The Capital Grille - NY – Time Life Building Ratings and Reviews
Capital Grille is always a good choice in the major cities; chose this one for a place to eat before seeing a play on Broadway (at the Gershwin Theater). Location was great, service was fast and good. Food was good, accompanied by a good house wine. The kitchen is open and the constant traffic in and out was a little distracting. We couldn't get over the noise though...didn't remember the Pittsburgh Grille being so noisy.
Overall a good evening. Definitely recommend the restaurant, especially if the dinner is part of theater night. Might ask for a more secluded table next time.
form the time we arrived to the time we left we were greeted with a smile, everyone very friendly. we were brought to the table, the wait staff was wonderful. We enjoyed very much our meal from the appetizers to the main meal. Not the first time here and we will be back if when in New York City. we came down to see the Rockets Christmas Show. Family tradition.
As expected, our waiter made our birthday celebration another memorable evening making sure that we got the little extras thrown in like the birthday card, sprinkles and birthday cake and candle which were all complementary. Not to mention, how much we enjoyed our delicious dinner that we always look forward to at Capital Grille.
The Capitol Grill never disappoints. Steaks are excellent and perfectly cooked. The salmon was also very good. The wine selection is fantastic as well. Love the dining room and the bar area. Service is always very good. We make sure to dine at Capitol Grill on every visit to NYC.
This place is always a sure thing. I have never been disappointed in the last ten plus years. I’ve likely had very item off this menu over the years and walk in each location knowing that this place has a great manager and a great staff that knows how to handle its business. Will be back soon.
We have been to many Capital Grills around the US. We went for Thanksgiving and the food was horrible, everything was served cold and tasteless. Also, the service was terrible, we felt rushed and not attended to. Paying the amount of money at this restaurant we expect excellent service and food, we were very disappointed.
The decor was tacky and the food was extremely hit and miss with only 3 decent dishes one of which was cheesecake which is almost impossible to mess up so does that really count? 90% of the Dinner was packaged to give to the children because it was unpleasant . The pros are decent service and exit candy that’s literally it. The” DRY AGED NY STRIP AU POIVRE WITH COURVOISIER CREAM” is actually good though it you have the misfortune of dining here choose that and by all that is holy don’t order the mess that is the steak tartare. Ultimately do not recommend
Coming come from Scotland we were on the lookout for a great meal and the Capital Grille certainly delivered. Food was extremely good although a little pricey. Service was exceptional. A special mention to our server George Ramirez our server who was attentive, had very good understanding of the menu and delivered outstanding service. Would return.
Usually a great experience but not this time.
We ordered off the pre-theater menu which is a great value. But that was it - I ordered my filet mignon medium and it was medium rare in the middle. I would have sent it back but our waitress completely disappeared after serving us the main meal. I had to get up 3 times and ask for water which we waited for 25 minutes!!!!! My friend ordered her filet medium well and it was too well and dry. The server knew we had a show and never bothered to come back. We asked for our check and desert and. couldn’t even eat or enjoy it because we had to get to our show. What a waste.
The food was excellent as always with special kudos to our waiter quickly corrected a minor issue with with our dessert. The Daily Grille has an fine reputation in our home town of Washington DC and our second dining experience at the New York facility has left us quite pleased.
