Absolutely in the top 5 restaurants in the Twin Cities. Fantastic food, impeccable service. Simply first class.
I’d never been to the Capital Grill before, but it was a really fantastic experience. Wait staff was friendly, helpful, and genuine. Very knowledgeable about menu and drink options. Great menu with a really nice variety of specials. I can’t say enough about the food though, I have never had finer steak in my life, the soups we sampled were excellent, and the desserts were mind-blowingly good. A few days later we are still talking about how amazing the meal was. We will definitely be back - hopefully soon!
While the food was good, I was expected to be more "wowed " than I was, especially given the price point. The ambience was great, the service, excellent. Jeff was our waiter and he was first-class.
Overall a great meal with great steak and seafood options
It was our first time dining in this week with my children and husband. It was for my 38th birthday. The food was great and the service provided by the waiter was wonderful! However, the two hostess at the front were not that friendly. And before they seated us down, I noticed the hostess removed a bowl of candy before she sat us down. I was a bit confused if it was because we weren't worthy of the candy bowl. That would be my only complaint. And when we left the hostess did not thank us for coming or acknowledge us leaving. At least say thank you or wish us a nice day. It's about the best customer service especially at an upscale place. If you want people to come back then give the best and friendly customer service to customers. The table also had confetti for the special occasion and the waiter brought a happy birthday plate for me which was very much appreciated! Thanks to the waiter, we had a positive experience! Thank you!
Celebrating after a Viking win. Nice way to celebrate.
Casey our waiter was amazing. Knew his wines and also very good at menu suggestions. We had an amazing dining experience. Would highly recommend!!!
Everything was fabulous. Mike took care of us and was the consummate host
Our evening was fabulous. First we were given a table that faced a wall so I asked the hostess if we could change. She accommodated is with another table, better but not great. As I was waiting for my friend to arrive, she came over and said a booth had opened up and did I want that? Of course I did so that part worked out well. Service was outstanding as Tony was our waiter and he is one of the best if not the best server at the restaurant! The food was delicious- steak done perfectly as always. Capital Grille is my favorite steakhouse for food, service, atmosphere , and friendliness of all the staff. I give it 5 stars😊
I was rather underwhelmed by this visit to the Capital Grille. It has always been our "go to" restaurant for any special occasion meal, but this visit fell far short of previous ones in the areas of ambience and service.
It began when we pulled up for valet parking. Capital Grille no longer offers free valet parking. Granted, "free" is a liberal term because I habitually tip valet workers very well, so it was disappointing to see the 'valet parking - $10' sign out front. Once we went in, the host staff was unimpressive as well. We waited almost 10 minutes to get to our table. There was no coat check and the people running the desk seemed disinterested in our presence. Once we got to our table, it would prove to be difficult to enjoy our meal, as the table directly across from us was a group of 20-something professional guys who were loud, obnoxious and half-drunk, making any conversation between my wife and I nearly impossible, without shouting. The server also never introduced himself by name (something that has always been done in the past), or maybe he did and we just didn't hear him above all the noise. He was moderately attentive to our needs and was a very nice guy, but it still wasn't on the level we have experienced in the past (perhaps it was because he was focused on the loud group across from us). Upon leaving, we once again had issues with the disinterested front desk staff and the valet brought our car up so that it was in the middle of the street (since all the spots at the curb were full) which was a little dangerous for both my wife and I considering the restaurant's location in downtown Minneapolis.
Ultimately it wasn't an awful experience. The meal was, as always, very good, but the level of service just wasn't there and that's part of what I pay for when I visit the Capital Grille in any city. It's one of the main reasons I go there to dine, and it just wasn't there on this Friday night.
