The Capital Grille - NY – Chrysler Center Ratings and Reviews
A really nice and very upscale restaurant. One bottle of wine on their list was listed at $6,000 - just to give you a sense of how much money you could potentially spend at this place. All the food was amazing and the waiters were great. It was very nice and dressy.
Came here for NYC restaurant week, although we weren't given a menu for it.. we had to ask for it which was weird. The server kind of made a face when I did ask but she quickly changed it.. no, we weren't being cheap, I thought this was a time to experience different places.. food was very good, but i almost felt embarrassed for ordering from the restaurant week menu. I did love the food though, for me they were the perfect portions (had the soup, filet & chocolate cake) and I was stuffed. The service was good.
I have never had a bad or even mediocre meal at the Capitol Grille. On this occasion we went for restaurant week and their aged sirloin was superb and very generous. Speaking of generous, they have a "Generous Pour" promotion for $28 pp and you can drink through 8 wines. An exceptional value with high quality wines. (One of the Cabs goes for $75 a bottle). We added on a side of lobster mac and cheese. Wow! Service is friendly and efficient.
One major quirk this time was that 3 of the 4 red wines were served chilled. The waiter couldn't explain why, just that they were stored with the whites. Not good. It's never happened before here, but I did not enjoy the Cab and Zin that cool. Otherwise I would have given them five stars overall.
Don't wait for the next restaurant week - this is a great value any time. It's a chain that doesn't act like a chain . . .
Amazing restaurant, great service, delicious food. I was there to celebrate a birthday for our friend and every single detail was perfect. The table set up, a birthday card, proseco for the celebration, candle at the desert; simply perfect. Highly recommended.
Went for lunch during Restaurant Week. The room was very dramatic and interesting architecturally. The temperature of the room went back and forth from hot to cold. The room was noisy at times. The steak was great. The flourless chocolate desert was great. The salad was good. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Everything was excellent but it took more than once to get the temperature of my steak correct. Once they did, it was absolutely delicious, but my friend was almost done with her entree. This is not the first time this has happened at THIS location of The Capital Grille. But it has never happened to me before, it has happened twice before with other people in the groups I was with.
We were here for my boyfriend's 30th birthday party. As always, it was a pleasure dining at this particular location. They had out table set up with cute birthday greetings and we got champagne and dessert afterwards. Food was cooked well and tasted good. Oh, and Generous Pour event is always fun. We do it every year, several times when time permits.
The Capital Grille is an extraordinary experience. A truly wonderful meal! Come hungry and ready to indulge. Been here before but this time we enjoyed their summer promo of wines, The Generous Pour! Great selections. It was terrific! Can't wait to do it again.
Server Leo could have been better. Not very interactive and didn't return to the table to update us on the arrival of the meal.
Humberto the bus boy was on top of his game. Your glasses were never empty and used plates were removed in a timely manner.
Food was great 5/5 starts, really enjoyed it.
Aaron was an amazing waiter. I wish he could get 6 stars. He was funny, personable and attentive. Everybody was super nice. Ambiance is great as always. But, wow, the food has really taken a step back. Steaks came out just not great and when one person needed their steak taken back, it took almost until we were all done before he got a new one. Steaks not being cooked right at a steakhouse was a shocker. Mashed potatoes were ok. Lobster mac and cheese was the most heart breaking. I skipped lunch for that and I feel like I should have eaten midday. Will I be back? Probably but only because I know they could do better. I don't even like to leave "bad" reviews but knowing what Capital Grille should be, i felt disappointed more than anything else.
It was my first time at the restaurant. Booked in advance, but still had to wait a while for our table. We tried the restaurant week special menu, 3 courses, many options to choose from. The food was delicious, very healthy! Good wine selection. Good atmosphere. Friendly staff. Overall, it was a good experience. I would definitely recommend it.
This restaurant stood up to its stellar reputation. The steak was melt in your mouth delicious. The mashed potatoes were the creamiest I have ever eaten. Steven went above and beyond the call of duty with a free dessert and lit candle as well as him singing happy birthday to the birthday girl I was dining with. The flourless chocolate cake was spectacular and worth the extra calories. We would definitely return. We also took advantage of their restaurant week fixed price with clam chowder or salad, 8 oz steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, and chocolate cake all for $32.
We had a great dinner at the restaurant - the service was top notch. We participated in the Generous Pour promotion and it truly was generous - the wine just kept coming - they were not stingy with it in the least! The food was excellent, but the stand out service was the highlight.
Whilst this restaurant could be good, we had a few issues with the service. Once pointed out the maitre'd did her best to rectify the situation-for which we were very grateful (as well as taking some of the meals off the check). However, our evening had been dampened by the service.
The restaurant is noisy which makes it quite difficult to hear conversation around the table.
