The Capital Grille - NY – Chrysler Center Ratings and Reviews
Food and service where great. I have given a 4 due to long wait to seat even with a reservation. Arrived 20 minutes early (7:40pm) and they said they’d be on time for 8pm reservation however at 8:20 they were still seating the 7:45’s... also disappointed that as a female the smallest cut was a 10oz. They should maybe offer a petit filet...
Reservations met almost to the minute. The bar service before dinner was outstanding. The wine list was amazing and very informative. The meals were fantastic. I had the porterhouse. Delicious and I cut it with a fork. Worth every penny. O found the overall service to be se ch ond to none and I am looki g forward to my next visit.
Great food. great service. our waitress was very attentive even thought the restaurant was packed, I guess for holidays there are a lot of people dining. overall great food. its a bit loud and lots of hustle and bustle but we still had conversations and had a great time. def recommend
Outstanding experience! Matt and Paul were wonderful on taking us on a tour of food and wine. Lots of people and packed tables did nothing to deter the ambiance, good exquisiteness and warm personal attention! I would recommend without hesitation or qualification!
Well the dinner was quite the experience. I came here with my fiancée for her birthday. We got a quiet table in the corner, with a handwritten birthday letter and confetti on the table. Food was good, exactly what was expected. What was questionable was the service. The waitresses focus was on the larger tables around us. Fine, I get why. As she goes to remove the bread plate and knife from the table, she knocked over her spoon then a half full wine glass while taking my plate, spilling it on my fiancée’s leg and pocketbook. We also spent a while without water or wine, so my fiancée decided to grab the bottle and pour herself, in which the waitress suddenly appeared to pour for us. We received a sorry but that was all. At the end of the meal, they brought out a small chocolate cake slice that said happy anniversary, in which she said happy anniversary several times afterwards. Note that it was my fiancée’s birthday! We got a good laugh about it but it was very clumsy service, especially when there is a letter on the table that says happy birthday on the front.
Would go back again. Service was a strange experience but we made the best of it.
I would have been able to give a better score but everyone’s food came out prefect except mine. My scallops were so hard I couldn’t eat and they couldn’t remake because the kitchen had closed which was very disappointing. Overall our couple date night was nice.
Had lunched there the day before and wanted a steak. Our server JB was awesome. His description of dish prep combined with his wine knowledge, Wine iPad menu and wine selection prompted our return. My husband & I both ordered steaks. My bone in strip came out well done on a medium order. It was quickly replaced with a medium/ as ordered temp and was taken off of our bill. My ribeye ordered medium husband’s was perfect.
This is the worst restaurant experience I have in many years. Such a renowned restaurant at the Chrysler Building in NYC. Got the porterhouse med rare and the Sirloin & lobster. The meat tasted awfull, no taste, just like eating pure non seasoned raw meat. Most stake houses, even Wolfgang's will offer you an optional, but tasty, house made sauce for the meat. I asked and they ofered me A1 sauce...hahaha what? is this a joke? Really A1 sauce..., is this a shack? or Capital Grillé?... the lobster was as dry as you can possibly get it, carton board. we orderd appetizers. the calamari... overcooked almost burnt. Some pubs have better versions of it... I think the waiter was doing his best. And think this place must be in it's final stages and not hiring motivated but poorly trained waiters and even worst cooks. Looked up to it for a long time, will not come back.
Based on reviews, cost, and it’s classy atmosphere, my expectations were high for this restaurant. Ambiance and service were great. The food was meh and not worth the money— $198 for two for lunch (with two drinks, entree and dessert).
I had sliced filet mignon and shared the potato au gratin. The filet was not moist, which is a bit forgivable b/c I eat it medium/well. That being said, I’ve had steak similarly cooked at Michael Jordan’s and it was delish. The big problem was that it was not seasoned; it was super bland. The potatoes were barely warm.
The desserts were meh as well.
On the positive side, the bread basket was really good.
Came to the city to celebrate Thanksgiving with my daughter. I had eaten at a Capital Grill in Naples. NYC’s 42 street did not disappoint. Everything was superb. Our waitress Diana was wonderful. The restaurant was elegantly decorated which made for a cozy relaxing meal.
