The Capital Grille - Las Vegas Ratings and Reviews
Ok, so went to Capital Grille for lunch. Had wedge salad with Lobster and clam chowder. It was phenomenal. So, I went back for dinner. It was also fantastic. For dinner, I had shrimp cocktail, lobster and crab cakes. Food and service were excellent! Great atmosphere and views.
Needed more than 1 waiter for our 10 person table or our waiter just couldn't handle it. Plus, I told our waiter in the beginning that 5 of my guests were from Italy so he would need to speak up & speak clearly so the Italians could hear him & understand him.... He did neither, I had to repeat everything the waiter said. I had the Chilean Sea Bass & I was not impressed. Desserts were mediocre and the "chilled" drinks were not chilled. I wish I would of chose Morton's instead.
Used to be more of a special place. Seems to be about table turnover now. Bottle of wine, Appetizers, entree, dessert, $300 for two, and had us in and out in about an hour. Not my idea of a nice dinner out. Food was quite good, overall experience was just ok.
Had the specialty bone-in rib eye with the balsamic rub. Sooooo good. My wife went with the seared tune which was also terrific. Server brought us a free desert just because he wanted is to try it... Of course it was devoured even though we didn't think we had any room left :). To top things off, my wife left her iPhone in the booth and they called me shortly after to let us know we left it behind. Top notch
Had the Filet /Lobster special and when the waiter said the lobster was rock lobster -- which it wasn't I had envisioned a little finger-sized tail. how wrong was I...it came out like a lobster meal with a side of 10 oz filet. Could've been the best lobster I tasted. Buttery and flavorful.
Of course the side are awesome too. Pricey but worth it
The food was so nasty the steaks were burned. Then the servicer we started with never came back ,instead put us off on to another servicer. And we never complained so he knew the food wasn't up to part. The manager even came out but he went to another table never addressed us, and we wanted so badly for him or the servicer to ask about our meal and they never did. We always visit the resturant in Chicago and their food is very good. I feel like this experience was a waste of 190.00. Will not visit again. But we should have known as we walked down the strip several homeless people had the capital grille left over bags. So, that was clue #1!!! Awful
Our experience at the Capital Grille was wonderful. The wine list is amazing and the menu fantastic. The servers are knowledgeable and can help if are having trouble deciding. The portions are more than generous!! From beginning to end you are treated special!!
Booked a reservation same day for party of 10 @ 8:30P seating. Arrived on time and was told the table was not ready and directed to the bar... at 8:45P I checked with host and was informed the table was not yet ready? Waited another 10-15 minutes before the manager asked if we wanted a nice table or secondary table to which I said we would take first available. The manager further explained our table was occupied with diners that were "slow to pay" and that he would push our other table option, as if his issues were my problem. After another 15 minute delay, we were seated at 9:20P and offered three shellfish appetizer platters gratis.
I give the host stand and floor manager '2' out of '10' for lacking a sense of urgency to seat a party of 10 in a restaurant where the bill was an automatic $1000+, not to mention the fact that the wait staff was slow to respond to drink orders and the food didn't hit the table for another 45 minutes... entirely too late for fine dining and subpar for Captial Grille.
I frequently entertain large groups of customers and will not be returning to CG LV after this lackluster performance even though the automatic gratuity was waved and gratis food was provided; the first rule in a town with many dining options to simply ensure your customer is satisfied and, will not only return, but recommend your restaurant to others which CG LV failed to do.
The crab cake appetizer were awesome. The meat Steak was tender and well seasoned and i'm not a big steak eater. Our waiter Pete was not very attentive to our table but one of the Managers Corey went above and beyond the job. This made our first experience not our last. The restaurant as a whole was second to none.
Loved this place, front reception team was great and helpful when we added one person late on site, the serving staff in the restaurant were outstanding!
My only issue was bar service. Very tight space which I completely understand, but...the bar team was either new, or just disorganized. Took me 10 minutes just to get noticed standing at bar, and three of them walked past me several times not a single acknowledgment (be right with you)...Took a long time to get one glass of wine, and even longer to get bill to pay. My guests arrived, who came to the bar area, I wanted to get them cocktails...again...10 minutes or longer just to get noticed...I actually ordered for several people not even in my party.
Great spot, loved it our server at the table for dinner was OUTSTANDING, this concern not a deal breaker but I think an opportunity for improvement. You could and would have sold more...
Will go back next time in Vegas.
I wasn't sure what to expect having never heard of the Capital Grille, and honestly given the name it sounded slightly diner-ish. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was quite the upscale restaurant with great food. The French Onion soup at the beginning of my meal was by far the best I've had all year, and the steak for my dinner was cooked to perfection. I will definitely be returning here!
