 10 min to chase down a waiter to take our order. There were two other larger tables (more than 5~6) near my table (both sat after we did) and got to order their menus.
Naturally, we rushed our food.. three dry aged steaks.. not sure about others, but mine was overcooked.
I dropped in for a late dinner. For such a snowy night, the place was packed and I was seated in a good location for solo dining. My server, Tim Flaherty, helped me decide what to order. I started with the always great crabmeat cocktail and a glass of sancerre, followed by a Gorgonzola-topped strip steak, which was incredibly juicy and flavorful, accompanied with sautéed spinach. I had a glass of tempranillo to complete the course. I finished with a double shot cappuccino and enjoyed it all. Another great meal at my favorite mid-town restaurant. Many thanks to Tim and the rest of the team for taking care of me.
The Capital Grille was absolutely delicious! Our ribeye and filet mignon were cooked to perfection! Our waitress Princess was very knowledgeable of everything on the menu and guided us through a great dining experience to complete our night! We will be back next time we're in town!
We checked in and waiting by the bar but it was too crowded. We ended at the Wine Bar across the street. When we got back we where seated promptly. Our waiter Terrell was great, super friendly but not annoying. He suggested a great wine to go with our meal. The food was awesome. Will definetly go back.
Capital Grille is always a good choice in the major cities; chose this one for a place to eat before seeing a play on Broadway (at the Gershwin Theater). Location was great, service was fast and good. Food was good, accompanied by a good house wine. The kitchen is open and the constant traffic in and out was a little distracting. We couldn't get over the noise though...didn't remember the Pittsburgh Grille being so noisy.
Overall a good evening. Definitely recommend the restaurant, especially if the dinner is part of theater night. Might ask for a more secluded table next time.
form the time we arrived to the time we left we were greeted with a smile, everyone very friendly. we were brought to the table, the wait staff was wonderful. We enjoyed very much our meal from the appetizers to the main meal. Not the first time here and we will be back if when in New York City. we came down to see the Rockets Christmas Show. Family tradition.
As expected, our waiter made our birthday celebration another memorable evening making sure that we got the little extras thrown in like the birthday card, sprinkles and birthday cake and candle which were all complementary. Not to mention, how much we enjoyed our delicious dinner that we always look forward to at Capital Grille.
The Capitol Grill never disappoints. Steaks are excellent and perfectly cooked. The salmon was also very good. The wine selection is fantastic as well. Love the dining room and the bar area. Service is always very good. We make sure to dine at Capitol Grill on every visit to NYC.
